I eat a lot so I just wish they included pasta with the chicken parm... definitely not enough chicken for the price, better off with the burger, which was also very good! (That came with fries)
Great drinks! The food was okay, but felt like a lot of $ for what you got. The best dishes we got were the tuna tartare, and the lamb ragu. The burrata, tilefish, and cauliflower pizza were all fine but not very flavorful
We should have checked on the noise level before we went! It was horrible. We actually like to have a conversation with our friends -- impossible! Will never go again and unless you are interested in a place to drink and make noise, don't go to this place.
Had a nice meal with good drinks at Irvington. A Dirty Martini with black pepper goat cheese stuffed olives was amazing! Our food was good tho pasta wasn’t as hot as we would have liked. Good service from a rotating team who somehow made it flow smoothly. Would return for tuna tacos. Great location.
Always amazing! Always!
Horrible service and mediocre food
Great service. Delicious burger. A little noisy but where isn’t this time of year?
Food was served cold and service was almost non-existent.
Bar service was non-existent on a Friday night during the holiday season. Table service was marginally better. STILL VERY SLOW. So slow they comped our desserts. Food was good. Shame the service will keep me from returning any time soon.
Great ambiance, nice food but a bit pricy for size. This is the reason for I put 4 stars for value, but otherwise, all other points were great. Service was good, communicative and respectful. We also hit the bar in the restaurant and service staff prepared nice seats at the bar.
We chose Irvington for Thanksgiving, making our reservation for 4:00pm for a party of 3 well in advance. We arrived early to be greeted by two inept hostesses & told we were to be seated at the “farmer’s table.” We realized this was a communal table in an ice-cold corner by the emergency exit and a view of the dishwashers & napkin folders. We immediately said this was unacceptable. The hostess was totally confused that we were not going to sit there, off she went to eventually return to seat us in a booth with strict instructions she was doing us a favor to allow us to sit there but we would have to vacate our table no later than 5:30. As for the food, appetizers were delicious & hot. The salad to share was brought w/ our main course. We all had the turkey dinner, food was good but lukewarm. Obviously the food had been plated well in advance. Dessert while ordered is not their strong suit. As for service, our server barely competent, never checking back & if there was an overall manager, never saw he/she. Under the circumstances, It would have been a nice customer service gesture to apologize for the seating mishap & offer to buy us a drink for agreeing to eat & run. When we left at 5:30, there was no group waiting for the table.
I was there for brunch and had the mushroom omelette. It was flat, not overly filled, and came with about 1/4 cup of greens on the side. Two of us then had to order a croissant as an extra. For the price, I think they could have been a bit more generous with that item. Add potatoes or toast or even both!
We had a nice time at Irvington. The food was very good (we chose from the brunch menu). The space was lovely, and on our visit fairly quiet. The service was good when it got going but at the start it was incredibly slow....starting with the hostess who had no idea we were coming despite our opentable reservation.
The service was terrible, and the food was tasty but overpriced.
We had a great time at this fun Brunch Place near our hotel. There was something on the menu for everyone and it was a relaxed comfortable scene. Our waitress Valerie was just awesome. I would go back again for another meal besides brunch.
I have been to Irvington a few times now - the food is very good and consistent. I do think it's a little over-priced, and the service was a little slow - but overall I like this spot and I will be back again.
Upscale atmosphere. Roomy seating. Food was adequate but small portions. Fried artichokes and skirt were tasty. Farro bowl ok but nothing special.
The food was delicious. The waiters could have been a bit more attentive.
Took a friend for a surprise party. They managed the surprise perfectly, seating the two of us at a large table, but taking away all the other place settings
until friends started joining us, one by one. It was a delicious and delightful evening. Both the food and the service made it so.
I always recommend Irvington because it's one of my favorite restaurants in the city. I didn't have a great experience before this time but they really made up for it with this one, which was nice. Jim, the new Sous Chef, even walked over to say hello and ask how everything was.
Food was good. Drinks expensive for what they were. Wait staff overly eager to move us along. We were not overstaying our welcome so it was a bit irritating.
Over $150 for brunch for 4 with no alcohol for rather stingy portions.
That is the headline. The food was good, even a bit better than good, but I felt ripped off. No bread with the omelette ... add $3.50 for one slice of (very good) multi-grain bread. $18 or $19 for an omelette ... it was tasty but that's excessive, especially for what was, at best, a modest portion of food. The two pasta dishes at the table were also tasty but barely larger than appetizer portions.
Nice setting. Nice staff. But not again.
Way overpriced - I pride myself on having been to most restaurants in NYC (high end to low end), and this was hands-down the least worthwhile. We left starving and broke, having ordered a starter and two mains.
It's so sweet for them to make me birthday brownie with ice cream.
I had lunch with a colleague and had a great time. The food was amazing as always. It is also close to my office that there is no travel time needed.
The only reason I lowered my review is because I was FREEZING in there and the hamachi crude was also tiny for the amount of money it costed. Otherwise everything else was great.
Restaurant was very loud
I come to Irvington every so often because I enjoy the food and ambience. I can think of one other time where I didn’t have a good experience. This was the second and mostly because of the lack of service. After we ordered, we didn’t see our waiter again and it took us ages to flag anyone down whenever we needed something. It wasn’t busy when we arrived, only got busy about an hour in, so I’m not sure what the delays were about.

Nice restaurant, beautiful bar.
Food was very good with nice selection.
Always pleasant, staff courteous, food usually tasty. Haven’t felt disappointed on any visit.
The Irvington is a "find" in Union Square. It's moderately price and the food is dependably good as is the service. Happily, the noise level is mainly under control - though the bar can sometimes get loud, so ask for a seat further away if you want to have a quiet conversation.
Went here for brunch with the hubby. Loved the food and the decor. But the hostess was a little rude. I had made a reservation just half an hour earlier but she greeted us making a face and saying something like: "It won't show up on my system. Best I can do for you is get you a high top."
Recognizing that my friend and I were in a rut, meeting at our same favorite restaurant in the Union Square area for a couple of years, we branched out and lunched at Irvington for the first time. We loved it! We found it difficult to choose among the mouth-watering dishes described on the menu--there were at least four that I felt I MUST try. After biting the bullet and picking one, I found it exceptionally well prepared and delicious. Our waiter was wonderfully attentive, giving us the most relevant information about each dish, thereby helping us decide. We will certainly go back.
Rarely have I encountered a front of the house manager so accommodating as I did with Edwin at Irvington last night. I had a few issues with seating as one of my guests had a hearing issue. Edwin checked in several times and changed our table realizing that a very loud party had been seated next to us. Our waitress Abigail was equally cordial and accommodating. Both of them made sure we had what we needed and everything was delivered with kind words and in a relaxed manner. Kudos to these two fine staff members at Irvington. Any restaurant would be lucky to have them.
Beautiful interior and very hip. Food is great and imaginative. Had a great experience.
Food, drinks, service - everything was absolutely amazing! Highly recommend!!
I returned to the Irvington Restaurant because of the excellent quality of the food, service and ambience. I will return again and recommend it highly to others.
