Unique to Austin, but inspired by the popular concept experienced at small cafes throughout Italy, intero features an artisan chocolate counter in it’s front space. A variety of truffles, barks, and sipping chocolates in classic and Italian flavors can be enjoyed along with our locally roasted coffee program. Intero also offers a curated wine list and an engaging yet approachable cocktail selection.

We made a reservation at Intero per a recommendation and it did not disappoint! The ambience and food were amazing, however, what made it an all around amazing experience, was our server Quinn. Quinn answered all of our questions regarding the menu, had recommendations, and his service was incredible and welcoming. We had a great date night and will be coming back with friends.
All the dishes were excellent, unique, and beautifully presented. Service was attentive and very well informed on the dishes and the wine.Highly recommend this restaurant!
Amazing dining experience! Excellent quality ingredients, relaxing ambience and thoughtful service. On the meat & fish menu there could be 1-2 more dishes.
Try the Charred Cabbage!
Loved this restaurant. Everything we had was very good! One of the best happy hours in Austin. Make sure you try the charred cabbage and save room for the Affogato, the best I’ve ever had!
The meal was exceptional. We brought our toddler, and the kitchen was willing to work with us to put together some food for him, as well. Noise was at a really pleasant level until the 7:00 reservations arrived, at which point it became too loud to hear one another speak.
First of all, we knew it was going to be a late night and so we made a reservation. They had two late reservations left: 10:30 and 10:45. We chose 10:30. When we got there, I told the hostess we had a reservation. She showed us to a high-top in the bar area. I said no, I have a dinner reservation. I'd like a floor-level seat in the dining room. She said we'd have to wait while they set one up. When we got seated in the dining room, a young waiter came out and immediately informed us that while the kitchen was still open, we'd have to order and eat quickly. He said, "I'm not saying you have to chew and swallow fast, I'm just letting you know." I was taken aback. Why did they take reservations if they were going to rush their customers out the door? I felt immediately unwanted, as if we were somehow inconveniencing them. Maybe they wanted to clean up the dining room so that's why we were offered the bar. Maybe they just didn't want to open up another ticket in the kitchen at that time of night. But they had reservations on OpenTable (in fact, one even later than the one we took). The food was very good. I had no problem with the presentation at all, although the sauces tended to look a little goopier than they actually were. The portions are quite small, but I usually don't mind that if the ingredients are fresh and the dish exciting, which they were. The wait staff, however, especially the male waiter in the dining room, were off-putting, though. I have never felt so unwelcome in a restaurant. I think he actually sneered at us. That said, maybe if you go in at a reasonable hour with a lot of people and ordered a lot of food, they'd be nicer. I'm not going to give them another chance, though.
Great date night spot. Food was delicious and the dessert were phenomenal!!
Amazing service. Jordan is the bomb.
Amazing risotto with flank steak I’ve ever had.
I like it so much I gave my vegitsrisn wife a bite and we ordered another bowl of the risotto.
We will be going back for sure. ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Everything was great. The focaccia with ricotta, the charred radicchio, the halibut— all really excellent.
The halibut was phenomenal. Bummed the whipped cannelleni beans came off the menu but the scallop crudo- while a totally different dish - made up for it.
The volume in the restaurant continues to be my biggest (and only real) complaint. Service was outstanding.
Made very welcome and server was very knowledgeable about the menu and explained the different dishes. We started with the chicken liver mousse and the the carpaccio of beef which were both delicious. Then we had a pasta and the beef fillet with risotto which was an fab. Finished off with chocolate gelato which was so smooth and the flavour sublime.
Great service for the whole night.
Met friends for an early dinner on new year's eve. We started with the focaccia with ricotta and honey, and the saffron arancini with crab ragu. Both were wonderful. The ricotta and honey were light, leaving enough "space" to enjoy the bread as well. The arancini were served hot with a crunchy outside, and the ragu had plenty of crab. For dinner, the three entrees we ordered were: lasagna w/braised duck and butternut squash (very tasty and not too heavy); seared duck breast with a lovely lightly grilled suchoke torta with crispy hazelnuts (this was mine and it was wonderful); and the seared halibut with cauliflower (this had a green, lightly citrusy little sauce/relish? -- so good!). The wine list was nice and not overly priced. We had an orange sorbet with pistachio cream -- a perfect ending. Service was great, as well. All our food was served timely, someone checked in on us often, but not overbearing. A great evening!
Pickled cauliflower and agnolotti? Confusing. As was the shredded confit of wagyu that filled them. Overly salty on everything.
The focaccia was tasty but four slices for $8 doesn’t present much perceived value.
Always a great experience
Great Food! Amazing list of wine
Food and service was great. Definitely going to make it back.
Best restaurant in town that you haven't heard of. Great prices for flawlessly executed food with inspired pairings of surprising and often overlooked ingredients. Just one of the best dinners you can get in Austin. And chocolates for dessert!
