My experience at International Smoke was worthwhile. My date and I loved the food, waiting service, and the warm and convivial ambiance. We’ll certainly visit again soon.
I was very disappointed. We had a 8:00 reservation got there at 7:30 and checked in. Did not get seated until 8:30 almost. Then ordered the steak medium rare and it wasn’t neither was my friends she sent hers back but I was so hungry and the steak was disappointing. For the amount of money your paying none of this should be a issue. Needless to say I won’t be going back The side dishes were good though.
Every was excellent especially the ribeye. We had a great time and plan on returning soon.
Nice place to go with friends for drinks and dinner
We had a reservation but still had to wait about another 20 minutes or so while they were cleaning up our table. Other than that, the service and food was good. Good place for a night out with friends or family.
My second time visiting. And enjoyed it even more. A must restaurant if your in the city .
This was my second visit.
We were totally impressed with atmosphere, food, and service at our first visit.
However, this visit started on a very disappointing tone with poor reception staff and service. There was a level of confusion of many parties waiting and empty tables in the restaurant. We had reservations for 5:15 and was not seated until 5:30. It was obvious that the hostess had forgotten us, since she had to come over to ask for my name twice. I asked for a quiet table when I made reservations and was offered a table close to the front door. We were finally reluntantly seated at another table. The food and service were good, but the poor reception service set a negative tone on our dining experience.
Everything went great, my server was amazing, unfortunately only one thing was off it a 12oz RY steak. First of all it came out instead off ( Medium) as a Well done. And then when they are replaced it, it was too dry and not tasty, but again thanks to are amazing server, she ended up took care the steak ( and took it out of are bill, which we didn’t ask her to do this. Other then this oil would highly recommend this restaurant to everyone.
After Phantom of the Opera, I took my husband here for his birthday treat/dinner. We were seated immediately finding a Birthday card on our table, what a nice touch. Servers were very attentive and friendly! We ordered Ribeye and Black Cod, deliciously prepared, it was super good! Thanks for the birthday ice cream sandwich, my husband ate it all:-) he did share a bite with me😍Thank you for making our day/night memorable!S
Our server was terrific and everything you want to have in a server: friendly, knowledgeable, help in choosing menu/wine pairIngs, did not rush us. Ribs were excellent and American BBQ sauce very tasty! Garlic fried rice was the only downside; teeny portion and lukewarm when presented. Favorites were shishito peppers and burrata.
Excellent service, food was tasty!
Food was just so so. Ribs were good.
Had a melon & crab salad. It just didn't taste good. Flavors didn't blend. You kind of force yourself to like things because it's the hot spot.
Food was solid. Service was awesome. Very friendly staff.
Overall, it was a good experience. The hosts were definitely accommodating and attentive as we waited for one last colleague to arrive, they made sure to offer us drinks and if we were interested with checking in our bags and coats. Food: we ordered a full-rack of ribs to share, there were only 7 pieces and there was five of us - it clearly was not enough to have 2 pieces of ribs each.
The Korean BBQ was tasty, again portion was on the small side. The drinks were definitely on point and the appetizers also deserves credit!
The smoked Barrata cheese with tomatoes was exceptional and the 3 different types of porks ribs was great. Just the right amount to share. Will be back soon.
I left in great pain from overeating. EVERYTHING was tremendous and I couldn't stop. We got the tasting menu and added a few additional items. It was worth it, but careful not to order too much as you will have a hard time stopping.
I will definitely come back.
Delicious food and great place for a date. Plates are easy to share and the food is fantastic!
Got some fries, an appetizer, that were supposed to be rosemary/ garlic...unfortunately not. I ordered two glasses of sparkling wine to have with my meal, this was a birthday celebration, wine came past midway of our entrees. Music over sound system was almost overpowering throughout meal.
Perhaps more suited to a millenial crowd.
Awesome food!!! Awesome service!!! Great for a night out or a quick lunch:-) We will be back for more:-)
The whole atmosphere was wonderful! Will definitely come back!
