Came for SF Restaurant Week! $65.65 per person for about 10 dishes of International Smoke’s most popular dishes. It was a great little taste of everything! Left very full and with leftovers!

This was our second visit to International Smoke, and our previous experience helped us choose not just what to order, but how much. We started with the cornbread, which is so moist and the Thai red curry butter is so yummy - it's a struggle not to just eat it all at once, but it is much better to save some for the ribs. The smoked burrata was delicious, and the presentation is dramatic and elegant. Maybe could have benefited from a better beet-to-burrata ratio (the burrata was a bit scarce), but delicous. And the chicken karaage? Too good! We ordered a half rack each of the Korean and Vietmamese ribs which was plenty for the three of us. So well seasoned, cooked to perfection and falling-off-the-bone tender. We were too stuffed for dessert, which was a shame, since I was looking forward to another bite of that fab key lime pie. Next time!

We went for SF Restaurant Week. The portion and sampling was incredibly generous and service was impeccable. Took one star off because almost everything was a bit overly salty.

Inside setting was very laid back. A nice ambiance with the lighting and decor. The staff were very friendly and helpful when it came to the menu and explaining things. I would definitely return.

I brought my family to International Smoke for the start of Restaurant Week. I had been here with co-workers and wanted to share the fabulous array of flavors with my fam. Thinking I could get away with just the Restaurant Week special, it was advised by the server that all needed to participate. Well, that wasn't going to work with one of my fussier members, so we ended up choosing dishes from the regular menu.

First of all, we all had Ayesha's Fresh baked cornbread with the wonderful red curry butter which is more like a glaze that is already poured over the bread when it arrives. I thought my fussy family member would fuss, but he like it! We also ordered the Tokyo-Style karaage, but we probably didn't need it since we shared the Truffle Caesar salad. Very interesting flavors with the sweet onion crema. From past experience, I felt that the combination St. Louis cut pork ribs would be good share selection with the three different flavors of American BBQ, Vietnamese lemongrass, and Korean Sesame-Gochuang. My husband wanted the Crab Fried Rice, which at first, came in a small dish. But it was very deceiving because it is a rich buttery dish. We also couldn't resist ordering the tea smoked Sonoma Duck, which sounded delicious, but it came on ginger red rice, which made the crab fried-rice a bit redundant. However, the Chinese mustard sauce (it says 'hot' but it wasn't) with the duck and persimmon was truly a good blend of flavors.!

PS. Mr. Fussy also opted for a PLAIN bacon cheeseburger, but I guess the kitchen thought plain meant only the vegetables because the burger had included the secret sauce. However, Mr. Fussy didn't tell me this until he was halfway through his burger, which he described as 'okay.' He did not care for the sauce and it was too late to tell the server. However, the fries made up for any disappointment that Mr. Fussy felt.

We did not have dessert because we were too full. But we had a little to bring home and a great experience.

Everything was excellent as always—we branched out from the ribs to try the chicken and burger which were absolutely delicious. Try the power business lunch—starter, main and delicious cookie for $35. Great deal for an amazing lunch!

Celebrated our son’s birthday and it was a lot of fun! The food was delicious, especially the cornbread, ribs and cauliflower. And the salmon and chicken were a much appreciated option for our son’s girlfriend who doesn’t eat red meat. Food is served family style for everyone to share, which adds to the celebratory mood. The cocktails we had were creative and tasty. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the music and vibe were cool and festive! Older folks might find the music a bit loud, but we enjoyed it for a birthday celebration. Birthday dessert of molten chocolate cake was decadent. We split it among the 5 of us because we were so full, but the bites were a perfect finish to the meal. I recommend International Smoke if you’re looking for a fun, trendy spot to celebrate a special occasion or treat out-of-town guests.

Celebrated my birthday and anniversary. The team gave us cards for both occasions and a complimentary dessert with a candle to wish me a happy birthday. I truly appreciated that! Food was amazing, desserts were new — a tad too tangy for my taste, but tasted great! Would definitely come back to try out the other dishes.

