All Round great and one of my fav restaurant in SF!
Cool date place with a nice layout and vibe. Service was a tad slow and overall the food was good. Not great but good. Probably won't come back for dinner, but would be a cool spot for happy hour.
Food was full of flavor. Vibe was young and hip
Food was so delicious and great on presentation! Our waiter was incredible! We have a time frame and he made sure we got our food on time! Will
Be back soon!
The Food was amazing! Portions were right on. 👍🏿👌🏿😃
Hi guys, only thing is I made a mistake by going out on valentines night as I feel like we were shoved to the bar side where there are four tables. I really don’t like paying top notch money to be sitting at a table 4 feet from the bar. The two speakers for the bar area were right next to my ears as loud as could be. Lovely people working there and service was good, food great but the meet didn’t seem the nicest.
Food was great. Only complaint would be when I asked for the bill it took the waitress 15 minutes to give it to us and it made us late to a show we were headed to. Also they forgot a dish we ordered, it never came out.
Went with my husband for a special occasion. He spent his time watching basketball on the multiple TV's scattered around the restaurant and bar. Needless to say, he got an earful when we got home. I was not amused.
If I had known that this restaurant is nothing more than a high-priced sports bar, I would not have come.
The food is flavorful, as long as you are happy with every (EVERY!) entree tasting like barbecue. Personally, I'm not a big barbecue fan. Fish barbecue. Beef barbecue. Pork barbecue. Chicken barbecue. Tofu barbecue. Vegetable barbecue. You OK with that? Good, because those are your choices.
Will I be coming back? No. Will my husband be coming back? Perhaps, but not with me.
Solid meal! The Cornbread and Korean Ribs are legit! I’d also recommend a signature cocktail.
The food had some high points, but overall I was disappointed. I was with a group and we ordered a bunch of appetizers. The cornbread was very good. It was moist and had a nice sweetness that good cornbread should have. The Double Duck Wings were the highlight of the meal. The glaze was delicious with a kind of Carribean/Asian fusion going on. I expected them to be spicy, but they were quite mild. The Shaking Beef Lettuce Cups were fine, but unremarkable. I could have had something like this anywhere. The Crab and Thai Coconut Soup was very good, with a generous amount of crab in it. They had slices of raw jalapeno floating in it, which didn't really go with the soup for me, so I avoided them.
For salads I got to try the Smoked Burrata and the California Avocado. It was served under a dome filled with smoke. My first bite was almost too smokey, but after that initial shock I really enjoyed it. The beets were great. The avocado dish was very nice, if a bit simple. It was just a half an avocado with shredded jicama on top and a small amount of chili sauce at the bottom. It tasted very good, but I also just like avocado and jicama. If you aren't a particular fan of the ingredients, then there wasn't anything about this dish that would change your mind.
We got the combo rack of ribs, which is actually three half racks. Of the three the Korean Sesame-Gochujang glaze was my favorite, but the ribs themselves were fairly overcooked and dry. That was especially true of the American Barbecue ribs. They were so dry, and they left the silverskin on, which was very unpleasant. I feel like I could get better ribs from any number of take out barbecue joints. Very disappointing.
Yes, but they see themselves as a bit too precious to be more than a one time experience. Not only do they insist on a CC to hold a reservation, they then send multiple requests for you to confirm you are coming, again and again. Then when we arrived, 3 of the 4 of us were early and one person was running behind, they would not let us sit down until the 4th arrived, and this with the restaurant basically empty.
The food is always on point at IS. The wait staff is so friendly and knowledgeable. It is truly a wonderful experience to dine there. A little pricey but worth it.
Great flavors! Family style sharing plates. Enjoyed our meal!
My wife’s birthday
Loved place was awesome, food was amazing and the staff was courteous.
Our waiter's name was Glen and he was the best. Ask for him on your next visit. He makes the experience even better. Great service and very nice.
My wife and I are visiting from Alabama. We really wanted to experience this spot. It was totally worth it. The setting was nice, the service was excellent, and the food met our expectations.
Friend came to town and we wanted a great spot in the city for dinner and drinks. International Smoke was the perfect place!
The food was amazing and the service was particularly good. Kaiser (sp?) took especially good care of us. He was extremely attentive, very interactive, gave us lots of great advice for the food. What a great experience all the way around.
Wonderful experience. Delicious food. Great service.
Would go back again.
All good, enjoyable meal. Finding parking was hard.
Food and drinks were good...the booth we were seated in was not comfortable.
