Dined here multiple times and it has always been incredible. Try the Manhattan! I rarely order dessert, but do here.
The food was so just so bland. Each person order something different at the table, however; everything looked the same when it arrived. There was just nothing special about any dish. The cookies for dessert were good.
The food couldn’t have been any better. There are no condiments on the table, and none are needed. The service was impeccable. I had the filet of beef, and my husband had the seared salmon. For dessert, I ordered the chocolate cake with raspberry filling. It was in the top five desserts I’ve ever had.
The service and food were great!
Food was good. Avoid oysters. They still don’t know how to fry, waitress was outstanding. New chef came by and said hello. Will continue to improve under his guidance
Place came highly recommended.
We will and have paid good money for a great experience and great food all over the world.
This time - this visit - they missed the mark... and it was our 1st and last visit. Our waiter was very good but he cannot over come how underwhelmed we were with the food itself ... start to finish.
Sadly, the soup was the best part of our meal.
We get to Memphis about twice a quarter. we will not be returning. It was not worth the price we paid for the food we got.
Zach is always friendly. He went the extra mile for us. The food is a lot better than it has been :) and we were happy to come back using our 2 yr+ gift card. Thank you for the changes you made, we could tell.
Today’s brunch visit at Interim was great overall. The chicken fried steak with gravy and collard greens was tasty. The service was friendly and efficient. Lastly, it is always a cool restaurant to dine if you want to watch an open kitchen that is run like clockwork.
While I had been here before, it was the first time for my husband. Service was great. Our entrees were just the right size and they accommodated my need for no potatoes and just included more vegetables. My husband tried the cioppino and was pleasantly surprised. Coming from the San Francisco area where cioppino is outstanding, that's saying something. He said he would definitely get it again. We topped the night off with carrot cake which melted in your mouth. My only complaint was the tables are close together and the table next to us was extremely loud so it was hard to carry on a conversation. We will be back.
Excellent quality and service!!!!!
We have been devoted customers of Interim for 17 years, ever since it originally opened as Wally Joe's. The consistency of this restaurant is what keeps returning again and again. This dining experience is elegant, simple, beautiful, and not fussy in any way. The service is impeccable and attentive without ever being intrusive. The food is beautifully and artistically presented on crisp, white dinnerware. The cocktail and wine selections are ample and interesting. And for us the extra treat is the open kitchen concept, where we can see appetizers, salads, fish, beef, pork and chicken, and even the over-the-top desserts being expertly prepared. Indeed, Interim is our favorite restaurant in Memphis.
Used to be one of my favorite restaurants but this was a terrible dining experience. Yes, it’s Valentine’s Day, but seating was poorly arranged, service was ridiculously slow , staff was rude, and food had to be sent back only to come back wrong again.
My husband's salmon was overcooked, but overall the food was really good! We liked the open kitchen concept - what fun!
Wife’s food was not well seasoned she had veal and couscous which was pasty, my filet which was medium well was charred on the outside heavily and was not cooked and not seasoned well. Manager try to say that it was the proper temperature, but I would not have received that anywhere else.
Our 2 kids had burgers that were good and the meal was over 200 dollars. We did have the valentines pre fixed menu and the lobster bisque and desert was good but only received one dessert for two 60 dollar prefixed meals...should have gone to Ruth chris or a chain if I was spending that much.
My wife and I went in for an early Valentine's dinner and we were totally blown away. All these years its been there and we hadn't been. I could slap myself for that. The waitress was great and shared a lot of great information about the food and wine with us. They have a great bottle of Amarone there and it was very reasonable. We will be back for sure!
Interim, old standby favorite, until...Seated promptly. Discussed appetizer...fried oysters. Still thinking about entree and wine. Oysters arrive....hmmm, no wine selected, timing not good. Oysters on previous occasions were exceptional. This time, just average. Batter was much heavier. Entrees ordered, salmon with potatoes and asparagus and cioppino. Bread was delightful. White wine was brought to the table. An ice container would have been nice for the bottle. The potatoes were boiled and sliced...void of seasoning..any. Salmon, approached a poach. No sear, no smoke flavor, no seasoning. Nursing home bland. The cioppino is a fish stew with a ton of interpretation. This one had a tomato base with some depth of flavor. The prawn on top was not cooked. Sent it back. The second prawn was over done. The mussels, the only other seafood in the stew, were mostly over cooked. I was not expecting a Tadich (San Francisco) level...but oysters, clam, fish pieces, shrimp, crab...in this sauce would constitute a stew. The carrot cake by Chef Oysel, I think, was outstanding. The service was good and polite.
I understand there is new ownership. For the price in this City it just missed the mark by a wide margin versus numerous previous visits.
Early birthday lunch with friends. We had a great time, but the food wasn’t as good as other times I’ve been there.