SF Health Department had posted a notice high up on a smoke-glass window near the entrance that INTERNATIONAL SMOKE had posted a poor score in terms of health and cleanliness-related issues. I believe the score was 71. Which some might say is a C- grade.

But INTERNATIONAL SMOKE is billed as a high-class restaurant. So any score less than 100 should be unacceptable.

I should have trusted the sign, especially after a night of gastric distress that followed my consumption of poorly cooked salmon. I’ve eaten plenty of raw salmon before at restaurants who know how to handle it (like in nigiri). But clearly, INTERNATIONAL SMOKE needs better handling procedures to keep the bacterial load as low as possible.

didn’t love the food. i’m all for fusion but most of the things we had were all slightly odd in some way or another. friday night reservation, server was sweet but way too busy so we had some big delays in service.

If you want ribs and a few interesting sides that are comfort food this is the place to go. Has the feel of a chain, service for our food from the kitchen was slow I thought, and of course, there is a bevy of people who bring your food. My friend loved the Korean short ribs.

I expected more from a Michael Mina restaurant - we didn’t receive our appetizer and my salad was more of a soup. No effort was made to correct the missing item or poorly made salad. Food was ok, atmosphere was good, service was poor.

Place I think may be over rated. Not too many choices on menu and meat plates over priced. Took half of my meat to go and when I opened it at home it had a fly inside crawling around my $67 piece of meat :/ had a great date but not one I would return to. It was more for the experience

Diva’s unite!!! Lol. Another Diva Nite, back at it. This is not our first time here. Something new every time. We had to try our favs and then add something new.

AYESHA’S FRESH BAKED CORNBREAD (2) thai red curry butter is always a tasteful addition to any entree. Asked for an order of 3, Instead of the usual 2 on the menu. Same for the “INSTANT” BACON BAO BUNS (2) pork belly, five-spice, sweet chili sauce. Something new. Nothing like these pork buns!!! Scrumptious!!!

CEDAR-SMOKED SALMON celery root, maitake mushrooms, brussels sprouts, bacon-sherry vinaigrette was cooked a little longer yo my liking. That’s Devin for the recommendation!! SINALOA CHICKEN achiote, chili, sweet potatoes, avocado was tasty too. The scallops were one of the specials of the night, appearance, wouldn’t expect anything less. Took an order of Rosemary fries home for my son, loved them. Although he initially asked for the sautéed mushrooms we had at our last visit. He wasn’t too disappointed when he received these hot fries.

LILIKOI MAI TAI, havana club rum, goslings, lilikoi, pineapple, lime, slurptatious times two. very flavorful and creative. The SPAM can kept it Unbelievably really cold.

Always a joy!!!! Plus the eyes candy.... lol.

It would be great if the tables were a little bigger when you order family style and it’s only 2 people. When you have an intention of sampling the menu it would be nice for the restaurant to accommodate. Apparently a $320 bill for 2 people was not enough to make a difference.... disappointing.

Burger was way to much to eat as a lunch when accompanied with the soup. It was really good when open faced on the plate!
My friend had the fish option and I noticed he did not eat it. There was some additional topping that maybe he didn't like but not sure. Did not feel comfortable asking.
The server was excellent and very nice. The service was a bit slow but we did eat at 12:15p so it's to be expected.

This just didn't do it for any of us. We were excited about the appetizers - but they all showed up within a few minutes - no spacing and certainly no time to sit and chat over our (very small) drinks. And then all of the sudden arrive the ribs and we had everything sitting on our table inside of 15 minutes of sitting down. It was weird. Servers kept trying to take away plates. It felt like a huge rush. We showed up for our 6:30 reservation and things emptied out in an hour or so - it didn't seem like they needed to treat us like that. The ribs were super sweet but we did enjoy the Korean ones a lot. Super cool space - really loud though until a bit later. Don't take someone with hearing issues. One of the loudest SF restaurants for sure. The bartenders when we sat earlier at the bar were all over it and really nice. The table service just didn't make this a good experience.
