Sorry to report that our experience turned out to be far below our expectations. Even though you have an "energetic" atmosphere, no one seems to be paying attention to the details. For instance, I know of no other restaurant who would even think about serving raw oysters on a warm stainless steel tray with NO ICE. I do not think the Board of Heath would approve of serving raw shellfish in any less than an ice cold environment. Soup was served cold and had to be sent back. I cannot tell you how many times we had to request the same thing over and over until our server finally got it. She was very pleasant but no where near as attentive as I am used to. Several items were confused beyond repair so we just dealt with it.
I was shocked because I have only heard wonderful things about your restaurant in the past. You also need management that is actually watching what is going on. We saw very little of that.
Food was good but we sat outside and did not see any wait staff for an extended period of time. Would have been 5 stars if we got better service.
The food, as always was wonderful! Our server JON was amazing!!!
My husband and I along with our parents stopped by after a long day at Longwood Gardens.
My husband loves their Baja Fish Tacos and I enjoy their pizza the most.
We all had a fantastic experience and the staff is so friendly, I would recommend Iron Hill to anyone looking for a great meal and great Beer.
First of all, you cannot beat Iron Hill's service, no matter where you go or how expensive the restaurant. Our friendly and efficient server, Ian, made sure every detail of our lunch was perfect. And the kitchen was so kind about special requests, and they are extremely careful and conscientious about special diets. Our generous and delicious salads were just as we like them. It's fun to look out at the river, you might see the Kalmar Nyckel tall ship float by! You can also bring your boat right up to the dock out front, tie up, and come in to eat! The children's menu is the best I have ever seen, with varied and healthy selections. If you leave Iron Hill hungry, it's not their fault! Generous and filling meals are abundant throughout the menu.
We waited several minutes before our server got our drink order. Our companions order a bottle of wine with two glasses and got two glasses of wine. Server brought bottle of wine once told of the error. My husband and I ordered appetizers but were served our meal and one appetizer showed up 10 minutes later. We had them box that up to take home and never got what I had ordered.
When I reserved the table, I said it was a birthday dinner. That was never acknowledged.
I am a huge fan of Iron Hill restaurants. My usual restaurant is Ardmore, but I have eaten at many of the locations. This by far was the noisiest and seemingly poorly managed. It didn’t feel as organized and clean as the other Iron Hill locations. The food seemed haphazardly plated and not well prepared. The quality of the food was far below what I expect from Iron Hill and what I’m used to from the Ardmore location.
This experience will in no way changes my opinion of Iron Hill as a restaurant group, but sadly I know I won't be going back to the Wilmington location anytime soon.
The service and food were very good. The time to the table was a little slow. Only real issue was it was Very noisy, it was hard to hear our waiter and the people at our table.
We dined outside on the patio. The music being played was very loud, in fact a distraction and made the experience unpleasant.
Had an incredibly wonderful server named Chi. Food was good, sweet potato fries were the best we ever had. Dined on the patio and the music through the speakers was not a good music choice and was too loud to hear one another speaking at our table. I could see louder music later at night after dinner is over and bar patrons are there. We did ask our server if he could have the music turned down and in a few minutes the music was turned off and it was an absolutely much better dining experience. All in our party really enjoyed our dining experience here
Food and beer were both very good as usual. Outdoor seating on a beautiful summer evening was great as well. Unfortunately the service was poor, which has not been my experience at Irin Hill in the past.
The Sante Fe turkey burger was one of the best turkey burgers I’ve ever had. Delicious!
I enjoy this restuarant a lot-great food and excellent beer. However, when I made the reservation I specifically requested regular NOT high top seating. We were seated in a high top in the bar area. It was just way too noisy for any kind of conversation.
I've only ever had the appetizers, and was pleasantly surprised at the flavors of my Drunk Monk burger. I will definitely be going back!
Mediterranean wrap was delicious. Great martinis.
Love Iron Hill - the food, the service, the menu choices (although they have reduced the choices in the last while), easy location to get to, however: I do wish it were not soooooo loud. The decor does not soften the noise, it is very difficult in the bar areas to have a conversation without shouting at friends or having them repeat because you can’t hear them. It would be nice to have a secluded section for quiet conversation without all the bar scene hubbub. Perhaps, some sound buffers in place so that noise doesn’t bounce off the walls.
