Great food and service
In terms of quality of food, this is what I like to call a “big portion restaurant” that’s trying to pass themselves off as fine dining. The scallops were fantastic, if only I had more than 4. I took issue with the mound of mashed potatoes and freezer like peas and corn. I came in expecting a flavor packed meal, but left feeling like my money would be better spent at the Cheesecake Factory. The host was great, the service ok. The experience was also tainted by our being seated right next to the service monitor and entrance to the restaurant hall, where multiple people constantly came in and out.
This is my favorite restaurant in SF. Always has been and was so glad to see it survived the pandemic. Worth braving the Golden Gate traffic to get there. The food was always exceptional and hasn’t lost any of that after a decade and COVID. Highly recommend.
Service was horrible, waiter was rude to my partner, and the portions were small. Would not recommend to a friend.
Cena familiar excelente. El personal muy amable y atentos. Los platos deliciosos todos, las porciones generosas para compartir. Muy buen precio. Gran lugar, regresaría con gusto
I hadn't been to Isa in years, but it was just as good as I remember. The flavors were wonderful in every dish. My dinner companion enjoyed it very much too. So good in fact, we added two additional dishes.
The waiter was a bit gruff, but we didn't see him too much, so we were fine.
I look forward to going back!
I have dined here many times and this is the 1st time return after the pandemic and quite disappointed.
The waiter came took our order and never return to check on us. The price on the menu increased and I am OK with it but the Baguette was always part of the meal and they start charging $4 for 4 slices of thin baguette "humm!!". I ordered my food along with the baguette and We waited 40 minutes and no food I Under they may be under staffed but they did not even bring the baguette. I dine in this restaurant mainly because we enjoy the Foie gras but this time it tasted very bland it tasted like imitation not the real duck froie gras. Just a disappointment evening!!
Delicious food and wonderful service...can't wait to go back!
Wonderful experience! They allowed us in before opening to get out of the cold, even getting us a pot of tea. Started with the Pt. Reyes Oysters, the sauce was very good, oysters were tasty!. Also had the lobster broth and Truffle Risotto. Broth was good but the risotto was fantastic. My wife enjoyed the duck breast very much. We finished the meal with the creme brulee and flour less cake. Both were very good. My wife commented that the brulee was one of the best she's had. Staff were all very engaging and seemed to enjoy conversation with each table, often spending several minutes which I actually enjoyed. We will be back on our next visit. Thanks for a great time.
Always loved Isa, however was
ALL FIVE DISHES we ordered, were GREAT! This is especially appreciated since we are still in the pandemic era, where whatever some of the other restaurants are doing to save money, is reducing the quality of their food. The service was good. Compared to our previous visits to Isa, a few years ago, we did notice that the prices were kind of gouge-ish, but, because the food WAS very good, I'm giving Isa the benefit of the doubt by assuming that is to compensate for the economic damage the pandemic has done to business. I hope Isa survives and continues to serve very good food. Good luck to them, we will circle back, soon.
Held a very nice birthday party for 10 in back patio. Food and our server Esteban was excellent!
The service was pretty bad. We ordered 2 drinks and a small appetizer to share. After several minutes only 1 cocktail was brought to the table....it took about 20 minutes to bring the 2nd one. We asked about ordering our main courses but the waiter either ignored the request or didn’t hear. Our appetizer finally arrived.....but the waiter plopped it on the table and left immediately instead of taking our orders for the main course. The 2nd cocktail arrived after the appetizer. We finally flagged the waiter down and gave him our orders for the main course. The mains were ok flavor wise ( though the duck was a bit too cooked)....but delivered lukewarm...a disappointment. Oddly..they have potted orchids in the back room with the paper tags from where they were purchased still hanging on each plant. Very tacky. And....they use paper napkins which also brings the level down. A lot of room for improvement.
Food was good but not amazing. Also we were seated right by the kitchen which didnt make the experience great
Order got messed up and no compensation.
I chose this place for the surprise birthday party. The food was good overall but we had an unpleasant experience with the service..
The day of our reservation the restaurant made menu changes but the kitchen was still serving old dishes. One of my friends started having an allergic reaction to the apple sauce that wasn’t stated in the new menu. Two other friends got meals that did not match the description either.
Neither of them were offered new meals, and any compensation at first was denied by the owner. From what I understood his arguments were:
1. he is also allergic to apples and he understands how it feels
2. the place doesn’t make money on food, so he can’t remove wrong meals from the check
The rest of the team however was really nice and tried to make sure we still had a good time 👍
But I would not be coming back to a place where the owner does not take the responsibility for when things go wrong and values short term profit over long term customers.
