Irongate is a beautiful restaurant. The cocktails are really quite spectacular. I'd recommend the "Just the Fig" if you're a bourbon drinker. The menu offers a variety of fresh and tasty options. We had the woodfire carrots, grilled octopus, and salmon bruschetta. All of them were divine. The restaurant also offers a great wine list. I would highly recommend.
Our daughter got married so we were celebrating. The servers were attentive, the timing of the dishes was perfect, as was the wine suggested by the sommelier. Nice experience!
Service was very slow at lunch although probably not the fault of the waiter who was attentive. I would’ve preferred to eat outside as most of the tables and chairs were dry by the time we arrived. Food was so-so. I had read a lot about the restaurant from Washington Post and unfortunately I was a little disappointed.
Everything was delicious. Highly recommend the Greek style chicken. They even sliced it up for us, and made sharing very easy.
We loved this place! Got seated by a fireplace - loved that there were several different rooms you could be seated in. Waitress was great and appeared at all the right times. We were catching up after a long time apart so the waitress was great about recognizing this. She also gave excellent food suggestions. Loved the pumpkin soup, beets, pancakes, and arancini! We also got dessert (a coffee/chocolate kind of “wheel”-shaped cake). Loved it all!!

Loved it! Not sure why it has taken me and my husband (DC residents) 20+ years to visit. Beautifully designed, romantic and innovative menu reasonably priced (as is wine list). We shared the red snapper for two and it was delicious. Enjoyed the Greek donuts for dessert.

A very nice experience indeed. The food was innovative and tasted great. Waiting service was excellent, as well as choice ion wine. The room we were in in was cosy and warm, with a real fire creating a special ambience. The whole evening was very enjoyable.
Iron Gate is such a gem, does not even feel like you are in Dupont Circle, feels like you're in a romantic restaurant in Greece. Situated on the cutest street, everything about Iron Gate is aesthetically pleasing and feels like a fairy tale. The food is always incredible and rotates seasonally so every dining experience is unique. Vegetarian friendly. Many items are roasted and cooked over an open flame, the restaurant always smells amazing. Fabulous cocktails and wine. Cute bar area. The outdoor patio is available all year long even in rain because it is covered by a retractable roof and grape leaf vines and twinkle lights make for a romantic setting. It is breathtaking. Do not forget to order the Greek donuts for dessert; they are exactly like how you eat them in Greece and so delicious.
We loved this place! We did the chef’s table meal with wine pairings. There was soooo much delicious food it was funny. Our waitress was delightful and the music was perfectly to our liking. Definitely coming back with friends and family ASAP.
What an evening. Got together with an old friend while he was in town. Dined for three hours, sampled a lot, and everything was great. Kudos to Crystal, our waitress; she timed out everything perfectly.
We enjoyed the environment, the food and the atmosphere. We plan on coming back in the Spring!

Amazing food, service and ambience. Our waiter was fantastic. He was in his late 40s or early 50s, a white guy with slightly graying hair. He was fantastic!

I was looking to find a non-corporate restaurant with a story, Iron Gate did not disappoint. My girlfriend and I are well travelled and eaten at countless great restaurants...this was a most memorable experience.
One of the best dining experiences in the district. I've been here several times and everything from the service to the food to the ambiance is always top notch. Service staff is always attentive and extremely knowledgeable, and the food is a noticable cut above most restaurants in the area. The focaccia is always a revelation with toppings that change every time I visit. The gnocchi in pork ragu was absolutely amazing and the pork ragu itself was remarkably tender with the sauce perfectly seasoned. Many menu items change with the seasons so there's always something new to experience. Iron gate is an experience I'll continue to come back to again and again
