Iron Hill Brewery - Media Ratings and Reviews
Frequent the Iron Hill. Very much like the new layout, makes it feel like a Getman Oktoberfest tent. Food was good as usual, service was ok, they were busy so it could have been a tad better. Front desk staff was very accommodating and attentive. Will go back as i love the beers and ambiance
We love going here for the burgers. Somehow their burgers are the best-tasting anywhere. Also like that you can choose a small side salad instead of fries. I started with a cup of the Kennet Square mushroom soup and it was so delicious I wanted to lick the bowl - maybe its because of the truffle oil they add. Amazing.
Congratulations to Iron Hill on having such a popular restaurant. My advice to everyone is to stay away on Saturday. We had a 6:45 reservation. We arrived early and were not seated until 7:10. The waiting area was so over-crowded. The staff had no idea what to do. They kept walking around staring at their iPads. No one told us they were running late. No one apologized. The reastaurant was overcrowded and quite frankly a mess. It is usually nice, but they could not handle the Saturday crowd.
Grilled cheese came out burnt. When we asked how they can even send this out all they were able to do was apologize. They did bring out a new grilled cheese that was not black. Then my filet came out was was rare not medium rare. They just can't seem to get it right, ever. We keep trying. Won't ever go there again.
The seafood chowder special was indeed special. For that alone, highest marks. Fantastic taste and consistency, just right amount of a kick. I thought I liked the Brett IPA (née saison) enough to order the mug, but don’t think I would order again. Plenty of room for four in a booth, that makes a big difference. Overall positive experience.
We have dined at Iron Hill Brewery several times. This was our first time on a Saturday night, and it was hopping. Made reservations for 5:30 and we were seated pretty close to that time. Service was a little slow, but understandable since it was packed, but our server was good and very friendly. Food was delicious as always, lots of choices to please everyone. Beer selection certainly pleased hubby, and I was able to find a beer I liked also....the waitress brought me some samples to try. All in all a good experience. We will go back!
We don’t eat out often but when we do, we almost always choose Iron Hill because the food is consistently good, our grown kids like the craft beers, it’s in Media where we live, and they almost always are able to accommodate our request for a booth (because it can be very loud & 2 of us have hearing loss)!
We have eaten at Iron Hill for years and the food is always good. We tried the Oktoberfest menu on this visit. My husband had the Cheddar Bratwurst entree and liked it. Unfortunately, the chef Friday night was pretty heavy-handed with the salt. My mushroom soup was really salty. My friend's onion soup was also too salty. I ordered the Jaegerschnitzel, but they ran out of it, and I substituted the chicken. They kindly gave me the herb spaetzel on request instead of buttered noodles. Both the chicken and spaetzel were also salty. The chicken was over fried which made it a little tough, and it came swimming in oil. I was supposed to get haricot verts with almonds with it, but they substituted asparagus. It may be that they are overwhelmed with the response to the special menu, so they run out or have trouble executing it. I will stick to the tried and true menu items going forward. Our server was fabulous. This one experience will not prevent me from recommending or returning, but they were certainly not up to their regular fine standards that night.
Husband and I went for Oktoberfest dinner. The server arrived in a reasonable time and we ordered gin martinis which were acceptable. We did not have appetizers. We both ordered the sausage, pork and sauerkraut entire'. It arrived promptly. The sausages and pork were hot. The sauerkraut was ice cold. I sent mine back. It returned ice cold. I sent it back again. This time the manager came over and asked about it. I explained and he brought out a separate side of sauerkraut. That was cold. Doesn't anyone check the food before it's served? Even the manager didn't check. He finally brought out warm kraut and explained something about the oven. Was the oven broken? I don't know. If it's broken, they should know.
Anyway, all ended well. I was not expecting anything and refused the 20% discount on food and drinks but the manager insisted.
Iron Hill has good food and beer and we will return.
Always enjoy the Oktoberfest menu. Jaegerschnitzel (pork chops) is great! We went on a Saturday night and it was very noisy - a bit hard to hear each other, but have been there on other nights and it wasn't as bad. Made a reservation and got seated within minutes. Very pleased with the food and service
This was a great place to have Saturday lunch with a friend. My entree salad of Mesculun greens with pistachios, and cranberries and gorgonzola topped with grilled chicken was very tasty. My friend loved her salmon burger. The service was attentive and no one tried to hurry us. I had asked for a booth since I recently had surgery and needed padded seating and the staff made sure to honor my request. We spent two hours enjoying a leisurely meal and catching up. Overall, it was an excellent experience.
This review would have a very good rating if not for one reason. we made a 6:30 reservation, Iron Hill called to confirm. There were 7 people dining, 4 adults and 3 children. We arrived at 6:15 and did not get a table until almost 7:20pm. We were told that we had to wait for a table to finish eating to get our table. This bothered me because I didn't make an arrangement with another group for them to finish eating for us to get a table at 6:30, we made a reservation for Iron Hill to have a table for us at 6:30 and they did not. We had to deal with two crying children while we waited. They were apologetic and gave us three complimentary appetizers for the inconvenience which I appreciated but could have been avoided if they met their commitment. Another frustrating fact was after waiting longer to get a table and ordering our kids meals first so they could eat, the adult meals came out before the kids meals. Which caused more tears. It took more than 35 min to get a grilled cheese, a cheeseburger and some chicken fingers. These frustrations are the reason for the fair rating. The food was good, I have been to Iron Hill before and we will go back. I just hope this was an isolated incident that won't happen again.
