The first half hour of our experience was shaky at best. No lighting on patio and did not get water nor napkins for 20 min. We had a reservation so our table should have been ready. Someone finally discovered light switch and ambience dramatically improved. Food and cocktails were outstanding and service improved for a great evening.

Quail appetizer was served raw (seared on outside, completely raw upon cutting into) and while they corrected the situation (it took over 20minutes) there was no apology from management OR compensation on final bill. Additionally, a salad came with all its toppings & dressing missing, and the chicken & dumplings were beyond DRY. Our server was incredibly slow (in spite of half empty restaurant and numerous staff) and she pretended there were no issues with food, even though three items had to be returned to kitchen. Atmosphere was nice, albeit a little tired. Overall, a disappointment.

Service was terrible and probably will never go back. Made us stand in the walkway while they slowly cleaned the table. Guy would take some dishes and then disappear. Did this three times. Then had to ask for someone to wait on us after waiting 10+ minutes. Then asked for water refills and had to ask repeatedly. Food came fairly quickly but immediately asked for them to bring the bill. Still took awhile before that came. We have been here several times and it has always been slow but this was the worst and we will not be back.

Excellent dining experience today! Very inviting and comfortable restaurant. We ate outside on the patio and it was perfect. We had excellent service and the food was delicious as always. This is the best best for brunch!

The pork chop and Brussels sprouts were amazing. The lemon drop martini was good too. My server Abraham was so nice and explained items on the menu to me and gave great suggestions as well.

Resv at 7:30. We were seated by 7:20, not the “welcome” feeling from the host. By the time we were greeted, several minutes later after being seated, we ordered an appetizer at our first opportunity. Our appetizer didn’t arrive until 8:10. Overall dinning experience, while the server was polite, the timing of service was a bit ridiculous. Noted in our reservation our special occasion and not a mention of it. However a less than 5min interaction with the bartender after asking him a question regarding our drinks was what we expected from this dinning experience and didn’t receive, he was very pleasant and helpful. Very accommodating. It had the price of a 5 star establishment, definitely not the experience.

$30 martini!!! The most expensive I have ever had, even in NYC, Paris, Tokyo, SFO, and dozens of Birmingham restaurants . The reason given: "all martinis require 2 shots". This for a medium-size, decent but not great, basic gin dry martini. My recommendation: If you don't want your cocktail to be more expensive than your entre, choose one of the 5-6 listed "craft cocktails" on the menu (no martinis of any kind included) or order a beer and nurse it--or go elsewhere. A sad commentary for a place that has "cocktails" in its name.

Everything was good. We went early, 5:30 pm, so it wasn't crowded. Service was great, and the food was good-steak was slightly over-cooked but still delicious. Peach dessert was amazing.

First time dining there. We were looking forward to it! We were there for 3 hrs. Service was so poor. But she was sweet. It took an hour to get drinks. Our server neglected to put in our order. I had to ask a couple of times if she would check on our drinks. I had a view of the bar and could see other people come in, order their drink and finish them. We never received ours, so I know it wasn’t a bar service issue. So for the first hour we had a biscuit and water. Yes, bread and water. And empty water glasses too. No refills. The red fish was delish. The broccolini was uneatable as the chief is no stranger to salt and that’s all you could taste. Rice is rice so that easy. But it was formed from what looked like a plastic take out bowl and then dumped in the plate to look like a sandcastle. Weird and poor presentation. The lemon posset was tasteless but the chocolate dessert was tasty. I gave 2 stars because the ambiance and the fish. At the price of the food, I would expect at least a full glass of water or an extra price of bread. So, with so many great places to eat in Birmingham, I highly doubt I’ll take a chance on it again.

The food didn't have a lot of taste. The cioppino dish was not a the real one, just a seafood dish without very much flavor. Except the food, the restaurant is nice and the service was very friendly.

Experience started out promising with a nice hanger bacon which was flavorful and fun execution and some champagne. Waiter was quick. Unfortunately, this is where the promise ended. While the decor and ambiance was nice, the staff did not seem to know what was being served or anything past what the menu said. The pork chop was tasty, but the filet was burnt to a crisp on the outside and over cooked on the inside. The expectation was set high based on the prices, but the experience fell flat

We stayed at Valley Homewood Hotel as part of our anniversary trip to Birmingham where my wife and I met. We decided to see what the hotel restaurant was like and were incredibly pleasantly surprised. A patio area with great ambiance, thoughtful waiter and Maitrd’e, and really exceptional food. An all-around great experience.

My experience was very disappointing. It was my husband’s birthday and we wanted to try out a new place. We had made reservations. No one was at the reception desk to greet us, and after waiting several minutes, we finally walked through the restaurant and found two waitresses just standing around and asked them if they would seat us. One did and brought us a menu, and then, after waiting several more minutes (in a completely empty restaurant), no one appeared to bring us water or takeout order. So we got up and left.

Food tasted good, but none of the eggs were poached (all hard) and it was cold getting to the table. Service was EXTREMELY slow and forgetful, including asking for silverware multiple times and splitting checks incorrectly.

The food was good, but we waited a very long time for wine glasses to pour the wine that was delivered to the table. They had to hunt down glasses to wash?!?!? The food was very good - but expensive for what you got! The server worked her tail off, and had a lot of tables to serve. She was pleasant and as accommodating as she could be considering the lack of support from the back!
