Seafood
At the Island Way Grill, we're all about fresh fish. Our own boats make daily trips to the middle grounds to bring back fresh tuna, mahi, snapper and other local varieties. No long-line fish here-just hook, rod, and reel. If it's any fresher, it is still in the gulf. Most of our cooking revolves around our oak and citrus fired open pit, which sears at an extremely high temperature and adds a delicious smokiness to everything grilled. You'll find an abundance of fresh herbs and only the best quality seasonings. Fresh vegetables are used throughout our menu, and all soups and sauces are hand-prepared. We are also proud to provide an excellent selection of the worlds best oysters flown in fresh for your enjoyment. In addition to our menu, our chefs prepare a varied assortment of daily specials that always add an element of interest to our every-day offerings.

We had eaten here before, but this time while the food was fine the service was ridiculously bad.

When we arrived the staff at the reception were rude to the people in front of us, then told us that they did not take reservations for the outside terrace, despite the fact that this was the option we'd taken when booking through OpenTable. We were directed to the bar to wait for a table, where the staff and drinks were fine, but when we got to our table the service was again terrible.

When I ordered the crab bisque our waiter told me to order something else, without saying whether the soup was off or there was some other issue with it. We ordered some white wine, but said that my wife would also take a glass of red with her steak. Our entrees arrived before the plates had been taken from our starters, with no sign of the waiter or the red wine. And the entree that arrived for my wife was not what she'd ordered.

When we finally got the waiter's attention he seemed confused that neither the entree nor the wine were what we'd ordered. By this time my wife was pretty upset. The food was fine (the steak excellent quality but overcooked, my lobster okay), but we ended up spending nearly $200 for a dinner where the food was competent but the service was not, with attitude. When the waiter was bringing us the check he fell flat on his face on the way over to the table, so maybe he was having a bad day. He certainly seemed distracted.

For a place that seems to sell itself as fairly high-end, the service tonight was insulting. And this from a couple who spend much of the year in France and previously lived in New York, so we know something about service attitude!

Second time in a few days -- service is excellent but make sure you ask for the quiet area to
avoid all the kids etc etc. Now it is not a wonderful exotic menu but one which is basic and
very well cooked. The starters are huge - one between 2 is all that is needed. The Tuna dish
is great - what a cut and so well cooked or in my case so little cooked. The wines are limited
and sold by the glass but ask and you get a bottle price - I would seriously recommend the
more expensive Zinfandel.

Had reservations after checking in with the hostess who told us 5 minutes for the table 25 minutes later was seated. Waited right by hostess desk they sat other people completely forgot us then said it was a glitch with their computer. Then our appetizers were never brought out because they forgot them but sent them home with us so we could pay for them.

The server was extremely efficient, willing to give opinions, went out of her way to make my friend feel special on her birthday and was upbeat and smiley. My early bird stir fry was scrumptious. The noise level was loud especially with my weak hearing. I requested a window seat but was placed in the middle which didn’t help with hearing.
My friend was really impressed, so you did very well overall.

disappointed with this visit. The soup came at the same time as the drinks. Everything uncoordinated. This is the last time we order the cheesecake. It was not good. Not really a cheesecake and over-priced. We had been lookng forward to this visit as the previous one was outstanding in everyway.

The food was good but not very hot. The service was excellent and it is lovely but it was very noisy in the room we sat in due to several large parties. Try the combo dessert! It was to die for, but the coffee was fair partly because I don’t think they served it with cream and milk doesn’t enhance the coffee at all.

I ordered the large Porterhouse steak cooked to a medium temperature. The steak came out rare. I sent it back. It was returned to me 20 minutes later as a small Porterhouse. Clearly a new steak which was fine, but no longer the correct size. Additionally I ordered French Fries with the steak, the second steak was brought out with mashed potatoes. When I told the waiter, he returned with cold French Fries. I didn't say anything, just didn't eat them. If a cook doesn't know what Medium is, use a thermometer (135-140 Degrees is medium). If a customer is sending a meal back, when it is brought out the second time, it should be perfect. By the way, it should have been perfect the first time.

The waiter needs training. Reached over others to serve salad. Left dressing off salad. Didn’t introduce himself or tell us about the specials. Wasn’t prepared for dietary concerns. Very disappointing! Seemed to have lots more tables outside- too crowded and noisy! Overall disappointed since it had been our favorite restaurant in the area. No gluten free menu!

We were seated outside and were immediately taken aback by the view. The ambiance was incredible. You cant go wrong with water, lights, and a beautiful deck. The waitress was very helpful and very personable while maintaining a professional demeanor. The food arrived quickly and was servved hot . The presentation and flavor were amazing. I've dined at every major restaurant in the area. Island Way is the finest overall. Ambiance, food quality and a great staff. Well done, from your newest regular!!!!

Very amateur........Terrible service.....they were out of soft shell crab appetizer but did not tell us until other diners were served their apps so one diner had to wait 10minutes to get new app. They also made a mistake on order for one main course so that diner had to wait 10 minutes while others ate. Very noisy from loud wedding reception in next room. Never again.

After ordering salmon I received a piece that was at the base of the tail, about 1/8 inch thin. This should never have been served. They did replace the piece but forgot the pineapple salsa. When it came it did not look fresh and did not taste quite right. Was sick that night. The menu for early bird used to contain several choices of non shellfish fish but no longer. Only a very spicy salmon dish and the baked salmon with pineapple salsa. Very disappointing. Would only recommend for meat and shellfish eaters.

We were not offered bread & herbs, we asked for bread it came with no herbs. We were not asked if we wanted soup or salad the waiter ordered us salad, we asked for soup much to the waiters disappointment
We were not asked how we wanted our steak so the waiter ordered rare. That was fine for me but not for my wife. Three dinners came to the table ( there was only two of us) we told the server they was not ours. Then our waiter came along and said to my wife, you did order two Bay you beef, she said yes, then he said o sorry wrong table. Then a few minutes latter he brought our meal. This Is not the usual experience we have at the Island House, we hope for better service next time.

we have been to Island Way many times, this time the service was lacking,
Soup served without bread and it took a long time before the bread came out. We had already completed out appetizers and soup before the bread came out. Then the wait in between courses was unreasonably long. The quality of the food was very good. But without service, it leaves a bad taste in my mouth.

Oysters Rockefeller was an excellent appetizer. The special strawberry salad (strawberries are in season in FL) was superb. The special Mahi seafood tower very tasty. Great place and we will be back when in Clearwater Beach.

When I arrived the hostess was no where to be seen. Walked into the restaurant to look for her when a waiter said he would seat us. Was concerned as a sign on the door said they'd be closing at 6PM and it was 5:15 PM when I arrived. No mention of this on the web site. When our waitress finally came she said we did not have to rush but at 7PM the valet came to our table to give us our car keys. Also had to ask for the specials menu twice but the food was good.
