The message at Isme Restaurant is simple: Welcome home.

In Middle Eastern culture, hospitality is a way of life - the door is always open, the coffee is always brewing, and guests are welcomed like family.

We have built this brand upon our inherent passion for and cultural identity in Lebanese cuisine and hospitality.

Since relocating from Fitzroy to Thornbury, our menu has evolved from traditional Lebanese food to a more contemporary style of dining which grasps inspiration from all over the Middle East.

We invite you to develop a fascination and love for the food that we have crafted and perfected over the course of our lives.

Isme is a labour of love; our food seasoned with it, our drinks garnished with it and our team draped in it to gift to you upon arrival.

Shared between two and left very full: Mountain bread with Baba Gaboush 10/10, Cauliflower mezze 10/10 Grilled zucchini main 9/10 Mum’s fatoush 8/10 (was getting a bit too much vinegar by this stage) Baklava baked cheesecake 10/10 Will definitely visit again and have very similar meal as there are few vegetarian options.

Service was just okay, nothing stood out. Unfortunately, we felt rushed and underwhelmed, especially when we were subtly pushed out midway through dessert. Not the relaxed dining experience we were hoping for.

This place has a nice ambience but its decor does not absorb sound waves so it was very loud talking to someone across the dinner table. You really have to raise your voice, which is quite unpleasant. My daughter couldn't wait for me to try the prawns but they were really sour and disappointing. Most of the dishes had the same sauce which was really sour. We overheard the couple next to us saying the same thing about the dishes being too sour, especially the prawns. Our bill came to $211 for two people, which i think was too expensive.

The flavours and smells from the open kitchen set a good ambience. The food was tasty with a modest selection of delightful tasty dishes. Attentive service but on a cold night the dining room was quite chilled and cold air blasted through.

Thoroughly enjoyed our night at Isme, the food was delicious with a modern take. The staff were very helpful on a busy night. Looking forward to our return.

Amazing service coupled with amazing food. All aspects of the experience were exceptional with very friendly staff, great ambience and amazing food and cocktails. Highly recommend for everyone
