We were just passing through town and chose this place to eat. They are currently renovating and were outstanding.
Ironhill is very consistent and good. I was a lite surprised to learn when we arrived that they were doing construction and this limited the seating.
Had to wait 40 minutes after we arrived for our reservation time. They're doing construction so part of the restaurant was not open when we were dining, but for an 8:00pm reservation, I wouldn't expect to have to wait so long. It also seemed like they were short-staffed, as our waiter was running around the whole night.
I go to Iron Hill frequently. Great beer, good food. Kind of loud but a fun setting.
Food & service were good. Noise level “out of control!”
Not the place to be until the renovations are completed. Only the upstairs were open. It was packed, noisy and the service was quite poor.
Having said that, I still recommend the place. Just wait another few weeks before going!
Alexandria did an awesome job as our server.
Restaurant undergoing renovations however still a great atmosphere. Food was good and service was good.
Food was very good at reasonable prices. We had outside seating on a great weather night without a wait.
Met my daughter in law
It was a birthday dinner for my husband with our family, 8 in all. Our server was obviously overwhelmed with having 3 fairly large tables. She was capable of getting the children’s meals out first but lacked with attending to the table. We were seated in the middle of the dining room where it got very loud through out the dinner. It would have been more comfortable and perhaps less noise in a booth, or upstairs in the more private dining. The food for the adults came out slow and we had to leave due to the timing (around 2 hours) before we could cut the cake. We will not be back as a family again. It’s fine for a casual dinner or happy hour. Food was decent.
I plan on returning the next time I'm in Wilmington. The food was excellent. The selection of brews was also outstanding. The Red Lager was satisfying. We tried the curried carrot soup and were very pleased. The crab cakes turned out to be as advertised. Very happy with the choice. We had the apple crisp and were not disappointed.
Chicken terriaki was awesome! Salmon was under cooked twice, even after it was originally requested to be well done.
Very noisy dining area and tables placed quite close together. Similar to a dining hall.
Waitress was awesome! Sorry, I dont remember her name.
Despite the reservation, our table wasn’t ready until ten minutes passed. They wedged our party of five into a booth, despite tables being unoccupied. Food fine, and decent value otherwise.
The food was not what it used to be at Iron Hill. Service was average.
Our waiter was great but the new menu items were subpar. Disappointing because we used to really like the food. The Etouffee looked like a frozen food lean cuisine entree :(
The staff was great, food spot on, beer so good!
Iron Hill brewery on the riverfront has decent food, and we were able to make a reservation on Saint Patrick’s day without any problem. The only negatives are that the sandwiches are overpriced (based on my experience at many similar restaurants in the area), and the noise level in the big open area on main level was annoying. If we needed to have good conversation amongst ourselves while enjoying lunch with friends or family, Irin Hill restaurant is not conducive to that.
Excellent food, never had a meal there that I did not enjoy. Great beer and staff is always friendly.
Enjoyable atmosphere, reservations are a must-great food although the portions could be a little better for both the appetizers and the meal-service was great
Had the best chicken pot pie ever!!! Food was delicious!
We can always count on a great meal and good beer
Good times as usual.
The menu has been cut substantially, some of our favorite things are no longer offered. There was a very limited selection and we had a hard time choosing from what remained.
Best fried calamari! Always enjoy dinner at any of the restaurants.
Unfortunate noise from construction did not go down well at a business lunch meeting.
Service for our food to an unusually long time which again at a business lunch meeting was not ideal
Menu changed. No special menu items left.
Long wait for everything. Arrived 655 for 715 reservation. Seated 745. Charbroiled ribeye 29$. Medium well- had no char. Seems it has gone downhill- pun intended.
My party was very pleased with our experience. We are a group of old friends who get together once a month for dinner. I moved to North Wilmington & our friends live in Bear & Elkton and each time we take turns picking a restaurant. My friends said they would like to come back again when the weather is warmer. So we will see you then. Thanks so much. By the way, our server was so sweet & thoughtful.
Luckily, this was not my first time here or I would never be back. It started out poorly by having to wait 20 minutes for my reservation..... but I get that, it's a Friday night and they doing the best they could. Let's get to the service though. Rushed would be an understatement for our server who pushed us along as quickly as humanly possible. So fast that our luke-warm soup came out before our drinks, which maybe would have been ok if the drinks were bar drinks, but I'm talking soda and iced tea. Next, the burger came out wrong. My crab cakes were ok. The schnitzel was amazing and the only saving grace of the night. I actually probably wouldn't have even put this poor review on here EXCEPT that before we left, the server came to the table and asked us to hand him all of the dirty dishes, and when one was missed, he pointed at it and told us to get that one too. Anyway, I've been here before with better food and much better service. I'll probably be back but not for quite some time.
This restaurant is amazing, I'm a member here and always get treated amazingly. The staff is very friendly and the food is the best quality and so yummy! I come here all the time for a nice dinner and some good beer.
The atmosphere was great and our server was outstanding. However, the changes to the menu were not thrilling. My husband tried the pepper soup which we were told had a spice, but it was so spicey he could only eat a few spoonfuls. He usually tolerates very spicey food. I ordered the pulled pork sandwich and was very disappointed. The pork was so fatty I was only able to take a few bites of actual meat. I would say the sandwich did not includ much meat and it was 70% fat 30% meat. Very disappointed. We will most likely try the restaurant again, however it will be some time before we go back.
5:30 reservation; got there at 5 and was seated right away. Drink orders taken within 10 minutes; drinks not served for 20 minutes. Then the food order was taken. a half hour wait for food. 2 soda orders, the soda was flat (at 3.25). The shrimp Etouffee was excellent, but served luke warm. Most food was warm, not hot. The service has declined over the past 2 years.
Unfortunately, we had a very bad experience. Typically, the West Chester Iron Hill has been fantastic. But, we decided to eat at the Wilmington location before a Blue Coats game. It took 20 minutes before a server came to our table. Food took over 45 minutes to come; and when it arrived, my salmon was cold. We had been very cordial during the entire experience, but we received no discount or refund.
Great place to eat out with kids. I especially love that the kids menu has lots of options on it beyond the typical chicken fingers and mac n' cheese (they have those too!). The service is fast and friendly. We have always had a good lunchtime experience here.
Dinner for 4 before a concert. The seating / table management cost us about 15 minutes wait time. Could do a better job at busy times. Server helped pick up the pace and our entrees all arrived fairly quick. Food was good which is why we selected iron hill. The alcohol service from bar to table is slow though. Not sure why .... that should be the ONE thing they do very well.
One of my favorite places to eat!!
Was not seated until 15 min past reservation time even though checked in 10 min early. Walk in arrivals seated before me. Extremely noisy. Iron Hill Wilmington does not seem to welcome parties larger than 4.
Iron Hill is always a good time. Consistent food and beverage options. Will admit a bit pricey for what it is.
Always great food and excellent service. Nice atmosphere to meet friends for a cozy dinner
Our server, James, was friendly and fantastic. He got our orders perfectly. Our salads were fresh and delicious and mom's french onion soup was the best around. Go to Iron Hill for great food and service. If you go away hungry, it's not their fault! Plentiful portions. Enjoy!
