My mother joined us who has severe Celiac Disease. The staff took care of her and she had the best gluten free meal out she’s ever had. Thank you for being so thoughtful for those with dietary restrictions.
We sat in the front of the restaurant and good easily carry on a conversation, which we important to us, The $1 happy hour oysters were excellent. Three of us shared two openers and two entrees and one dessert, which was more than enough food. The scallops and the flourless chocolate cake were the hits.
The food was yummy!!!
Our server (Dean) was fabulous!!!
First time eating at Isa and loved it. Our waiter, who was fantastic, was on top of everything making sure that we enjoyed everything, in fact, when I wanted to order a glass of wine and wasn't familiar with the wines in the menu, he recommended a cabernet based on my taste and he was spot on with the recommendation, I truly liked it a lot. They also recommend to order family style and it was great as we got to taste a variety of what they offer. Every dish was delicious and on time, no lagging time in between each dish, just perfect! This is a great place to have dinner with friends or even make it a romantic night. Thank u Isa for not disappointing!
We went to Isa for our anniversary - and it was incredible! The ambiance, food, and service were amazing. We will be back!
This has been my neighborhood go to for a long time. It never disappoints and everything is always wonderful. My out of town visitors thought it was great and want to go back again. Thank you.
I generally don't like the "small plate" thing. At Isa, it works. We had a party of 7 and found that ordering 4 appetizers and 7 mains was quite enough. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the food. The Halibut was nicely prepared. The flank steak is also very nicely presented and tasted great. I had not had sweet breads in several years and deeply regret that--they were great.
Loved all of our dishes and the service was outstanding
The octopus appetizer is a must - well cooked with interesting flavors and complimentary sauce. Alaskan halibut was a bit overcooked, as was paella although both tasted good, but not great. I would skip the dessert as it was nothing special.
Amazing experience !!! Very friendly staff and really nice food. Loved $1 oysters at happy hour
Was looking for a cute place to get dinner with a friend and catch up. We were attentively looked after, the food and drinks were great and it was easy to hear each other without needing to shout at each other over our meals. Highly recommend!
good menu, great food, good service, and a pleasant environment.
Food was okay, not the same quality as the original owners.
Hi Tess, It was a pleasure having you as ISA's guest. The food is prepared by the same chef and kitchen staff for over 15 years. I look forward to having you our guest in the near future and I will make sure you get the same experience you are used to in the initial years of Isa. Thanks, Isa Team
While the Happy Hour sign on the window is quite off-putting, makes you think the place is kind of sports barish, the back covered patio is awesome and the food was quite good. Our server, Jonathan, was welcoming and very professional. We tried so many things I can't remember all of it but the yellow fin tuna appetizer was delicious. The arugula salad light and fresh. The grilled calamari was recommended by one of party who had eaten here before. It was exceptional. The seared scallops were so yummy as was the paella. I didn't taste it but others in our party loved the duck breast. The side of Brussels sprouts were terrific. All of this with really good and decently priced wine. I am not much of a Chardonnay drinker but the Wonderwall Chardonnay (2017) was really good if you like a buttery Chardonnay. We also had a delicious Pinot which I can't remember for around $50/bottle. I have to say the evening exceeded my expectations. I was looking forward to trying their Prix Fix menu, but be warned, that is not available on Saturday nights.
Hello, I am pleased that we were able to make your evening a wonderful experience and it is a pleasure you choose Isa. We look forward to having you our guest again in the near future. I will pass your positive comments about Jonathan. He is an asset, serving at Isa for over 19 years. Regards, Sam

We celebrated our 35th wedding anniversary at Isa. The owner introduced himself and shared some thoughtful conversation with us. The food was perfect. Every bite was great. We chose the right place to celebrate!

Came across this place through Yelp and decided to try it out. The food, service and ambiance are amazing! This is my new favorite restaurant. Une valeur sûre !

