Island
Please note that we cannot take reservations for specific tables though we will do our best to accommodate a request.
Valentines day not ideal time for dinner. Not one item on menu special for VD and staff seemed either short or overwhelmed. We had better experiences on quieter nights there
Wonderful as always.
Island remains a favorite of mine. The staff is kind and gracious and where else could I go and hear an hour or more of the Grateful Dead, quietly and unobtrusively I might quickly add. Please do not change and please do not close!
Excellent basic menu and sea bass special was superb.
I also come back for the tomato soup
Very enjoyable lunch in between Guggenheim exhibits.
Charming neighborhood restaurant with a quiet dignified buzz.
The hostess was extremely unpleasant. She claimed I had no reservation even when I showed her my confirmation. Then she tried to make us leave or change tables before we were finished our meal as she wanted the table. The wait staff were wonderful- pleasant and helpful, even offering us a free dessert to apologize for hostess’s behavior. It was a small damper on an otherwise nice meal.
Perfect!!!
Our soup was great!
Our salads were as well.
And they have a limited menu (with specials), which, actually, I much prefer.
Great neighborhood restaurant to go to with friends, also very child friendly. Food was great.
A lovely little neighborhood place with GREAT salads and very good food, generally. I am glad to be a regular patron.
Ran in for a quick lunch with my husband before heading to a concert at the 92 ST Y. Was recommended by a friend. Wasn't expecting all that much and boy, was I pleasantly surprised. It was a very quiet day so the atmosphere was perfect for a relaxed meal. And the food was absolutely delicious. Really good bread and olive oil, very tasty roasted tomato soup and a fabulous baby kale salad. Husband had the quesadillas. Attentive service. We don't live in NYC but when back would definitely return here. Just delightful.
was a very good experience service was excellent food and drinks were both good as expected. The ambiance was excellent and noise level good. I would recommend it and I will go there again.
Everything was fine . However we did have to wait for our table .
My favorite local place
Island remains one of my favorite places. There are so few spots in Manhattan, specifically the UES, where I can have two drinks, write two emails and reflect a bit all before anyone asks me what I would like for dinner. I appreciate the chance to unwind without feeling any pressure to get on with things.
I went to Island with a friend and we had a lovely lunch. The popovers were delicious and my goat cheese omelette was also. Coffee was quite good and service was attentive. It’s a bit expensive but that’s the neighborhood. Yes I would return again.
Maine lobster quesadilla is delish!
Food was delicious! Will definitely go back again.
Lovely restaurant, excellent food and popovers to make it more memorable. Seating is tight, so difficult to hold a private conversations.
We have been to Island for both lunch and dinner and liked it very much. It's in our neighborhood, has an attractive decor, and good food. We're always searching for a place that is quiet enough to have an actual conversation, and this worked (we went early to make sure--6:45, but it was still OK at 7:30 but getting livelier. The staff is friendly and we felt at home.
Usually, the restaurant is great, but this time the food was not very good. The pear salad was terrible and so was the potato leek soup.
We were looking for a restaurant for an early dinner after visiting a museum on Fifth Ave., and were glad to find Island. We enjoyed our meal, especially the soup, crab cakes and duck. Service could have been a little more attentive - if felt like they were under-staffed - but was fine. Island a good place to know about in this neighborhood, and I will return.
This restaurant does not disappoint! It’s great for a casual dinner, a special dinner, lunch, brunch, everything! The food is excellent and the staff is lovely!
You can count on this carnegie hill favorite for a lively familiar crowd, reliable and tasty fare and friendly service.
I had a beet salad that was good but too small for a main course. Desserts were very disappointing.
Everything was quite good. Only negative was they didn’t recognize the reservation made through open table. Was confusing. Food delicious.
Much better place for lunch than dinner.
I eat there once a week. Don’t like the tables along the bar. If you aren’t facing the person you are eating with...it’s really not engaging or comfortable
Food was great and you are always welcomed upon arrival Service was good as well.
Great place
A lovely restaurant with a pleasant nautical theme. The popovers were delicious and the food good (we had salads). It is tight in there and we were uncomfortably close to other tables, unable to sit over our meal and enjoy it for long. Service pleasant but not pushy.
Our food ended up taking over an hour and a half. My friend even asked me if this was normal and if we should try to find the waitress. One table nearby had arrived before us and also hadn't received food, but another table had arrived after us, received their food, and paid their bill. I was really so shocked by the service. The waitress didn't even keep us updated until we had waited an hour. Even then, she only came a couple times in the hour and a half to tell us "Just two more minutes". Even though they gave us dessert for our trouble, I will be wary recommending them anymore.
I ordered a bloody mary which i don't drink very often but thought i remembered they made a good one. oops, it was terrible. nothing good to say about it.
Great meal. Had the Lobster quesadillas and the vegetable stir fry.
‘Great food, ambience, service, value. ‘Love Island. Thank you!
Great for family dining and everyday easy
Love the burger!!
Wonderful, as always.
Excellent service, very good food in a neighborhood environment.
Courteous and efficient staff with delicious food and drunk!
Terrible service and food is only okay!! There are so many better brunch places in NYC. Don’t waste your time!