We had a wonderful time! Chef Buchanan did a fabulous job! The service was wonderful and the desserts were amazing!
We were so pleased with our experience at Interim on this visit. We are regulars at this restaurant. They recently went through a chef change. We didn't have the greatest experience in our visit during the transition. But the new chef is in place now and the experience at Interim was wonderful. I believe the new chef is Jordan Buchanan. He visited the table and introduced himself. He was active in the kitchen working with the staff. Morale seemed good and the service was fantastic. So thankful Interim will remain a date night favorite.
Our favorite meal in Memphis because of the menu selection choices, freshest ingredients, flavors are spot on and the service is excellent.
Food was terrible
The triggerfish was excellent. Great waiter Bud.
Lunch was outstanding. It was appetizing and entertaining to watch the flow of the calmly paced but busy impeccable kitchen. But the real treat was dessert. Interim has their own executive dessert chef who works on display. Our chocolate cake and gelato was anything but as simple as it sounds. The presentation was pure elegance and careful creativity. This dessert turned an ordinary lunch date into a special occasion we won't forget. Thank you, Interim chefs, for viewing your work like it's an art you enjoy.
Took a friend for her birthday dinner. Lots of birthdays being celebrated that night. Barbara was our delightful and knowledgeable server. She’s excellent. We lingered over a fabulous meal and never felt rushed. Interim is a hidden jewel.
Excellent dinner with excellent attentive customer service.
Don't miss dessert by pastry chef Franck. The selection is always great and the desserts are the best in town.
As always, predictably delicious.
Pleasant, attentive service.
Solid neighborhood gem.
Delightful evening as usual. Our server, Joe, was attentive, but friendly. A variety of dishes were ordered and each got a thumbs up. We paricularly like sitting close to the open kitchen to watch all the activity. It is like watching an orchestra.
Great service...very knowledgeable waiter, mediocre food for the price, way too loud to enjoy dinner.
Unfortunately, we caught Interim on the week that the chef left. The food was just okay although one of our party said his steak was excellent. The 6 of us ordered 6 different entrees. The restaurant was also out of 3 choices for one of our party for his cocktail. I'm sure they're just going through a rough transition. Others have eaten business lunch there and said it was okay. It was just not outstanding for the cost.
Sarah was a great server. Very personable and right on time. We had steak and eggs, Belgian waffle and the American breakfast. All were pleased with their meals.
Always fantastic! Every time I am there I forget how much I love it so return soon afterwards. I was there for brunch on Sunday so now returning for a business lunch on Wednesday.
Love that the kitchen is in plain view and sparkling clean. The portions are not over the top. Pork loin, salmon entrees were 5-Star. As were the fried oysters and cheese plate appetizers. Polite and professional service. Difficult to find a flaw.
Sent rack of lamb back twice because of under cooked. Waiter took off check. But not an enjoyable evening
Interim has been our favorite date night restaurant for years. Great atmosphere, open kitchen, great food, great wait staff.
I did not realize that Chef Dave Krog had left... but the impact was dramatic and negative. Almost all of the wait staff we knew were gone as well. Food quality (presentation and taste) were definitely off compared to normal.
My hope is that the new ownership can get it back on track, but this was a very disappointing experience. Interim went through a bad patch a few years ago and Chef Dave was able to revive it to its former glory, and beyond.
My wife and I are so saddened... I'll likely give it 1 more try... but without significant improvement Interim will move from 1st to worst in East Memphis dining. So sad.
I have eaten here before and each time they never disappoint. My date loved the food and could not stop talking about how good the Caesar salad with chicken added in was. She was amazed by the chickens texture and flavor. Overall this was definitely worth the money.
This restaurant is always wonderful. We like the changing menu
and the service is about the best in the city. We had a fabulous,
engaging waiter, Bud. He made great menu suggestions and
seemed very genuine. Can't wait to come back!
Our family dinner on this particular evening was very good but still prefer this restaurant for lunch / brunch overall. The beet salads and soup of the day (French onion / potato soup combo) were all great. As far as main courses, several ordered, including myself, the pasta special that consisted of braised beef and a light cream sauce. Everyone commented it was good but somewhat limited, especially for the price. One member ordered the fish of the day and commented it was dry and extremely small. Although not on the dinner menu, my father was allowed to order the Interim burger. As is the story with every visit, I and several others wished we had done the same. I think Interim has the best gourmet hamburger in the city, but brings back the fact it can be enjoyed at lunch or Sunday brunch. Lastly, great kudos to our server who was friendly and professional and never let s drink get empty. Overall, it was a nice dinner but prefer this restaurant and the Interim burger during lunch and brunch.
Dinner was excellent as always. Our Server Bud, presented the evening specials. Rack of Lamb for me and Wild Salmon for the wife. Everything was perfect.
Franck's Honey Cake finished the evening.
