Wonderful wait staff. Great atmosphere. Fun vibe. Delicious food!! Amazing.
Food is amazing!
We used to go to Isa quite often, however, when we went this time, we were sadly disappointed. Not only did they not honor the Sunday to Thursday prefix menu, they no longer serve bread. You have to pay extra for bread. On top of that, our meal was way too slow in coming out. We only ordered appetizers and entrees but it took over 1.75 hours. We were seated and ordered our meal 20 minutes prior to the other table, and we got our appetizers only 2 minutes prior to the other table. We were not the only ones. I saw at the other end of the restaurant that this man was anchoring his hand to his head from waiting so long too. We realized after we left the restaurant why they were so slow. The outside of the restaurant was packed with outdoor diners. The patrons were almost doubled the restaurant's normal size so obviously they are way too many customers and not enough staff to cook the meals. Our waiter only came by 3 times to check up on us. I am very disappointed as we want to support our favorite restaurants but the wait is just too long.
We had so much fun at Isa! The seating ambience was awesome, and there were plenty of outdoor heaters to keep us from freezing. Due to my friends running late AND heavy Golden Gate Bridge traffic, we ended up being almost an hour late to our reservation, but we called and the owner, Sam, was so helpful and understanding and they were able to take us right before the kitchen closed. Jim, our waiter, was amazing! He was super friendly and funny and great at his job. Really fun crowd at the restaurant too, lots of young people drinking and laughing and enjoying themselves — great vibes and great ambience! The food was delicious, we couldn’t get enough of the spaghetti and the truffle risotto. We had crème brûlée and vanilla gelato for dessert and it was fire. Our only complaint was that the margaritas were way overpriced ($17 each) and really did not taste good, but we figured that’s because they were so strong. Some people might enjoy them though! If you’re going out with friends and planning on getting drinks, just do a bottle or two of wine for the table, that’s what we would have done. Other than that, the place was awesome and we had such an enjoyable time! Amazing service. Thanks Sam and Jim!
Great food and friendly service at our local neighborhood favorite restaurant once again. Loved the outdoor dining atmosphere - fun for people (and dog) watching!
Their process of bringing out dishes whenever they're ready is a spotty approach. We were finished with our entrees and took the vegetable side "to go" because it hadn't been served. Got it with the check. Wine by the glass options were less than stellar. Sent back the horrible Chardonnay and got a bottle of something drinkable. A helluva way to upsell. There are dozens of restaurants in the Marina. I'd try something different next time.
Had dinner for 4 with family.
Recommended:: calamari with beans
ses scallops, flank steak
They were pretty good except unfortunately they lost our order and we had to wait another 30 mins. It wasn't enough to make us unhappy though, things like that happen. It was just unlucky
Always a great meal here. The staff is always attenative.
Sea bass was not fresh tasting, Foie gras was over cooked on the edges, and my rack of lamb came after my two other friends were pretty much done with their entrees. It not only came super late, it was tough. The manager came to inquire about the experience, we told him and he offered an apology. That’s pretty much it .
Food was very good. The restaurant isn't particularly well appointed.
The food was good and the people are nice. However had to wait about an hour to get two out of the three dinner courses. Finally had to give up on the third course paid the bill and left.
Always have a great experience at this Marina restaurant. Food is superb!! Service is very friendly & efficient. A very energetic "vibe" & fun for fine dining!!
Graduation dinner for family. Outstanding food and service. Cant wait to go back
Great tasting food and awesome staff working at ISA. Appreciate the attentiveness of staff and flexibility to change some things up
Very good food as usual but service was uneven. Wines by the glass options were a bit weak as well.
We picked this restaurant because they had sweetbreads on the menu. We made a special trip in from the East Bay and they did not have the Sweetbreads. Husband was very disappointed. We ended up getting the crab salad, grilled calamari, potato wrapped fish and the truffle risotto. Food was very good but still disappointed. If we go back will have to call first. U fortunately there was a table of 3 loud women sitting near us.
