   What a wonderful experience! Iron Gate was recommended to us, so we made sure to make a reservation well ahead of time. Our server, Joe, was amazing! Charismatic, funny, knowledgeable, and just all around amazing. All of the service, from the GM to the busser and food runner was TOP NOTCH. The food was incredible, make sure you order family style. We are only in town for a few days, but will definitely be back for brunch this weekend!

   The Iron Gate has been consistently good for years. The food is attractive and delicious and the service is friendly and efficient. The atmosphere is lovely inside and out.

   Dining selections from the tasting menu were all good and generous enough for 2. Cucumber tarts and grilled asparagus were excellent. Focaccia was too much! Monkfish with bacon good but by then we had eaten too much! Bar tender introduced me to excellent Greek gin.

   Food was delicious, service was perfect a d they added some nice extras to the family meal. Great for a special occasion.

   Not sure if I had 1 bad experience or what the deal was. I have had multiple friends suggest this place. So we tried it the other night. Appetizers were bland. The beet salad was not really good. The cucumber appetizer was the best of the bunch. We also had the asparagus and focaccia. The entree menu was very limited. We got the short rib and chicken. Again, not horrible but nothing special. The short rib didn't exactly have a lot of flavor. The chicken seemed to be tastier of the 2. Here are my issues: - Had a hair in one of the appetizers. I didn't send it back as I don't like to send food back. - Our server was fairly attentive but she was not happy at all and you could tell. Multiple times, we said thank you and not a single "you're welcome" response or a smile to acknowledge. My partner and I have both worked in restaurants in our distant past and this seemed odd behavior to us. The bus staff was a different story. They were very nice smiling and engaging. Overall I was very disappointed. I frequent pricey restaurants all of the time while this place wasn't the most expensive, it is not cheap.

   everything was outstanding and incredibly flavourful - we did the chef menu to try as much as possible and the only hiccup was the short rib which we thought was fairly dry. We should have gone for the sea bass, but it didnt seriously detract from the otherwise exceptional meal and experience

   This was incredibly disappointing. We came for our anniversary and this experience ruined our entire night. We opted to do the Family Table which is supposed to start with four plates of meze and focaccia. Instead, we got two small/underwhelming oysters and one bite each of a crudo that wasn’t explained to us (also one of the bites was stringy and texturally unpleasant). We did not receive the dates, the beet dish, the asparagus, or the focaccia. This is unacceptable and when we asked the server about it she said “the rest of the meal is coming” After taking our order for the things we didn’t end up receiving but were certainly charged for, the server came back (eventually. a sub-theme of the night was remarkably poor service) and told us that they were out of the whole roasted black bass. My partner is pescatarian, so the only other option for our family style main course was spice roasted cauliflower. We asked if they could do half portions to accommodate my pescatarian partner and also not force me to have a cauliflower dish i didn’t want and we were told no. We should have been offered the option at that point to decommit from the family table thing and just order a la carte, but we weren’t. The meal itself was so bad. We have been to hundreds of restaurants and this stands out as a memorable experience in the worst way. The service was indifferent and unaccommodating (our drink order wasn’t taken for the first 25 minutes of being there), and we didn’t get half the food we ordered (though, to be honest, the food we DID receive was quite unpalatable, so maybe this wasn’t such a bad thing…). The drinks were fine (couldn’t used a longer shake/stir) but comically overpriced and took forever to come out. Also the waitress kept assuming the man of the party was going to pay like it’s 1938, dropping the check in front of me even after my partner gave her credit card. Genuinely wouldn’t recommend anyone go here, especially not for a special occasion.
