This restaurant was recommended by a friend as having great vegetarian options and did not disappoint. Our waiter was wonderful and offered even more suggestions on ways they could adjust non-vegetarian dishes to be vegetarian. I went with his recommendation and loved my meal, as did my omnivore family.
Love Isabel for brunch. The service is friendly, personal and efficient. Everything I have had there has been tasty with the exception of pancakes. Noise level is a tad high which makes it great for groups and kid friendly. I would recommend Isabel for any meal at any time of day. Love it!
My food arrived completely cold. I asked the waitress to divide the bill by three and her response was “you get a free meal anyway” with the Passport I’ll just divide it by two. Basically what happened was I spent more for my meal than I would have if I didn’t have a discount. It would be nice if the wait staff did what they were asked to do. Pretty disappointing. I will try breakfast there one more time and if it isn’t better I’m done.
The theater buy one, get one free was great. But the food was blah. The ahi plate was delish, simple. But small. And wasabi sauce had very little wasabi. The trout special was attractive, but lacked flavor. The veggies cooked perfectly. The Buddha bowls were bland as well.
We arrived at 6 on a Saturday evening. There was only one server on the floor. She was nice, but unable to adequately serve the 6-7 tables she had as well as manage the bar. Not her fault, but the service was slow due to short staffing.
First time at Isabel Pearl and we had a wonderful experience. Our server, Rusty was super friendly and the food was delicious!
We took advantage of a buy one/get one deal with our theatre tickets. I had the chicken/steak lettuce wraps and my husband had the ahi tuna plate. Flavors were great!
Service was a bit slow due to a full restaurant, I imagine they could have used more than 2 servers on a Saturday night.
I've been before for brunch and prefer their brunch items to their dinner, so we'll plan on returning for brunch again!
The food was great, the ambience was beautiful, and the service was awesome. Thank you for such a great dinner. I would come back and i would recommend Isabel pearl to anyone.
We love Isabel Pearl.
Isabel was great for dinner! Food was delicious, reasonably priced, nice atmosphere, and quick service. Cocktails were good too. I’d definitely go back.
Fresh ingredients, innovative preparations, perfectly balanced seasoning.
Food was uninspiring, service was worse.
The best coconut French toast ever!!!!
It was my wife's and my first time there. We looked at the menu online and it looked quite good to us. When we got there we found out there was a Valentine's Day menu and it did not have anything on it we wanted.
We ordered the Carnitas Bowl and honestly, it was absolutely delicious. We would have it again in a heartbeat. The service was entertaining, the beer and wine was very good.
We would highly recommend this restaurant. Price was amazingly good for the amount and quality of food. A find when pricing out restaurants in the Pearl.
Food at Isabel was nice, but not special. Best dish we had was the vegetarian enchiladas.
However, the service was TOP DRAWER! Matt, our server did everything right, from his service to his smile! We were seated near the back door, and it was unfortunate that they didn't lock that door to keep it from bringing cold air in every time it was opened.
Excellent as always!
This has fast become my favorite lunch spot. Service is friendly and quick. Food is both delicious and healthy. And it isn't too spendy.
The food was ok, however it was very bland no real flavor
Open Table's reservations indicated that there were no tables available between 9 A.M. and 2 P.M. so we reserved a 2 P.M. table only to discover upon arrival that there had been plenty of tables available all day. They also had no record of our reservation but that was not a problem.
The food was outstanding as always but the Open Table reservation system failed this time. Oh well.
Restaurant was not open when we arrived for ou reservation.
