Isa never fails to prepare and present a perfect meal. The service is friendly and efficient. The menu is small, but what is offered is perfect every time and the offerings reflect the changing seasons. They have managed to survive the dining limitations of the Covid pandemic and still offer a safe and pleasant dining experience. The food, decor and ambience is reminiscent of a a great restaurant in the Village (NYC). Absolutely wonderful!
Food was excellent. Service was great. Will definitely go back.
Isa is one of the best restaurants in the city. Their take-out food during the pandemic has been superb and it is a delight to be able to dine there again. The halibut was perfect. The rabbit, as always, was transcendent and the trout was wondrous. In addition to the joys of the meal, everyone who works at Isa is friendly and competent. Plus, there is parking.
I love everything here. I highly recommend the margaritas and octopus appetizer.
Wonderful cuisine- tasty, creative, well presented and proportioned. Inviting atmosphere, simple and tasteful. Knowledgeable and thoughtful staff. Definitely now on our list of faves!
Remains one of our top favorites: great dishes, attentive service and neighborhood vibe.
Six years since its launch, Isa Bistro remains a leading light in the Portland, Maine, dining scene. Watch for consistently excellent food straddling Italian, Mexican and contemporary American cuisines and supported by smart, attentive service in a timelessly stylish room.
A high quality casual bistro. Food, service and ambience always excellent. Just a very comfortable place to dine.
The food was amazing, and the plate sizes were great (not too much, not to little). The servers were helpful and friendly, and they've gone to great lengths to make the experience safe / socially distant.
Our best meal in Portland after visiting 2 other highly rated restaurants. Isa is truly a craft cooking experience and the details are in the flavor, quality of ingredients and excellent service. A little off the beaten track of the waterfront touristy restaurants, well worth the short drive to visit. One of our group was vegetarian, and they perfectly adjusted some of their menu items to accommodate us. Make this your first place to try if visiting Portland. Nothing else will stand up in quality.
Isa is a Portland fav. for us. They always provide a well-crafted entree with fresh flavors. Easy atomosphere, simple, and a perfect place to relax and enjoy a bottle of wine. Their Mascarpone cheesecake is fantastic.
I love this restaurant. Quiet and small. Great ambiance, deliciously light food. Menu was limited (recently re-opened for seated indoor dining) but as suspected, our party of four found every dish a treat.
The food at Isa was simply delicious! I loved the duck mousse starter. The servers were attentive, pleasant, and professional. The outdoor area is lovely!
One of the most beautiful places I have been in Portland for dinner with a menu to match. This place is a don’t miss. While the location is a little farther from Old Port, it has some of the best food I’ve had in Portland. The cocktails were delicious and make sure you try a piece of their coconut pie!
We dined on the newly opened patio which was truly a wonderful experience. Our servers worked as a team and were very attentive to timing of the courses, special requests, and checking in with us. If the lobster tacos are on the menu as an appetizer, make sure to order them! I eat lobster all summer long, straight from the traps of my brother, and have high standards for its preparation. This taco exceeded all expectations. Every aspect of our dinner was carefully thought-out and featured realistic portions so everything on the plate was a star in its own right. Truly a meal to remember!
I have been going to Isa since they opened and have never had a bad meal. My husband and I have gone as a couple, then together with our daughter and now together with daughter and son (3 years and 3 months respectively). The owners have always been very attentive as well as their servers. It is always great to visit with them and enjoy their food.
