We've been going here regularly for twenty years and this was definitely our worst experience. The salmon was overcooked. The burger was undercooked (it was requested well-done and came out medium). After 15 minutes, a replacement burger came out and was undercooked just the same. Only the southwest grilled chicken salad came out correctly. At least they credited the burger (since it was never eaten). Both rounds of drinks were delayed. Our waitress seemed to be apologizing all night. I had the impression they were both understaffed and had new people working. A manager apologized and gave us a $10 coupon for a future visit.
We were traveling for business but brought our kids - wanted a fun restaurant with lots of food choices and found this at Iron Hill Brewery. We asked to be seated outside and was accommodated - what a fun place to spend an evening. The street this restaurant is located on is full of things to watch, our food choices were delicious and our waitress was friendly and courteous- she made our meal better by her service - would love the opportunity to visit again.
I am so sad to write a poor review of Iron Hill. It must have been an off night ....This has been our go to restaurant for years. I think we will be taking a break for awhile, or just order food hard to screw up.
I ordered pan roasted crispy skin 1/2 chicken having visions of golden, pan seared crispy yumminess and what arrived was a pale , soggy piece of chicken. The skin was unpleasantly drooping to one side almost in shame of its flabby disposition. Perhaps brined too long ...
I couldn’t eat it and had to send it back. The manager was responsive and apologetic. I appreciate her professionalism.
I settled on an appetizer.
A steak ordered did not deliver in flavor or texture as if it had been pre cooked then reheated. Usually Iron Hill Brewery produces some tasty food. This time around we left surprised and wanting.
Service was excellent, food was as expected and served hot (those dishes that were supposed to be served hot!) and ready to go!
Thought chicken leg portion was small and probably from a Cornish hen? Crab meat and spinach was good but again a small portion. If I pay $20 for a meal exclusive of the appetizer I like feeling filled up but was disappointed on this end. Furthermore, the outdoor table was wobbly and couldn't exchange it for another. Finally, my wife didn't like the type of lettuce in her salad.
Iron hill in Newark needs a refresh - the tables are sticky and grimy and I feel like I am at Applebee’s and not the Iron Hill that I am used to from our time in Lancaster. The food was also off at this visit. You either get a normal sized pile of fries or what has become a funny handful scattered on the plate. This was the night of everyone getting about ten fries each. The fish and chips were also off but the service was great.
We had a great dinner. Service was great and food was very good and the drinks were cold. They seated us at the front window, and the only complaint would be they did not have any type of shade for the front window. We built a tower to block the sun from hitting our one guest in the face.
Great food and great service!
Over priced for how much food you get. The beer was good!!
Food and server were good. Overall experience was only fair as food service was very slow for a party of 1.
In Delaware for a conference. This was in walking distance of our hotel. Made a reservation since we had 9 people in our party. They had the table ready and gave great service! Everyone enjoyed their meals-menu had something for everyone.
Food and beer were excellent. Service was a little slow but our server was very friendly and everything else was good.
I had one of their signature burgers and it melted in my mouth. My burger tasted very fresh and I could tell the meat with high quality. Salads were also very good.
I absolutely love Iron Hill!! I live an hour away from Newark but every time I drive by the area or have an event to go to, I make sure to stop by this amazing restaurant. I love ordering the Drunk Monk Burger wide an extra side of fries. I'm a bit lactose intolerant but the cheese on the burger never gives me any trouble which tells me that the cheese is supreme quality! The service is always nice and the place is very clean. I love the aesthetic of the inside and the outdoor dining is just as excellent. 10/10 would recommend to my friends (and I do!) It's quite a treat to go to Iron Hill.
Always great beer, food and service at the Newark Iron Hill Brewery. Been going for 7 years and never disappointed. Great job folks - keep up the awesome work.
I would not recommend the ribs. They were tough and seemed to be boiled rather than grilled. The manager did give us a discount because I could barely eat the top rack of ribs due to their toughness. Everything else was pretty good!
Disappointed in the Brussels Sprouts appetizer, it was sloppy and some sprouts were large, some small so they were not cooked evenly. That is usually our favorite appetizer.
My husband had a cheeseburger and he said it was the least flavorful burger he has ever had. Our server was very friendly, but forgetful. Overall, it was very disappointing and $48 dinner for only 2 people.
This was my first time visiting the Newark location. I was a little discouraged initially because parking was challenging. But our experience was great. Our server was Angie, and she was very tentative to our needs, gave us amazing service, and great suggestions. The food was good and I will return!
Went with a group of senior guys for an evening of good food, good beer, and great conversation. Everyone enjoyed the meal and the opportunity to get together. Not quite sure about the $2 per hour parking behind the restaurant and some found the signs about parking a little confusing. I know that Iron Hill Brewery isn't responsible for the price or the signs but I suspect they could have a little influence. All in all, though, the evening was fun and we will definitely return.
Great place to meet friends for drinks and food! The beer was awesome!
This place was a great spot to host an amazing event. Some Gave All Beer release in honor of SSgt. Christopher Slutman. The bar was spot on with drink service, the wait staff were eager to assist in any way possible. We will certainly be returning for more meals in the future.
My entree was crudely prepared and excessively greasy. Didn't taste fresh.
Ate outside at Newark Iron Hill. Friendly and attentive staff. Great kids menu selection! One of our favorite restaurants!
We got in right away with no issue as we did call ahead. The place was packed, which is always a good sign. It’s typical bar food with no frills, but I’d return.
Food was great and went well with Pig Iron Porter. Ice cream made with Russian Imperial Stout was tasty!
We had a large group with separate checks which they were able to accommodate with no problem. The service was quick and the food was wonderful.
The service the food and the ambience was amazing we would go back there again we also joined your iron Hill club .
great place to east - love the fried Brussel sprouts and calamari - excellent choice of beers, service is great and the wait staff is very nice and knowledgeable on the beer choices - can get a bit loud when fully packed - but awesome place to bring kids and adults alike
Food was great, as well as service and everything in between!
We were there the day of graduation. Understandably very busy. However service was slow and some orders did not come back correctly.
Lightbulb was changed above our heads during a graduation lunch which caused the power to go out. Odd time to choose to do this... Food was okay, recommend sticking with a burger the fancier entrees weren’t great. Waitress was very sweet but forgot everything we asked for.
Great part of our graduation celebration
The fajita spiced salad is anazingggg
If you sit at a side booth and there is s Jared table in the center with a woman with a loud obnoxious laugh, it is hard to hear!
Iron Hill Brewery was great. The food and staff were wonderful. I won't be going back to Newark location though. The parking in Newark is a SCAM - beware!!!!! I was ticketed for parking because the 2 hour paid permit had unbeknownst to me flipped over when I exited the car and could not be read. When I tried to pay the $5 ticket online there was a additional $5 "convenience" fee added. Lesson learned - I will always check the parking permit from outside the car in the future. I know this was by no means the fault of Iron Hill Brewery but I wanted others to be warned.
We enjoy that Iron Hill Brewery-Newark and have it on our short list of "go to" restaurants. It does seem to us that the menu has been changed and some of the dishes we most enjoyed no longer are there. That said, we will continue to to view Iron Hill Brewery as a "go to" restaurant.
Great food but the service was beyond slow. We are regulars and I've never had poor service like this.
Our server was a delight: friendly & knowledgeable. The food was really good. The Reuben was the best I’ve ever had: tender meat, wonderful flavors (so nice to actually taste all the ingredients like the Swiss & the delicious sauerkraut), and is wasn’t greasy. Love the Porter!