We just finished an amazing dinner at International Smoke! We went to celebrate our anniversary and they made us feel loved! We went with the tasting menu + shellfish add on and it was all delicious and very very filling. Our favorites were the wagyu beef tasting, the crab soup with curry cornbread, as well as the smoked burratta! We loved our experience and would definitely go back again to try a new tasting menu or things from the main menu!
I can’t believe a savvy chef like Michael Mina is involved with such a poorly run establishment. Yes, the steak and ribs are delicious, but the overall dining experience is unacceptable. The service is not only glacially paced, but the staff is completely joyless. Expressions run from glum to robotic. We felt like we were “put through” dinner. Not what you want from a fairly expensive night out. Keep it!
Best food. Best customer service. We had a card on our table greeting us happy anniversary. Immediately when we sat down we were greeted with free champagne for our anniversary. And everyone who walked by greeted us. We have shaking wagyu beef. The flavors were great. Reminded me of a banh mi but in a lettuce wrap. The cooking at table side was cute. Then we had the burrata. It was served with smoke with a glass cover and opened table side. Great presentation. And the smell made me want to eat it faster. I had the 9oz wagyu. Best cooked steak I ever had. And the wagyu was amazing. Also had the curry cornbread. It has interesting flavors of a little heat, curry and sweetness but it somehow all works. We also had BBQ chips and this green dip. I have to say I didn’t like BBQ chips before this. It these chips and dip were good that I kept wanting to eat more. Lastly I had the chocolate mousse for dessert. WOW! Loved every part of it. I love how it is layer because each spoonful had all the flavors. The mousse was light. The red velvet was moist. The crunchy chocolate was a great contrast. And the fresh strawberries offset all the creaminess and sweetness.
Overall the restaurant was very good. The food was exciting and good. The cocktails were awesome.
Amazing! Heather was wonderful and catered to our every need. Definitely coming back soon and bringing more family and friends!
I celebrated my birthday there and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The food was out of this world. The staff were so friendly and genuine. I loved the cool vibe of the restaurant. I will be back many, many times!! Thanks so much!
The food was amazing! We had the pork short rib combo rack; 15 ribs prepared 3 different ways (carnitas, sesame, and american bbq). We also had the duck fat fried fries, creamed corn, and garlic fried rice. The menu had a great array of drinks and had great option for non-alcoholic drinks as well. I would recommend this restaurant for any occasion. Awesome food & great atmosphere.
Food was okay to good. Service fine. Prices for barbecue/ smoked food over the top. The name is perhaps misleading. International smoke? Up in smoke might be more accurate.
Our server Alex was incredible with food knowledge and helped cater to my allergy meticulously and provided phenomenal service! The hostess Raven and manager also were very accommodating to us running late for our reservation! Food was absolutely amazing in taste and presentation and we can’t wait to go back again to try more!!! Thank you to the entire team for making our anniversary so special!!!
Wow! Great food in a casual environment. Excellent for a business lunch
Smoked Buratta with Tomatoes and Pancetta appetizer is out of this world!!
Fantastic food but the service needs an upgrade to match the quality of the food and the pricing.
Food and drinks just incredible. Best mac and cheese I have had. Duck fat fries very tasty
Perfect date night setting
Great! Food was amazing and ambiance was top notch
Wasn’t sure about all the hype, but it is definitely well deserved. The wait staff was on point and the food was excellent. We had the Curry Corn bread and sampler pork ribs. The ribs were wonderful. Great flavor and fun to try. I would encourage everyone to give this place a try!
Great food and service.
We enjoyed the food at International Smoke very much and would give a higher rating but the service was not good. Our server seemed very inexperienced, long waits to order, food was served before the wine, dessert delivered without utensils and ice cream melted by the time we could eat it. One of the worst service experiences we’ve had at an SF restaurant.
Food was amazing! We sampled several apps and mains, all were delicious. Favorite was the smoked burrata, heirloom plum & tomato salad, prosciutto. The wine list by the glass needs work. For a restaurant that is primarily meat and not have heavy cabs on the list?
