The Ocean House Restaurant - Cape Cod
The entrance to Isola: Off of Main Street, take the left AFTER Church Street towards the parking lot. Our front doors to our building are located in the back left corner of that parking lot.
Isola is quite a nice find in Edgartown. If you want authentic Italian with a friendly waitstaff and a truly unlimited food selection, then it’s the place to go to. Meatballs were amazing and the sausage with broccoli rabe was ridiculously delicious!
Second time at Isola and we were not disappointed. Very good wine selection and delicious entrees, salads and desserts.
There for Pho night. Excellent.
Enjoyed all of our food, pastas home made delicious, striped bass and scallop entree excellent, caesar salad done on the grill --- wonderful
We have been there on a couple of occasions, so the food is not bad and the overall atmosphere is pleasant. I think the one thing that I must say is that the owner/host can be a little abrupt. On one occasion we were having a late dinner, but the place was not closing anytime soon. We were finishing our drinks and talking a little and the owner came over and basically told us we needed to wrap it up. There was still a half filled bar that didn't appear to be leaving anytime soon, so we felt a little rushed. When we went in the other night the twon was pretty busy with a fishing derby going on. We had made 7 pm reservations but found it difficult to find a parking spot nearby, SO I ended up parking several blocks away. I had dropped off my date at the restaurant because we were already 10 minutes late. She walked in and gave our reservation to him and rather than saying welcome or any other greeting he simply said, "You're late". So it was a little uncomfortable to start with. Overall the food was decent and the Pinot Noir was tasty and fairly reasonable in price.
Isola is one of the few Martha’s Vineyard’s year-round Restaurant so if you reside on island or whatever time you visit, you can count on them offering outstanding cuisine, cocktails, and dessert.
Pizza Joint Atmosphere at Fine Dining Prices
Disappointing experience with high prices, even by Vineyard standards, indifferent service and mediocre food quality. By way of background, we have been coming to the Vineyard for over 30 years where we have frequented most of the restaurants. There are other venues In Edgartown which charge comparable prices but offer a significantly more enjoyable dining ambiance and better food.
The evening was overall average. We ordered the lobster with polenta which was the bright side and the ribeye which in past reviews came highly recommended. The steak tasted more like a sirloin and was fairly tough and unflavorful. Perhaps we just ordered the wrong thing on the menu. The service was fine. Nothing exceptional.
Drinks, Apps and Entrees were all very good. Staff and service were great too. Highly recommend.
Best meal on Martha's Vinyard! I wanted to find a restaurant that served excellent food but wasn't too fussy or pretentious, and we hit the jackpot. This is a family-owned gem with the full spectrum of food from pizza to the most delicious homemade pastas to a memorable house-cured ribeye grilled to perfection. I mentioned it was my parents anniversary and the owner and his son went out of their way to make them feel special. Cannot say good enough things about the food and the waitstaff. It was the first time in many days that I wasn't made to feel like just another tourist.
Isola is a great find. Wonderful menu and kitchen. Attentive, competent service. Located conveniently in the heart of Edgartown. Friendly proprietor and staff. Warm atmosphere. All in all, an excellent choice.
David was a great server- very attentive.
The owner Peter and his daughter were fantastic. We were here for an anniversary dinner and they went out of their way to make our evening memorable.
Our whole experience was wonderful! Everyone loved their pasta entre and salad. We look forward to returning next summer to Isola!
Great food, friendly attentive staff. Isola is a new restaurant in the location of an old neighborhood favorite in the summer mecca of Edgartown. It is a worthy replacement. We went with old friends after hearing good things about Isola all summer, and are sorry we waited so long to try it. Unlike many places on Martha's Vineyard, Isola strives to stay open all year, which requires ongoing loyalty from the local year-rounders.
Creative, very tasty menu selection, heirloom tomatoes and great tasty ingredients.
Great dinner, well executed appetizers and entres, desserts option were limited
We were disappointed with Isola. The food was ordinary and the ambiance charmless. But the biggest problem was finding our way into the restaurant - we wandered around the building for about ten minutes and encountered two skunks before calling through a window and asking a guest to show us how to get in.
Excellent drinks! The food was also very good! The dining room was very nice and the pizza was excellent !
Small portions....poor quality of food...terrible bread basket...overpriced....will never recommend or return
You can order a half order of pasta or a pizza. Or you can spend real money and you won't be disappointed.