This was our first time at Isa and both the food we ate and the service we received were exceptional. We highly recommend this wonderful French food restaurant
Sorry Isa! Maybe you're just opening back up but having your server also be the busser just wasn't the best experience and waiting long for drinks and meal to arrive. Food arrived lukewarm but not before getting served the wrong dish initially and the food runner looked confused as heck. Poor guy. I felt kind of bad for the staff as they were HUSTLING. I just don't think we'll be back unfortunately. I really wanted to like it, but the food was subpar and due to the short staff, just not a great dining experience for the price point. Seems they have a good spate of regulars, so hopefully that will keep them afloat.
Excellent food and service! We will be back soon!
I truly liked the food. I do not eat out often due to the food intolerances. However all 3 of us really enjoyed our food, and had a great meal. Here is what we had:
2 A La Carte (scallops and sea bass)
1 Prex Fixe (salad, steak and creme brule)
We shared some sides, as sea bass comes without sides, so do think of that if sea bass (which is this perfect piece of fish wrapped in potato skin with little tomato salsa) is your choice. Plates are not big, but our dinner was at 5pm, and we had desserts later in the evening. We do not eat a lot for dinner, and our child is 10, so for us it was enough food, but it might be not sufficient if you are really hungry. So for 3 adults I would go with 2 Prex Fixe and 1 A La Carte, or some combination of more plates.
Amazing seafood dishes! I think this is one of the most underrated restaurants in San Francisco.
The food is outstanding! The owner is very concerned for his Customers’ experience stopping by the table after dinner to say thank you and ask if everything was satisfactory. The patio area is darling, warm and inviting! We will be returning soon.
Third visit In 4 months! Waiter was efficient attentive and accomodating!
Lovely from start to finish.
Went there to celebrate a birthday. First time back since Covid. Everything was amazing. We had a great table, great waiter (Jim) and the food was outstanding!
Isa has always been our favorite restaurant. Now, due to the pandemic, prices have increased & quantity has decreased. Food quality & taste are still excellent, but Service has decreased due to inadequate number of staff. A 3 course dinner took 2 hrs. 1st course didn't come for one hour after being seated.
Superb Dining Experience!
The waiter was great but we had to wait for our first dish a long time while the other two guests already had it
I put average ambiance because you are under a tent but must be Covid related
Delicious!! Absolutely amazing food and service!
Birthday. Isa was AMAZING!! The food was scrumptious! The wait staff was awesome!
Excellent food as usual. Love this place.
Great food, patio was a good place to be, service was very nice
The food larger food hours took 2 hours to arrive! We sat without drinks and food for at least 30 minutes on sitting down and our guest (with a small child) and to pack up her food to go! Others with the same dishes were being served around us - we were one of the first tables to be seated for the evening and definitely the last served!
We ended up spending $150 for 2 with three drinks. This is perhaps what it's now going to cost post-pandemic to table service. Guests should know that the prix fixe (Sunday-Thurs) is now $40 (and not $34 as listed on OpenTable menu). The food is basic French-style and service is good, if a little speedy. Wine is minimum $15 a glass and you'll find cocktails around $17. It adds up quickly.
Service is friendly and it's a good neighborhood place. It's just sad that dining out with table service has become very pricey in San Francisco.
We were invited to remove our masks since the staff is all vaccinated, as are we.
One of the most fantastic dining experiences that I’ve had! The food was phenomenal and the service was top notch! We were visiting from Los Angeles to celebrate my daughter’s 16th birthday and the entire staff treated her like royalty.
LOVE Isa. Bar none one of my favorite restaurants in SF.
Family of 10: 7 adults, 2 kids, 1 baby. Every single pre-fixe dish was absolutely delicious. Made the kids spaghetti first as they were “starving”. Service was attentive and friendly. We did have to wait 20 minutes for our 7:45 reservation, so maybe they really were starving.
My sisters and I were in town for a short weekend and found this place by recommendation. Incredible service and a beautifully crafted menu! Would highly recommend the Truffle Risotto if you enjoy high impact umami flavors. Will definitely need to come back when I’m in town again.
Every dish was perfectly prepared. The service was attentive but not overly so. Couldn’t have asked for a better evening.