1st time to Wilmington Iron Hill. King of Hill members based in Lancaster (love Lancaster, Phoenixville, and Huntingdon Valley!). Waiting for our party to arrive and went upstairs to the bar area. Sat down and waited and then woman came over to us and said this was a self service area. No warm welcome, etc. Felt embarrassed and unwelcome so headed back downstairs to the bar area. Nice server. The other woman from upstairs came down to talk to us. Still not what we experienced at other Iron Hills. Chris was visiting from Arizona and we were celebrating her 70th birthday (which was listed in the reservation online but no acknowledgement.) We were visiting from Lancaster, PA. The other family members were from Delaware. We hadn't seen them for awhile. Once the rest of the party arrived we went into the dining room. EXCELLENT and patient server. (matthew) Very tight area in the dining room and not great for a party of six. Overall, very disappointed.
Iron Hill for my birthday, perfect! Food was great, drinks were great, service was great, no one embarrassed me. Also, they were really good with my wife who has many food allergies, and also catered to our vegan guest. Nice job again Iron Hill!
We were very disappointed in the service, food quality and overall experience. As King of the Hill members, we frequent this establishment for both personal and business dinners. It has gone down hill over time, but tonight was really the last straw.
Our waiter Kevin mumbled when he spoke, had no enthusiasm whatsoever and rarely visited our table. His other tables were equally irritated with his lack of urgency and lack of recognition that it is his job to wait on the tables.
Our food was also disappointing with two over cooked burgers (a frequent occurrence no matter how you order it) and a fish and chips that was over greasy and over breaded (we have ordered this in the past without issue).
Unfortunately, I would not recommend going here until the restaurant addresses their current issues with staff and food quality.
Service was terrible. Very slow. 3 entree's came out.. and the last 3 came out 10 minutes later.
I brought family from out of state to eat here and meet with friends! Great food and great ale! We all had a wonderful time and our server was awesome!
good food like always. service was subpar. not very friendly or engaging, and if he is going to keep Working on the patio he should wear shorts, because seeing him wipe is forehead on his uniform shirt consistently during the meal was unappealing
Great food great service couldn’t ask for anything better
Nice meal sitting out on the patio overlooking the Christina River on a beautiful summer evening.
Stopped in for Happy Hour on the back patio. The appetizers and Beer Flights were good.
I always make a reservation just in case the restaurant is packed. We had a waiter named Kevin he was good, but he kept on disappearing to the kitchen. Kevin was not attentive . He didn't remove our plates from the table, the assistant manager (Chris). Chris replenished our drinks. Again, the place was not busy at all. But I always enjoyed myself.
We had a beautiful evening to enjoy the upstars deck. All was great, from the food and the service.
Made a reservation, still had to wait when arriving at restaurant on time. Asked to be seated outside, and were seated inside when our table was ready. Staff would not move us, claiming there were 12 other parties on the list for outside seating. Inside table was incredibly noisy and could not understand the server. Eventually a manager moved us outside where there were plenty of tables - we never saw the other 12 parties that were supposedly on the list. Overall the staff seemed quite disorganized. Beer was great, food was just ok. It is a nice view outside on the patio.
Enjoyable dining with family and friends. Great micro brews on tap.
Nice meal. Excellent beer.
The food was really excellent. They accommodated some special requests and the beer was top notch!
Been to Iron Hill many times and it’s a good place to go when you’re looking for a decent meal. We were bowled over by the bad fish smell when we walked in the door and almost left. It was later than we usually go but there had to be something they can do about the stench.
Host wasn't so pleasant but the food was perfect today and the server was fantastic.
The tuna and voodoo shrimp were amazing. The guacamole was delicious. Great cocktails as well. The atmosphere out on the upstairs deck was nice and serene. Thanks for great service Brian.
Once again great food at Iron Hill -- unfortunately the service slipped a bit on this visit -- generally not a problem though, so will be back again very soon!
We’ve been to a few of these and to this location before. However, this time it was a slower newer server. It took a half an hour just to get our drinks. We had to finally go and notify a manager about the wait time. Sunday’s are busy times, and new servers should not get such large tables to serve.
Had candles on the tables with happy anniversary signs , great service , great food
Food was good but the service was rushed and infrequent. Non Attentive. I would still go back for the food.
My guest and I had a great time. I live in New Castle, and have always know about this restaurant, but never had the time to go....it was well worth the wait. The food, beer, drinks, service, and the atmosphere was excellent. We will definitely be frequenting this establishment more often. Thank you.