Fantastic food great appetizers and the service was fast and very efficient. Loved the specials and this is no ordinary Italian restaurant. Don't miss it if you are in Edgartown
Great place to bring young WELL BEHAVED children for an early res.(Figure late diners do not want to have kids around)
. Staff attentive to food (nut) allergies.
EVeryone very pleasant. A restaurant has been in that spot for a long time and it is as good as it has ever been.
Dishes were surprisingly inventive without being precious.
It is open all year round which is a big plus especially since food is so good
This was a dining experience, we had 14 different plates and they were all exceptional , this was not at all traditional Italian it had an unmistakable flair! The service was friendly and we were not at all rushed, just what the doctor ordered. Great Wine selection as well!
The restaurant location is perfect, a few blocks away from the Main Street/
The best time to have dinner about 6:30-7:00 because after dinner you can enjoy dancing in a few bars on Main street.
Our waitress Sarah was extremely friendly and made us feel special. The lobster gnocchi was outstanding and it was very convenient that you can order half size portions and try a few different dishes. Also, we were amazed by Chef's Jimmy creativity for his daily specials. We tried smoked tuna's special and we amazed by the food presentation and the taste of the food.
I highly recommend Tiramisu and Plum sorbet for dessert. Great place for celebrations and for enjoying great food.
Good place for a bottle of wine and romantic dinner, very reasonable price for drinks.
Can't wait to come back!!!!
The restaurant is a charming and fairly quiet spot. The service was pleasant and fairly efficient. The food was ok- not great. Ordered a yellowfin tuna over pasta special which didn't have much flavor and was drowning in oil. Other dishes ordered at our table were just ok- nobody was raving as far as I can remember. maybe worth another try- not sure.
Great service. Everyone enjoyed both starters and entrees. Wine selection impressive. Great find.
Really great food. Especially ricotta gnocchi and lobster. Half portion is terrific option too.
We have been to Isola several times in the past few months and have enjoyed every meal.. The service is attentive without being obtrusive, the food is very good, and the ambience welcome.
Overall, my husband and I enjoyed our dining experience at Isola very much. We would highly recommend this restaurant and look forward to dining there again.
Enjoyed Isola while visiting Martha's Vineyard with family and celebrating our sister and brother-in-law's anniversary. The whole experience was delightful, helped along by our very friendly and interesting waitress Sarah.
The drinks were superb and the main course dishes were really well prepared and flavorful. The hand made linguine with clams was a big hit for our table. Our guests commented that the serving size of the ceviche which was not large enough to share. The beets, grilled Caesar salad and the eggplant provided a few extra tasty shared bites.
Our waitress Sarah was a kick and we really enjoyed both visiting with her about her summer on the island and hearing her sing! She made the evening even more special for our anniversary couple.
We all enjoyed our m ears. The lobster gnocchi was outstanding!
Very nice service staff, lovely patio.
Isola is one of our favorite restaurants. The service, atmosphere, and of course food, especially the chef's specials of the day, are consistently outstanding. I highly recommend it to islanders and visitors alike.
We've been going to Isola for several years and it's always been a decent restaurant. This year it has upped it's game considerably and is now an excellent restaurant. The service was very good and very accommodating. For example, I asked if the bar made Sangria and although it was not one of their drinks the bartender made a very good Sangria for me. The appetizers and the mains were very creative and delicious. I liked that several of the mains had half portions, which allowed me to put together a couple of appetizers and a half main.
Excellent Italian restaurant- food and service were great!
Kid friendly restaurant with great service and food.
Isola far surpassed our greatest expectations. The food was absolutely delicious, service was excellent, the owner, waitstaff and bartender were warm and friendly. We were treated like very valuable customers. I was ready to go back the next evening - and will be sure to return before my vacation ends. Can highly recommend.
Exceptional menu of actual Italian cooking with a modern twist. Outstanding service by Erica. She is smart, knowledgeable, friendly, and efficient.
We loved dinner on Monday, and went right back for more on Tuesday. Met the owner on the way out then. He runs a tight ship and was everywhere, watching everything.
My girlfriend is a wonderful cook, and stopped Chef Jimmy to ask for how he did a couple of things.
One of the best restaurants I have ever visited
Loved the option of half portions. Very different take on Caesar salad. Very good home made pasta.
Great bartender, great drinks, great food. We highly recommend it!