Food was tasty as always - the truffle spaghetti was incredible!
They accidentally sat someone at our reserved table, waiting 45 mins after our reservation to be seated, meal entrees took hours to arrive
Fois gras fantastic
Sea bass and lamb good but over cooked.
Fantastic food! You could make a n entire meal out of the starters. Our favorites were the food grad, crab salad and hamachi. Rave reviews from our group included the sea bass, steak and duck. The wine list is substantial and the cosmopolitans and manhattans were are definitely high quality
Great outdoor dining experience and attentive staff! Really enjoyed the dungeness crab salad and truffle risotto.
Wonderful wait staff. Great atmosphere. Fun vibe. Delicious food!! Amazing.
Food is amazing!
We used to go to Isa quite often, however, when we went this time, we were sadly disappointed. Not only did they not honor the Sunday to Thursday prefix menu, they no longer serve bread. You have to pay extra for bread. On top of that, our meal was way too slow in coming out. We only ordered appetizers and entrees but it took over 1.75 hours. We were seated and ordered our meal 20 minutes prior to the other table, and we got our appetizers only 2 minutes prior to the other table. We were not the only ones. I saw at the other end of the restaurant that this man was anchoring his hand to his head from waiting so long too. We realized after we left the restaurant why they were so slow. The outside of the restaurant was packed with outdoor diners. The patrons were almost doubled the restaurant's normal size so obviously they are way too many customers and not enough staff to cook the meals. Our waiter only came by 3 times to check up on us. I am very disappointed as we want to support our favorite restaurants but the wait is just too long.
We had so much fun at Isa! The seating ambience was awesome, and there were plenty of outdoor heaters to keep us from freezing. Due to my friends running late AND heavy Golden Gate Bridge traffic, we ended up being almost an hour late to our reservation, but we called and the owner, Sam, was so helpful and understanding and they were able to take us right before the kitchen closed. Jim, our waiter, was amazing! He was super friendly and funny and great at his job. Really fun crowd at the restaurant too, lots of young people drinking and laughing and enjoying themselves — great vibes and great ambience! The food was delicious, we couldn’t get enough of the spaghetti and the truffle risotto. We had crème brûlée and vanilla gelato for dessert and it was fire. Our only complaint was that the margaritas were way overpriced ($17 each) and really did not taste good, but we figured that’s because they were so strong. Some people might enjoy them though! If you’re going out with friends and planning on getting drinks, just do a bottle or two of wine for the table, that’s what we would have done. Other than that, the place was awesome and we had such an enjoyable time! Amazing service. Thanks Sam and Jim!
Great food and friendly service at our local neighborhood favorite restaurant once again. Loved the outdoor dining atmosphere - fun for people (and dog) watching!
Their process of bringing out dishes whenever they're ready is a spotty approach. We were finished with our entrees and took the vegetable side "to go" because it hadn't been served. Got it with the check. Wine by the glass options were less than stellar. Sent back the horrible Chardonnay and got a bottle of something drinkable. A helluva way to upsell. There are dozens of restaurants in the Marina. I'd try something different next time.
Had dinner for 4 with family.
Recommended:: calamari with beans
ses scallops, flank steak
They were pretty good except unfortunately they lost our order and we had to wait another 30 mins. It wasn't enough to make us unhappy though, things like that happen. It was just unlucky
Always a great meal here. The staff is always attenative.
Sea bass was not fresh tasting, Foie gras was over cooked on the edges, and my rack of lamb came after my two other friends were pretty much done with their entrees. It not only came super late, it was tough. The manager came to inquire about the experience, we told him and he offered an apology. That’s pretty much it .
Food was very good. The restaurant isn't particularly well appointed.
The food was good and the people are nice. However had to wait about an hour to get two out of the three dinner courses. Finally had to give up on the third course paid the bill and left.
Always have a great experience at this Marina restaurant. Food is superb!! Service is very friendly & efficient. A very energetic "vibe" & fun for fine dining!!
Graduation dinner for family. Outstanding food and service. Cant wait to go back
Great tasting food and awesome staff working at ISA. Appreciate the attentiveness of staff and flexibility to change some things up
Very good food as usual but service was uneven. Wines by the glass options were a bit weak as well.
We picked this restaurant because they had sweetbreads on the menu. We made a special trip in from the East Bay and they did not have the Sweetbreads. Husband was very disappointed. We ended up getting the crab salad, grilled calamari, potato wrapped fish and the truffle risotto. Food was very good but still disappointed. If we go back will have to call first. U fortunately there was a table of 3 loud women sitting near us.
This was our first time at Isa and both the food we ate and the service we received were exceptional. We highly recommend this wonderful French food restaurant
