Iron Hill Brewery - Newark Ratings and Reviews
Make sure you dont get seated near the island in the middle of the restaurant, they do something to clean perhaps dishes with bleach and the fumes are overwhelmingly strong.
I was hoping for a better review but I seriously couldn't even taste my Jaegerschnitzel due to the strong smell of bleach behind us.
My wife wanted to leave due to the smell, my mother in law thought her burger was the best ever.
Good food. nice place to drink beer.
Just watch out where you sit.
Iron Hill never disappoints. I'm a HUGE fan of their meatloaf, but I wasn't hungry enough to order on this visit so I tried the Hawaiian Pig pizza. It was spicy and went really well with the beermosa I tried for the first time. The beermosa was amazing! My son had the fish and chips, which were both perfectly cooked and the tartar sauce was something special.
The service from the bar was a little slow, but it was a busy Friday night, so I'll cut them some slack. Other than the service was very good.
Our server, James, was personable and lively! He knew the menu and made excellent recommendations. The food was delicious. The mushroom soup is out of this world yummy! The wings were crispy and full of flavor. Thanks for suggesting them James. The staff interacts well with one another- that’s nice to see.
We were excited to try out this restaurant, as the reviews were phenomenal. Personally, I thought it was good but the prices are extremely high for what you're getting and for the service and atmosphere. Our drink prices were astromical, $17.50 for a double vodka with a splash of cranberry. Everyone enjoyed the food, but not worth the amount you spend. The timing was off with salads before your meal, got both at the same time. They need to spruce up service if you're going to charge these types of prices. It just seems like they squeezed tons of tables in a small place too, a bit uncomfortable for our larger party.
We brought our son for his 21st birthday. It was a great evening. Large beer selection, great menu. We all enjoyed our meals and they even brought our son his dessert with a candle and on the House. Waitress was knowledgeable and pleasant. It was a great night. We will probably go back.
It was good for the most part. We were celebrating a birthday and had a relatively big party of 14 people. Our server seemed somewhat annoyed the first 30 minutes he took care of us. Lightened up a little over the course of the dinner but overall was not very friendly. Food came out fast, was very tastey. Drinks were great, and everyone at the table was satisfied. I just wish our server was a little more friendly. Being a server myself I know how much of a difference it can make when you are nice to your table, especially those who are celebrating something. Will be back for sure!
Always decent , a lot to choose from on the menu. Something for everyone. Service is usually pretty good, attentive. The only misses we talked about are the desserts. The lemon pie is the only one we liked. The triple chocolate Hill is so cloyingly sweet, you can’t taste chocolate and the apple crisp, not crisp and apples were tough. We eat here often so, the desserts we’ve tried hoping there would be improvement. Oh well.
We will return, it’s a reliable “go to” place locally.
We were in Newark for Parents Weekend, and we decided at the last minute to go to Iron Hill for an after-concert dinner. The food was excellent, the server was great. The only problem, and this has happened each time I have been there (three times), is that they keep us waiting at least 15 minutes past when our reservation is before seating us. It wasn't a problem on this trip, since we had a drink at the bar, but it has happened all three times, so it makes me wonder if the restaurant is bad at managing their reservations.
Parents and family weekend lunch. Second time dining here and we thoroughly enjoyed it again! Great new Octoberfest menu items (beer and food). Nice gluten free options. Fantastic service from Chris - one of the most attentive, knowledgeable servers we’ve had in years! Highly recommend.
We made a reservation for Friday, October 13 at 9pm (during Parent's weekend) - this was the earliest time available (which is understandable for the very busy weekend). However, we were saddened to see that many, many tables were empty/available when we got there at 8:30. We were starving and wanted to arrive early to sit down as soon as physically possible. Still, we waited until our reservation time. This would've been okay if 5+ tables hadn't been empty while we waited. These continued to be empty while we ate and were still empty by the time we left. This is worrisome - as many families were sent away on a "1 hour wait" (as announced by the hostesses). Additionally, it was shocking to see that there were about 6 hostesses that night, all standing behind the stand chatting... while tables just waited to be cleaned/occupied.
Other than this organization issue - we had a lovely dinner.
Full disclosure, this is our favorite restuarant in Newark. They craft beer are quite extensive and they always have several special brews on tap. This day I enjoyed their soup of the day, cheesesteak egg rolls and Salmon special for my entree. Soup was. Pumpkin cream. A little too sweet for my taste but very good. The cheesesteak egg rolls were also great. The Salmon came with a mustard sauce over mashed potatoes with asparagus. I happened to be drinking red wine tonight so didn’t get the chance to try the beer specials. Everything was very good. Service, as always, was very attentive, knowledgeable, and friendly. I strongly recommend Iron Hill to anyone looking for a good meal around Newark
Went there for dinner and was seated in between two large tables where I could not hear my own conversation..very noisy. Ordered the $28 special of filet with macaroni and cheese and Brussel sprouts which was like getting a lunch portion, and the steak was not cooked completely..waitress was awesome and compensated for the under cooked meat...too small of portions for the price..appetizers were good.
