We dined with friends from out of town. Perfect dinner and experience. We had drinks on the outside patio by the fire. Our waiter was attentive and food was delicious. Drinks were on point! They we so impressed with the restaurant and Birmingham! We may get another transplant couple moving here next year. Support local restaurants. So much to be proud of here ;)

We had a party of eight and the kitchen was very inept about getting the food out as a group. Some of the food never came out and it had to be canceled from the bill. Same can be said for orders from the bar. The server did not pay very much attention to us until another table was gone. At which time she said we now had her undivided attention. The NCAA tournament was on and there was a private room available that had a TV in it. We asked if we could use it. We were told no because another party was coming in shortly to use that space. That party never showed up. And they even closed the door to that room so we couldn’t see the TV. Poor all around.

We went for our anniversary and it was the worst decision ever. The only person who was professional was the attendant who seated us. The waitress was very slow it took her 15 minutes to bring us our drink order. We had to flag her down to get our food ordered. My husband ordered the pork chop and it was tough. He left half of it on the plate. I finally received my appetizer it was barely warm ( the quail appetizer) not worth the price. The restaurant is lovely, the food ok but the service SUCKED.

When we first sat down, no one came to our table for almost 20 minutes. Then when someone did finally come, they didn’t know the menu or the prices for what I would think was a common drink on a Sunday for brunch— a mimosa. The waiter originally said $6/7 dollars, and then came back and said actually they are $12. Food was excellent though. Would definitely go back, just not to expect great service.

Had an 8pm reservation, arrived at 7:45, did not get seated until 8:45. Kept being told 10 mins until ready to be seated. Could’ve at least been given a free appetizer while we waited or a discount later, but nothing. Our waitress was excellent so I didn’t take it out on her and tipped appropriately.

The food was really good. I really enjoyed my filet Mignon with mashed potatoes. However, I had a reservation for 7:45 but the hostess told us she couldn’t seat us because there wasn’t any tables available. I thought if you make a reservation at a restaurant; the restaurant is entitled to have a table reserved by the time you get there. Other than that, I really enjoyed myself.

Everything was excellent except they really don’t take reservations. If you have one (and we did, for 7pm) it means you are put at the head of the wait list. They take walk-Ins and reservations don’t seam to have much weight! Won’t be going back on a busy weekend!

Had a wonderful experience celebrating my sister’s birthday. The salads were fresh and delicious and the selection of mimosas was impressive. Our server Kala was outstanding! Unfortunately, the Open table description of hours and specifically brunch is inaccurate. They do not serve brunch on Friday. Breakfast concludes at 10:30a and lunch starts at 11a. I booked a 10:45a seating looking for the brunch menu so we were disappointed because we chose the location for this occasion. We had to wait 15 minute for lunch service yet it was worth the wait. We will be back for brunch on a weekend, the menu looks amazing!

The service was exceptional.. our charming and knowledgeable waitress treated us as if we were the only ones there. The food was excellent… there were four of us, we all ordered something different, and we all were very happy with our selections. We shared ‘the hanger’ and we highly recommend that! The craft cocktails were great - one of the best old fashioned we’ve had in a long time. We’re visiting Birmingham but when we return we will be sure to stop by again.

Excellent service -Megan was a fantastic server. Drinks were great. The smoked old fashioned was really good. But the bartender kept forgetting the cherry in the drink (the cocktail drinks specifically indicated a cherry was part of the old fashioned). The appetizer was good. The entrees were excellent - red snapper and coriander tuna. We really enjoyed our first time to Ironwood Kitchen & Cocktails. We plan to return.

Firstly, it's great to have a full-service restaurant in Homewood - and with valet parking, getting in and out is stress-free. The Valley Hotel lobby and entrance to Ironwood is welcoming and gives you a feeling of quality. Table service in the restaurant was excellent - attentive and helpful. The menu is interesting but I do feel it needs a refresh as it still has basically the same choices as before Covid-Times. Finally, and my reason for less than five stars, the kitchen was rather heavy-handed on the salt. I'll know to ask them to go lighter next time.

I had an excellent experience at Ironwood. The cocktails were perfect. The brown sugar and chipotle bacon was amazing and the filet that t had as an entree was perfectly cooked and delicious. I recommend that if you’re in the Homewood are to give Ironwood a try.