Great date night spot. Truffles were good. Will definitely return!
Our first visit here a couple of months ago was outstanding, but a visit this week was not great. Food and service were just OK this time and we were celebrating my birthday with a group and had raved about this place. Sadly, no one was wowed like we'd been before. Very disappointed.
Always so good! Highly recommend this place to anyone.
Run, don’t walk, to Intero, your new favorite Italian place. Modern and unique but unpretentious approach to Italian, this place is so special. Add it to the top of your list for every special occasion, multiple members of our group said this was the best meal they’ve ever had. Also, everyone that works here is just so ridiculously good looking - did they hire y’all from a modeling agency?? Came here for my 30th birthday, and boy do they sure know how to treat a bday girl right. Literally squealed w delight at such nice surprises throughout the meal. Bravo, and thank you so much for a truly memorable evening. I will be back for every birthday here forward, and will forever recommend to every single person I know (and don’t know!) Bravo, Intero crew. Bravo.
The food and drinks were honestly some of the best I’ve had in Austin. Highly recommend.
Everything we had was excellent! Can’t wait to go again. The restaurant got very busy by 8 PM I think I would possibly do a 6 PM reservation to have a more even flow of things coming out. But it was well worth the wait!
Such a wonderful experience all around. My husband and I were celebrating our first anniversary and were treated like VIP guests the entire time—a card when we arrived, a Prosecco toast. Our server and the entire front of house staff was friendly and professional. The food was outstanding—uniquely plated, seasonal, and delicious. Chocolates at the end were incredible and such a treat. Would go back many more times.
Such a fantastic dining experience. Unique and thoughtful food, service, and presentation.
Very high quality
Food was very good, very different than a typical Italian restaurant. Ambiance was ok. Fairly quiet.
Menu and wine list were not that extensive but all we tried was good. A little pricey but not too bad.
They do make their own chocolates and they were great!
All four of us enjoyed Intero quite a lot, including our two vegetarians. The charred cabbage on a piquant mustard sauce was a standout appetizer, and the smoked quail on a bed of polenta with a rich mushroom sauce was excellent. Nice wine list and excellent service, we look forward to going back.
I can definitely recommend the cabbage small plate and maybe the ricotta focaccia, but everything else was just ok. The carrot small plate was disappointing. The duck pasta was light and good. We had a group of four people and ordered a bit too much, and I can't even remember the rest of the pastas that we had ordered.
Unfortunately the dining area was really dark, without cell reception (maybe a good thing), without windows - could be considered quaint.
The food was delicious however set
Great service and attention to detail. Food was all spectacular! All around amazing experience!
Overall an enjoyable evening and would return. Appetizers and main courses were quite good. Unfortunately thought desserts were underwhelming and did not meet expectations, especially with owner having an apparently strong dessert background. Work to be done here.
Great service and great food
Great food and service. Arancini wonderful as was halibut
It’s all well thought out from the design elements inside and out to the ever changing seasonal menu of savory and sweets (chocolates!)
One of my favorite places in Austin. A lot of heart here, from the considered wine list to the handmade chocolates. And they have veg (handmade pasta) dishes, as well as GF options.
The food is excellently prepared. But be forewarned.... it is not traditional Italian food. Not the tomato sauce pasta or lasagna. But I say, let it go! The twists and advances in the food choices are so good. Be brave, try a new dish. The menu is inventive and satisfying. I recently had the halibut in a cream sauce that left me wanting to lick my plate.
I will say this... for the quality of the food, the surroundings are a bit underwhelming and can make the experience feel less special. The staff is friendly and informed.
The Chocolates alone are worth the trip!
Much more than a typical "neighborhood" restaurant in Austin's East Side, Intero consistently delivers exceptional food, including a smorgasbord of veggie-focused, superb apps and small plates, while maintaining a diverse selection of carnivorous options. Our party of four shared some apps and small plates, then shared a "shrimp sausage" entree and the "family-style" wagyu bee short rib, the latter a massive, Fred Flinstone-sized single rib with french fried onion strips, gorgonzola, jalapeño, and a nice sauce. The shrimp sausage had peppers and risotto and was both unique and excellent. "Short" wine list but well selected, and very good craft cocktails. Fun stuff!
The food was very good, but the service was a little disappointing. After we had finished our meal, the waiter came by and asked if we would like him to "tidy up". We weren't sure what he meant, but our thought was that he was asking if we wanted the remaining bits of our entrees boxed up. We said no. Apparently, that isn't what he meant and as such decided to leave us alone for quite some time. When he did come back, I mentioned to him that we didn't understand what he meant by "tidy up" -- his response was to "improve his vocabulary". He left the check and never returned. I finally had to walk it to the bar to pay because we got tired of waiting for him to return.
As I said above, the food itself was very good - the layout, ambiance, etc were all good. Just wish the service was a little better.
What a lovely place for a special night. Would love to try the Happy Hour some time.
