Was in town for work from Atlanta and my teammate and I really wanted good seafood. After 20 minutes of research we found this place and reserved a spot. So glad we did! Food is fresh and very tasty, and there are options for everyone. Definitely a must try once place!
This was a lovely meal- fresh, local, interesting. The service was outstanding!
Wedge salad was fantastic and very unique wine list!
Loved this place! It was delicious and the best for fresh oysters! Great variety
Great, as always!
Nice oyster selection. Island Creek oysters are my favorite, but they had a dozen or more other farms on the menu. I had a sea bass dish and my wife had chicken. Both were excellent but surprisingly the chicken dish was the best of the night. For a guy that eats chicken four night s a week even I am surprised to say that!
The only oddity was that we arrived 8 minutes early for our reservation and the hostess was not very communicative. She just said "you can wait over there for eight minutes." There were tables open all around us so I waited a few minutes and asked what we were waiting for. Apparently the dining room was closed when we arrived so we sat in the bar area. It would have e been nice if the hostess suggested we could get a drink or sit in a different area. After I asked if that was possible, we were seated in the bar area. The waitstaff were very good including our British server (sorry I did not get her name?).
Worth going to again!
Great seafood! Really enjoyed the experience and the food is spectacular.
This place was amazing. It’s definitely with the price. The food was top of the line, service was friendly and knowledgeable. Overall very satisfied. 5 stars all the way!
excellent food and menu, good choicenof beer and wine without being overwhelming. the staples, clam chowder, lobster roll and fish and chips were all brilliantly executed.
Love it here. Would recommend it to anyone, anytime.
Although we live in Oklahoma, we always find a way to come here to eat whenever we’re on the East Coast. We love their oysters, shrimp, chowder, and various desserts! They have a large selection of oysters, and their shrimp look like small lobsters. It is always a very busy place, so book your reservations far in advance.
Foods are amazing, there were a lot of people so usually the wait time is going to be 30-60 mins if you didn’t make a reservation. Smoked salmon pate and clam chowder is a must have, lobster roe noodle is delicious!
My second time to Island Creek Oyster Bar in Kenmore Square looking for great oysters and seafood. This place has a number of great features - great food but a bit pricey, great raw bar, and good atmosphere! I was also over 30 minutes late to my reservation and the hostesses were awesome accommodating me but I have two major complaints. The wine list, which is a must with oysters in my opinion, was too pricey and probably 80% French so if you don't know french wine, you are out of luck. This was compounded with our terrible waiter. He was at our table every 2 minutes which goes past the "attentive" stage. In addition, his wine suggestions were terrible! I don't think he liked it when I didn't want to spend $180 on a bottle of white to go with the oysters. He had no patience, made us feel rushed and had crappy wine suggestions. I'd like to go back and recommend it to others but I will scope out the wine list BEFORE I go back in the future. Most people think I am very well versed in wine selections also so this is very rare. I will also accept this waiter again. He ruined what should have been a fun night at at $500 for 4, you should have fun!
name of oyster bar may be misleading. Menu has excellent choice of land and sea dishes. delicious food, excellent entree, yummy bread and butter.
The food was outstanding
The service friendly
the place gorgeous
Excellent seafood. Oysters are to die for. Delicious appetizers. Fish is very fresh, executed to perfection with creative sauces. Lobster pasta with short rib is delicious - surf and turf without having to dirty your fingers. Highly recommended
I went to the island Creek Oyster Bar with visiting friends from Florida. We tried oysters for the first time. Our waitress Carla was very knowledgeable and very sweet. We even received a complimentary dessert for trying the oysters. We had a lovely experience and I would definitely recommend it for anyone. Plus it was nice to be able to watch the Red Sox game in a quiet setting.
The dozen raw oysters we ordered were quite good but the fried clams were tasteless. We always love coming to Boston for fried clams with bellies. Back home in New Jersey we only get clam strips. We have had clams with bellies every time we come to Boston, at least 4 times a year and this is the first time they were so tasteless!
Beautiful interior, great clam chowder and a good selection of oysters to pick from. You get what you pay for, and prices of meal was on the high side therefore recommend this to me a special occasion restaurant.
Service was apathetic and rude. White wine didn't come with ice bucket. Waitress seemed uninterested in waitressing. Original server made a bad joke and left us with a bad start to dinner.
Wait staff, bar tenders, and hosts were incompetent and overwhelmed
Great location , nice food in the waterfront , perfect for lunch when you visit the museum of Contemporary Art.
This restaurant was one of the best dining experiences I’ve had in a long time. The service was amazing, the ambience was perfect, they had a great variety of oysters and drinks to choose from as well, and offer a lot of locally sourced foods. This was a great date night location and I highly recommend making a reservation.
Excellent oysters and oyster sliders!
Cod and scallops were pretty bad. Cod was seared too long on one side plus was left raw inside. Scallops too had a too strong sear. One can do better.
Great seafood. Fun atmosphere. Nice wine and beer options. A happening place!
Excellent as usual even if it was crowded due to Red Sox game at 3:00 PM
We made the reservation a week ahead and we were promptly seated when we arrived at the stipulated time. Some people had to wait 2-3 hours without a reservation. Oyster were fresh and succulent. Lobster roll was done very well - the toasted bun to the seasonings used were on point. Highly recommended.
Wonderful place to go before the baseball game but also for lunch any weekend. The staff were so nice (even after my brother split his entire beer). Extensive beer list, oysters were fresh, and the haak croquettes melted in my mouth. 10/10 recommend.
Oysters are good. Don’t really like the half Maine lobster. And do not have many choices about the main course.
Celebrated a birthday here with friends. Food and drinks were amazing. Our server was not great, did not offer much information about the menu and did not appear knowledgeable about anything we asked her about.
Fun place. Good food. Great oysters definitely a good choice
Great food and choice of drinks. Plenty of atmosphere but not too noisy.
Awesome service at the bar. My halibut was overcooked, but they compensated by comping a round and a dessert.
Salad - house green salad I had substituted instead of the potatoes and by gosh so delicious. Apparently a type of cherry vinaigrette. This place is always on my list when in town. Reservations recommended for sure.
I loved this place! Keep doing like this, it’s amazing! 🙂
This is a fine restaurant. The oysters were terrific and the food was excellent. ambience and noise level a bit bright for my taste but I prefer it quiet and this was moderate at most. Service was attentive. I brought my sister and husband visiting from Arizona and it was an excellent choice
It's almost ridiculous to write a review on Island Creek Oyster bar. There's really nothing to be critical about. The place is expertly managed and staffed. The food is clean, fresh and tasty seafood (the way it ought to be if you ask me) The cocktails are "crafty", the beer selection is good. The place is classy but casual, lively but not too noisy. It's not cheap but it's not a ripoff. If I lived in Boston I'd be there way too often!
I love it here. The Oysters are delicious and the service is great. Always my go to spot.
So good! Thanks for having us!
Island Creek Oyster Bar is in a very nice setting, right off of Kenmore Square, with a beautiful interior and delicious oysters. Probably like a number of places in Boston, it can get pricey pretty quickly. My wife and her cousin were not really satisfied with their food, especially considering the price, but my entree was fairly good. The oysters are phenomenal, and the service is ok. I likely won't go back myself, but I'd recommend giving it a try if you're in the neighborhood.
Our server Kayla was wonderful and went above and beyond to celebrate my husband’s 50th birthday. The food and drinks were outstanding as usual.