Our food was good but the service was very awkward and set the tone for a rather uncomfortable date. We had anticipated a much more romantic setting. We won’t return until it’s warmer outside to sit, it seems to be a nicer setting outside instead of the corner back farmhouse-looking area we were placed in for our reservation.

We were seated in the little nook by the wine cellar for a table of 6 and it was the perfect spot for a wonderful dining experience. Conversation was easy, without noise, and Maddie took great care of us. The coriander-crusted tuna was delicious, cooked medium rare. Loved the Caesar salad and the Homewood Tini! We'll be back!

It would be nice if there was at least one vegetarian appetizer. We had to order a side as a starter: spicy brussel sprouts. They were sweet, charred and the perfect amount of spicy for me. Less sauce would be better, so I could taste the veg a little more:) Ordered the only vegetarian entree: eggplant cannelloni. The eggplant was thinly sliced, acting as the “roll”, instead of the filling. The texture was tough, making it less enjoyable and harder to eat. Concept is cool, but the eggplant should be the soft filling! Then maybe Zucchini or pasta as the roll, would work better. Also ordered the red snapper special. The risotto and the fish were wonderful. The crawfish that topped the dish smelled pretty bad though. I removed them from the plate and then everything else was great! I was impressed by the perfectly cooked risotto. The cocktails were pretty good. Would love to see more options on the craft cocktail menu! Dessert was what I expected! We ordered the one chocolate option and it tasted good. I wish it wasn’t in a Mason jar. Looks and feels cheap, especially when sitting on top of gorgeous local pottery! Our server was sweet and accommodating! All of the employees seemed very nice. The decor is very dark, calming and masculine. I can’t say we were impressed enough to go back though.

Food was delicious. Service was not on par with the price. My dinner companion’s meal was overbooked (ordered rare, got med-well). I received my salsas with his entree, followed by my entree two minutes later, then the appetizer 5 minutes later. Drinks were good but the waiter was not attentive and I’d have liked a second drink.

It’s not quite what it once was. I ordered the pork chop, which was extremely overcooked. The collard greens portions has really shrunk… almost comical. The side of brussels sprouts is well worth seven dollars but the side of mashed potatoes might be worth a dollar and they still charge seven dollars for that as well. On top of that, it was freezing in the building. Way too cold.

This is a beautiful establishment with well cooked creations and libations. I love the outdoor area with the fire especially. The only critique I have is that there should be music playing. Without the music it’s missing a very important element of the dining experience. Otherwise it all was very good.

The food was ok. We both ordered the catfish sandwich. It was dry and lacked flavor. The wait service was not the best. We were not provided with a cocktail menu. When the cocktails arrived, they were mid level at best. I expected more from Ironwood since the word “cocktails” is in the name. This was a birthday date. Even though I identified that through the open Table app - no one at the restaurant made mention of the special occasion and desserts were not offered (free or for purchase). The location of the restaurant is great. The decor is beautiful with cool views of Homewood. The best experience was using the restroom. I’m a sucker for clean and functional restrooms. Bottom line, Ironwood seems like a decent place to meet friends for a quick drink and an appetizer before heading somewhere else. There are many other delicious restaurant options in Birmingham AL and surrounding areas. Spend your money elsewhere.

We’ve been here before and enjoyed the service and food. This weekend, though, it took 15 minutes after we were seated to have a server stop by. She didn’t introduce herself, but took our drink and food orders. Other people dropped off our drinks and food. We didn’t see her again until I asked another server to find her so we could get and pay our check.

The food and concept here are great. Mixed drinks left room for improvement. Service was uncomfortably slow, and management presence was nearly non-existent in the dining room, which would be imperative when service is already slow. Service staff does not know how to carry trays with the whole table's order, clearly. Plates came out two at the time because that's all they knew how to do. This restaurant is a great concept and very beautiful. But management needs to step it up, have a sense of urgency, and needs to offer better training for staff. I would not eat here again.

This Restaurant was an excellent choice for a lovely Monday night date. The service was terrific, and the food was even better. One of my favorite parts was the desert. She had a chocolate delight, and I indulged in a key lime bar. I can't wait to come back and try them out again.

This was the first time visiting. And they exceeded my expectation. Upon arrival the Maitre' D had our name and time, and was prepared with a sense of urgency. Being a Holiday, we usually set the bar lower for the obvious reason that it is a Holiday. But, they far exceeded any other place that we have previously gone to for a Holiday meal. We will be returning, and look forward to trying other things on their menu. Everyone around us looked like they were equally cared for.