Food was good but the front dining area became very noisy mid way through our meal.
Hello Esther, Thanks for linking the food and taking the time to write a review. Next time I will seat you in a quieter place (Please make a comment when making reservation to seat you at the table of your choice) We look forward to having you our guest again in the near future. Regards, Sam
as always, an excellent dining experience! had an array of salads (butter lettuce, arugula, and crab), took advantage of the oyster special (which came with a nice, spicy mignonette-type sauce), and perfectly cooked entrees: the flat iron steak and duck breast. paired with happy hour wine, you really can’t go wrong here. we keep coming back because the value is great, the food is superb and the owners are sweethearts, always making a point to check in and thank us for returning.
It's really a great restaurant. there has more choices for dinning. I think if you are going to try it. I will be glad.
Always a great experience to eat here. Friendly staff, fantastic food, & great service!! Never disappointed dining here!!!
Excelente decisión probar Isa. Decidimos compartir y probamos excelentes platos lamb ribs, pescado, pato, scallops etc. Con fantástico servicio
There were four of us and we all had the prefixe menu ($35 per person) and three of us shared the dishes, which is recommended. We ordered the baked goat cheese, the mussels, the grilled calamari, and the arugula salad as our starters. Each starter was delicious, especially the goat cheese and the mussels and they brought plenty of bread to soak up the sauce from the mussels. For our entrees, two of us ordered the chicken and two ordered the flat iron steak. One person didn't want to share his chicken and the other person ate mostly her steak, so two of us shared the other chicken dish and the steak. I usually don't order chicken when I dine out, but this chicken is so tasty that it's something that should definitely be one of the dishes ordered! The chicken is moist with a crispy skin and is seasoned really well. It came with mashed potatoes that were creamy and smooth. The steak came with green beans and roasted potatoes; it too was tender and delicious. We all had the semifreddo for dessert, but I think the grapefruit granite or creme brulee would have been a better choice for me; the semifreddo was a bit too sweet for my taste. It would have been nice to have more variety on our table (i.e. each person order a different dish), but what we had was delicious! Service was good and friendly, but my water glass didn't get filled as quickly as I'd wanted and it was hard to get the wait person's attention. Still, great place to dine!
We tried Isa for the first time on a Tuesday evening. The service we received was excellent and all staff members were extremely pleasant. I had the lobster broth soup which was AMAZING! The scallops were delicious and prepared perfectly. I'm looking forward to going back.
I live blocks from this place and have been by it many times
Open Table lured me there
They are not trustworthy
I really wanted the happy hour oysters promised in my reservation but the Chinese (by his account) told me I couldn’t have it because it’s only for people at the bar
It went downhill from there
He brought me the wrong wine
The meal took a long time to come out and was nothing special
This is an old, small, dark restaurant
Great culinary experience, never fails !!!
Isa’s has fast become our favorite. Food is delicious, the staff welcoming and friendly.
Great date spot. Very cozy with covered patio in back. Food was amazing - had the oysters, paella, and heirloom tomatoes. Wouldn't go here with a group, but that isn't what this place is about
The food and presentation were excellent at Isa. The only reason I gave them one fewer star is because their website shows that they have cocktails, and in fact, they have a very limited selection and not a full bar. I recommended to our waiter that they make this clearer.
Again, the food was excellent.
We love Isa,
Thanks, Lana, we love you as our loyal guest aswell. Thanks for the review and we appreciate iT!! Looking forward to having the honor of serving you again in the near future. Regards, Isa Team
the service was pleasant but moreover our waiter was very informative about the menu without us needing to ask specific questions. And the fish itself was wonderful. Delicate, complex flavors and not heavy handed at all. Note the calamari is not breaded or deep fried but maintains all the same flavor that you typically expect. just without the weight of the deep fried version we all know and love ;)
Hello AlexiaD, It was an honor to have you as our Guest. Thanks for taking the time to review your recent experience. Yes, we are proud to say none of our food is fried & everything is made DAILY from Scratch to maintain the quality for the last 20 years. A lot has been changed over the years in the restaurant industry to cut corners to save, but we proudly maintain the same quality set 20 years ago. A valued guest like you is the testament to that, Thanks!! Regards, Isa Team
unreal service. the food was a+. the ambiance was incredible. cant wait to go back.
Hello JoshuaO, It always an honor to have you as our guest. Thanks for the review and we look forward to having the pleasure of serving you again in the near future. Regards, Isa Team
Hands down, this is the best restaurant we have gone to in San Francisco! We ordered the potato wrapped sea bass and the rack of lambs, and everything was perfectly cooked and tasted amazing. I would highly recommend going here. The staff was phenomenal, and if you have a peanut allergy, everything is safe and you can even eat the vanilla gelato!
I would recommend the ISA for its food which was delicious.
However, the service when we arrived was very slow. We had a reservation but did not want to sit squeezed into the window seat side by side as not conducive to talking. We then had quite a wait for another table to be set up. The waiter was slow and did not show any warmth.
It was explained that they recommend sharing dishes. We said we wanted to share the starter, a delicious crab salad, but we’re having separate mains, not least because I am lactose intolerant. However my main arrived and I finished it, before my husband’s.
Dessert was limited to fruit salad for me. Fortunately by suggest the addition of a liqueur and honey to it, it became more enjoyable.
This could so easily have scored outstanding. If you are reserving for two, state your seat preferences. Make it clearer if you want two plates to arrive together. Hopefully the waiter will be in a warmer mood
Because we are frequent customers, we are always treated with the best of service & friendliness!!! Food is fantastic & well-prepared. I believe everyone is treated well!!
We've been going there for years and love it! Had the sea bass and the halibut, both wonderful.

Dean, the server, provides a classic San Francisco experience. Owners, Sam and his wife, are always charming and hospitable. Food and Robert’s wine list are always dependable and delicious.
Damien, It's always a pleasure to have you as our guest at Isa. I am grateful for the kind words, and enjoying our food and service. Your loyalty of so many years to Isa is very much appreciated! Thanks. Regards, Sam.
Best neighborhood bistro! Great food, great staff.
Every dish that all four of us ordered was fantastic! Risotto was the best since our last trip to Italy. Halibut was great. Prince Edward Island mussels were phenomenal. Grilled calamari on the starter list was also terrific. We would come back here anytime. This is a foodie’s paradise!
Love this place!