Great spot for lunch and really appreciated the lunch menu
While our service was excellent, where we sat was dark and extremely loud from the overhead music. Food was not as expected. 2 in our party had ribs and I had the Sinaloa Chicken. The liquid smoke in all our dishes was overpowering.
Great service, amazing food - perfect for client dinner. Energetic ambiance and attentive service. Would come back.
The food was creative and delicious. It is a great spin on traditional barbecue and there was a lot of variety on offer. My party ordered a variety of small plates to share and we were more than satisfied. Specifically, we had the fish tartare, the beef lettuce cups, the yams, the mac & cheese, the cauliflower and the corn bread. Of all the items, the fish was the least interesting/flavorful. The cauliflower was very interesting - it was a full head of cauliflower covered in a sauce and sprinkled with pomegranate seeds. It was delicious and unusual. Everything was a little on the sweet side for me, but I chalk that up to my fellow diners' choices. Had I been on my own, I would have ordered differently. The mac and cheese seemed a little scary to me (not a fan of meat on my mac), but turned out to be fantastic - gooey, cheesy mac topped with really yummy pork meat. They complemented rather than competed with each other. The corn bread was more like a cupcake, but a really delicious cupcake, so that was fine with me. The table service was really really great. But I was annoyed by the policy of refusing to seat an incomplete party - we had a reservation for 3 for 6:45. I arrived at 6:45, my second guest arrived at 6:50, but the third couldn't find parking and they wouldn't seat just the two of us despite our reservation for which I was required to use a credit card. That was annoying. Otherwise, it was a good experience and I'd do it again.
We went for my fiancé’s birthday- he loved it! Food was amazing and the server Devin was so nice
Upon arrival we felt the vibe . We noticed the employees were special-they knew about customer service. The prices shocked me, the food was too good and reasonable. The Cesar salad was the best one I have ever had. When you take something simple and embellish it with truffle oil😋. The molten cake as well was worth it.
The food is very good. Overall restaurant is very nice. Maina was exceptional!!!
I would only go back if Marina was still the manager of the restaurant. Everyone should remember that it's a people to people business. The company is only the supporting cast.
Thank you for participating in Restaurant week!!!! thanks for the ribs!
Overall, the food was OK. I had the Saint Louis Ribs and it was really chewy and hard to even cut with regular table knife. I won't recommend it.
Thoroughly enjoyed the food. At first I thought it was a little pricey, but I was more than satisfied with the taste and the portion sizes. I had the Duck wings for an appetizer. The menu description didn't do them justice. They were absolutely amazing. For an entree I had the Korean sesame half rack of ribs and the brussel sprouts for a side. Both were great and filling. I had the Curry Up Now cocktail which was also very good. I highly recommend this place, and I will be back during my next visit to San Francisco.
I usually eschew restaurants with celebrity connections (Ayesha Curry in this case, and by extension Steph Curry), but S.F. Restaurant Week gave us the incentive to try a Michael Mina restaurant. The food did not disappoint. The SFRW menu gave a good sampling of their menu at a good value. The seafood, ribs, chicken, and Ayesha's Key Lime Pie were consistently high quality and delicious.
The service, however, was not commensurate with the food. It may have been due to SFRW, the place was packed for a Thursday night. The staff from hostesses, food runners, and bussers were all friendly and efficient, except our waitress. The best thing I can say about her was that she asked us about food allergies (peanuts for my son; they substituted Falafel and Hummus for the Tom Kha Soup that had peanuts), and she kept our water glasses filled as we waited 15-20 minutes between courses of the 3 course (10 items) meal. We were there for over 2 hours. Besides describing the menu and taking our order (the SFRW menu), we had very little interactions with her - she never checked up on us, never updated us on the kitchen delays, and when we had questions about the food her answers were curt and bordering on dismissive. She even brought us the wrong leftovers; luckily we checked.
So despite the very good food, the kitchen and service did not hold up their end of the deal, and we left feeling the dining experience was incomplete. I hope you get a better waitperson.
I've been meaning to try International Smoke for a while and immediately made reservations when I saw it on the SF Restaurant Week list. The service was wonderful even though the restaurant was packed. The prix fixe menu really made sure we tasted every corner of their menu and it did not disappoint. I will definitely be back!
Excellent food, lively ambiance, great
service! We enjoyed every minute, and will go back!
The black cod dish was amazing. Alesha’s cornbread was too sweet and the sauce did not taste like curry. I think that if you eat a lot of meat this place might be perfect
SF Restaurant Week, loved the price.
Food was delicious, service was great!
