Intermezzo Ratings and Reviews
Food is decent and in a good location. Would have loved to go back before we were slapped with a mandatory 18% gratuity fee for 2 people for using a gift certificate. Would have given it regardless but did not like having it automatically included without consent.
They clearly didn't have enough staff working for a busy Valentine's Day. Service was non existent. Literally had to lean into the aisle to get the attention of a server. Food was OK. They raised all their prices by several dollars tonight.
I remember why I haven't been here in years.
Typical mid-town italian, with a few issues: Staff was pleasant but somewhat detached and harried. Music often inappropriate to the atmosphere, and TV at the bar playing sit-coms or comedy movies was an un-needed distraction to a quiet meal. Food itself was rather bland - tried two soups, a ceasar, and a polent dish. Could have been an off night, but nothing worth a rating above 'Fair'.
The food was ok at best. The restaurant is setup nicely and the ambience was spot on. The drinks seemed watered down with stale fruit (sangria). The bread was tough. Caprese salad was enjoyable. The chicken valdostana was decent but the spinach that was part of the dish was watery which left the chicken soggy.
Generally ok but nothing special. Close to theater. Downside was I asked our waiter about prix fix dinner and was told it was not available on Friday night. Went back day after to their website and clear as day it is avaiable up to 7pm. Our reservation was at 6pm. Not sure if waiter did not know this or just encouraged not to offer it. Prix fix menu was not presented to us. So please get your story right and if not available on Fridays, update your website.
