Iron Gate currently offers multiple menu options in our outdoor Patio Garden. Guests can choose from either an à la carte menu featuring an array of mezze plates and family style platters as well as a 3-course Family Table menu ($64 per person, for groups of 2 or more). Our menus change frequently based on the availability of seasonal and local ingredients. We will always do our very best to customize based on dietary restrictions and preferences.

A native of Maryland’s Eastern Shore, Chef Anthony Chittum has earned a reputation not only for his cooking, but also for his commitment to sourcing from a network of local farmers, watermen & food artisans. Chittum and his team draw inspiration from the cuisines of Greece, Sicily, Sardinia & Southern Italy.

    Join us under the Wisteria vines on our beautiful courtyard patio for a traditional Italian Easter feast! Chef is preparing a delicious three-course meal featuring (but not limited to) five antipasti dishes, three preparations of lamb, pasta al forno, our fresh-baked breads, and a delicious rhubarb custard crostada. Wine pairings, craft cocktails, and select beers will be available with your meal. A full menu for this experience is available for review at www.IronGateRestaurantDC.com. My experience was embarrassing and uncomfortable. My husband and I enjoy traveling and dinning all restaurants and exploring the menu and embracing the experience. Unfortunately for us we were 2nd class and not treated fairly. The reservation was books weeks in advance and I reached out a few days in advance to learn about the chef’s table. The communication with the restaurant was difficult and a poor website to navigate - it was hard to truly plan this special occasion. I tried to call again the day before my reservation- no response. I luckily receive a call to confirm my reservation and I inquire about the chef table and the information was available and I was expecting a call back. However I didn’t receive a call back so once we checked-in with hostess, I inquired again. Immediately learning it was the individual I spoke with and said she’ll provide the information shortly. We were told a table wasn’t ready and we had no problem waiting. While waiting 20 minutes past our reservation we didn’t receive any information. Once our table was available- we were sat on a table that was squeezed onto the terrace that didn’t provide enough heat for a comfortable experience. The table was on a 45 degree angle and slightly impossible to eat a meal. Finally after learning that the chef menu is a variety of the standard menu it was ridiculous. It went from being flexible about not having our table ready to an overall sour experience. Anna happened to be proactive and professional and I appreciate her transparency- but it’s not my responsibility as a guest. The experience is tarnished thus far and the concept and style of this restaurant should have executed this experience seamless. Instead we felt thrown into a last resort table - sat late on reservations... super frustrating when having a babysitter and short flexibility. Time should be respected and I know with Covid everything is adjusting but don’t squeeze tables without considering all circumstances. We never ate.

My Boyfriend and I dined here on Valentines Day. It was a wonderful experience on their back patio with heated seats and a fire next to us we were warm and comfortable. The food was outstanding, perfect choices for me being a pescatarian and him, a meat eater.

My girlfriend and I had a wonderful time dining here to celebrate Valentine's Day. The food was fantastic and the heaters available kept us warm for most of the meal. The courtyard is beautiful and we look forward to dining here again when the weather is a little more enjoyable!

Everything was great. Food, drinks, service, ambiance. Great enough to brave the freezing cold and eat outside. The restaurant charges 22% of the value of dinner for COVID-19 surcharge (tip is additional after that charge). I wish I knew this was going to be charged before dinner.

Absolutely amazing covid date spot. We went for Winter Restaurant week and were sat outside on a completely open patio (not a rental tent that might as well be indoors) with a personal fire raging by our table and 10 feet from the next closest table. It was 45 degrees and dark and we didn't need to keep our jackets on. The service was amazing, the food was amazing, and we look forward to coming back to try the regular menu soon! I thought the wine list was lacking in variety, but very on theme with the cuisine of the restaurant. Overall great experience and we'll be back.

Food for winter restaurant week was fabulous! The server we had was very kind and everyone took extra safe COVID precautions.
I will say that we sat outside per CDC guidelines and it was frigid. We had a gas-lit fire pit at our table but still couldn’t feel my toes by the end of the dinner. Wish it was warmer.
Also they charged us a $30 COVID tax, which went to the servers. I completely agree that the servers should receive this extra tip for working during the pandemic, however it would have been nice to be informed on their website about this, or before dinner. It was a surprise on the bill at the end of the night and didn’t seem courteous.

Always great service and great quality of food! They have heat lamps and now new seat warmers!!!!! Such a wonderful addition to the outdoor dining experience! The grilled mackerel and short rib entrees were fantastic!

The staff at Iron Gate is exceptional. They are friendly and are willing to go the extra mile. We were celebrating a birthday and had brunch on the patio with the heaters. While not the most comfortable way to dine, the staff made the experience a whole lot better. The food was delicious...I mean, really delicious but a little pricey for brunch. Overall we had a great time and I would go again in a heart beat.

Rude service., included a 22% gratuity for Covid without making aware at time of reservations or ordering food and expected separate gratuity on top! Food is excellent, so is the setting and the ambience. Second time visiting the restaurant, too bad the service was way below par than the first!

Great romantic ambience. Outside seating in a hidden courtyard. We were there in January on a night where it was about 45 degrees but were kept warm enough by the heat lamps.

Wanted an outside dining experience for our anniversary. We had seen recommendations for the courtyard at the Iron Gate Restaurant. We had a most enjoyable experience. The courtyard was pleasant and protected from the weather on all sides. It was 42 degrees. We had dressed warmly and were comfortable at a table for two with a propane heater next to us. The hostess was pleasant and answered all of our questions about the history of the restaurant and their experience during Covid. Our waiter was personable and professional. The menu was small, but creative, fresh, tasty, and fun. At the end, for dessert, they brought out a complementary delicious homemade ice cream bar with caramel sauce under the chocolate covering, that said "Happy Anniversary." Overall a very enjoyable experience.

This is one of my go-to special occasion restaurants and it did not disappoint in the time of COVID. The family table menu was excellent, as was the wine pairing. Everything was fresh and there wasn’t a weak dish in the bunch. All of the tables are appropriately spaced and there are plenty of fire pits. Don’t skip the autumn focaccia.

We gathered for a birthday dinner and it was a very chaotic evening . The waiter seemed agitated the entire evening and never made us feel comfortable. He kept interrupting our conversation at the most inopportune times.
The check out process was absolutely ridiculous, with each party member having to log onto an app and pay on line. It took almost 20 minutes for all six of us to pay our bill! A very unprofessional and awkward end to our evening. First restaurant during COVID that put us through this hassle.
I will say that the food was delicious and the ambiance was lovely. The only disappointments , food wise, were the desserts. The two inch Apple napoleons were $12 bucks a piece for two bite desserts! A complete rip off. My advice is to skip desserts all together and have an after dinner drink instead.

We did the chefs tasting menu with wine pairings. The food was good, but it just didn’t seem to be worth the cost. The wine was ok, but wasn’t anything special either. The COVID precautions are extensive (must wear mask when anybody approaches the table). They had some fireplaces and heaters but it’s not enough for a cold night despite trying to dress for the climate.