We went to Isabel on a Saturday evening to celebrate my husband's birthday. Unfortunately, I don't understand why it has such high reviews. The food overall was fine, but unremarkable. The carnitas plantains were so bland as to be almost tasteless - the salsa and creme fresh was necessary to give it any hint of flavor. The grilled salmon was decent, if a bit overly sweet; the green beans that accompanied it were also fine, but the coconut rice was a sad half-bowl helping of somewhat stale and cold rice. The Buddha Bowl with tofu was also just okay - beans and rice somewhat bland (and, again, required salsa), but the tofu itself was actually nicely flavored and grilled to crisp (rather than deep-fried, which I appreciated). Both the salmon and bowl were nearly saved by the mango salsa, but too many of the mango pieces were under-ripe to make it truly satisfying. We both had house margaritas, which were also fine. The service was friendly, and the space itself pleasant enough. It wasn't terrible, but I probably wouldn't go back.
This was our first visit. I selected them because it was close to the theatre that we planned on attending later that night. (12/16/17) I set my expectations low...and got blown away. Great food and service. The guys had the seafood special (mussels and scallops) and the girls had wraps with generous portions of beef and chicken to put inside.
Thanks for a great meal!
The door didn't close all the way allowing cold air to blow in.
It was very cold in the restaurant. We decided to leave before ordering.
Our second time eating here in the last few months. Really have enjoyed the yummy, high-quality food and the service has been excellent each time.
Fish special was nicely cooked with a mango salsa.
Roasted vegetable platter was actually mostly steamed vegetables except for the zucchini and mushrooms. Steamed broccoli is just not as interesting as roasted broccoli.
Great food. Our server was amazing. He really made the experience for us.
I was surprised at how tasty and interesting the food here was. This is more Latin-American fusion than Asian as I saw a description. The selection is wide, and healthy choices are available. The quality goes beyond expectations, since the decor is minimal casual and tables are not well arranged. Staff was nice and helpful if not exactly efficient. This was a very pleasant experience. I certainly recommend Isabel Pearl.
The food was fantastic. The cocktails not so much. Our meals were creative, visually attractive and absolutely delicious. My cocktail tasted liked rubbing alcohol and my husband's was just okay. We would definitely return but instead of a cocktail I'd opt for wine.
Great unique flavors and very fresh yummy food! I don't know how to describe the type of cuisine, almost a latin/Asian fusion. Spicy of you Want it and very flavorful. We'll go back for sure!
Great service and the food was delicious! Will go again!!
The restaurant is incredible and the food is delicious. Our server was very diligent and friendly. My only request is a better layout for seating. It's crowded and even the servers have trouble maneuvering the tables.
Isabel is a great place for a meal before a play at Portland Center Stage or anytime you are out and about in The Pearl. Isabel is only 2 blocks to the theatre and the food is healthy, fresh and delicious.
The restaurant needs better management, a more inviting environment and better trained servers. I was disappointed.
Service excellent, food excellent, drinks excellent. Great location. YES! Never fails.
Isabels is our "go to" for grabbing a bite when in the Pearl.... it has healthy options, service is usually friendly and fast, food tastes great, and is reasonably priced. All add up for a win in my book.
Although we made a reservation, they were able to accommodate us earlier than the time we booked. The waiter was very helpful explaining the menu and answering our questions. The place wasn't busy and our food was ready super fast. The only negative thing is that my Mexican mocha was not very hot, and I like to drink it slowly so it was cold in the end. Overall, the food was filling, tasty and plenty, with lots of gluten-free options!
I received such great feedback from my colleagues whom I set a business meeting dinner for at your location. My boss thanked me for choosing a "Fantastic choice!" restaurant with great food and service. Because of our work schedules and for some the commute we needed a reservation after 7pm. Isabel Pearl was so accommodating and their online reservation site was incredibly user friendly and offered many reminders for us. The restaurant closes at 9pm and my team was allowed to stay until 9:30pm to complete their meeting and meal. MANY THANKS!
First visit and will definitely return again next time we are in PDX. Service was friendly and attentive. Quality food and cocktails. Great atmosphere.
We celebrated a birthday at Isabel Pearl and had a wonderful time. Rusty was an amazing, personable, attentive server, and made us laugh. The Buddha Bowl with carnitas added was very tasty.
