Interim Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Small but unique menu. Started with the beef carpaccio. It was a little to chilled and could have used a little salt for my taste but the quality of the meat was good. I had a cupl of tomato soup. Best tomato soup I have ever had. The wife ordered the duck. I was a little underwhelmed with this dish. Not much flavor and the beans served with them were undercooked. She stated as really enjoyed it so it could have just been me. I had the pork loin dish. This is by far the best pork dish I have ever eaten at a restaurant. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. It came with snow pea, mushrooms and a fried rice ball. This dish is amazing and perfect. We had a chocolate dessert and a few cocktails. There are so many great places in this area and you can add this one to that list.
Our meal was great, as well as the service. I made the reservation on Open Table which requested a table in the bar. I did not request that and they had to scramble to get us a table in the restaurant t proper. I’ll now know to say where I want to sit, which I shouldn’t have to do.
Two of my friends took me to lunch for my birthday. We had an early reservation (11:30am) to beat the crowd which we did but still did not receive our food until after persons coming in after us. The waitress did give one of our party a no-charge on her food as she was the last to receive her food which was a grilled chicken sandwich. The food was very good but the portions were small relative to the price. I also like a tea to go to sip on during my afternoon at work and had to use a coffee cup. Please buy some larger to-go cups.
Lovely meal. I had the pork tenderloin with a house-made applesauce garnish and a delicious risotto ball. I had never actually had a risotto ball before and wow was it good. They custom cooked my 8yr old daughter some salmon the way she likes it, which was much appreciated. It was my birthday and Chef Franck served me a gorgeous dessert I will include a picture of. The wait staff was outstanding.
Overall a very nice meal with very good service. The duck was excellent as were the meatball appetizer. Nice wine selection. The only negative was a very bad cocktail "Hendricks 75". It was either made with very cheap or flat champagne. I sent it back after tasting it but they did not take it off the bill.
This is our comfort restaurant. We usually sit at a table in the bar area...bartenders and staff are very friendly. This time we had the fish special which was tuna. Cooked just right! Also the rack of lamb was excellent. We ordered a side of greens that are to die for.
The fish special was out of this world. I've eaten all over and I've never had a dish like that. It was delicately bursting with carefully placed spots of bright color from snow peas, yellow pepper, red cabbage, pineapple... the rice was hiding a soft bed of savory red curry. The fish was perfectly cooked. It was warm but bright! There's more to it but I cant describe it and do it justice. It was the best meal I've had in months. I was really impressed & cant wait to go back order another fish special.
A noticeable negative experience since the ownership change a month ago. Service was a big step down (to be frank, servers look road hard and put away wet; picked up the tip while we were still at the table). Worst black bean burger ever. Presentation of the mac & cheese was dismal. Brought out a salad with no dressing on it or on-the-side. What the heck is going on here?
Everything was good, however, we were a party of two and we were seated next to another party of two who were seated next to a party of two, even though the restaurant was not full and there were plenty of two tables. So the noise level was a little high and for some reason all of the waitstaff spoke in a very loud tone.
Our waiter Bud was truly an expert. He knew the menu inside and out. His recommendations were wonderful. He even explain to us how the French press worked. One of my friends had coffee and it was made with a French press and he explained it in detail. The desserts were wonderful I had the vegetable plate and normally vegetable plates are boring or standard fare but the cauliflower was so delicious. The potato and leek soup was velvety smooth. We sampled burgers, fish, potato soup and we were NOT DISAPPOINTED. By the way Bud they do have the best fries. The executive chef David Krog came to our table and spent time conversing with us. I love Erling Jensen but I'm adding another favorite to my list - Interim. Great service, delicious food!
Interim Restaurant serves one of the best brunches in the Memphis area. On this particular visit, the waffle of the day was carrot cake with butterscotch and was good as well as the chicken fried steak entree. They still have the best gourmet hamburger in the Memphis area as well. I look forward to the next visit whether it is for brunch or dinner.
It is obvious this restaurant is very customer focused and wants to create a fabulous dining experience. The food is equally as good. We had the cheese board, a salad and the tenderloin. All expertly prepared and amazing. The only down-side to our experience was that the restaurant is somewhat noisy. While that was somewhat of a detractor it did not ruin our dining experience. I would definitely recommend this restaurant!
I took my daughter to brunch on Sunday because she was good at school all week. They have an amazing waffle of the week that is great for kids. Last week it was smores and this week it was banana split. It was a sight to behold. All the chefs there are so nice to us. I have the huevos rancheros and it was amazing! The biscuits were perfect. The fruit cuts & plating was a work of art in itself. Even though it's upscale it is also a great family place. They remember us and really make us feel welcome.
Sunday brunch was great! The waffle of the day was quite creative with the "smores" design with marshmallows and graham cracker crumbles. The current brunch menu as a whole is my favorite since coming for Sunday brunch. Lastly, the service and ambience are always nice.
We visited on a Sunday afternoon. We had reservations and were seated immediately upon arriving. Our server was great and very efficient.
We order the Mac & cheese for an appetizer, it was so delicious but was a bit expensive. It did serve 2 people.
We also ordered the shrimp and grits, the shrimp was so fresh tasting, but there was too much tomato "gravy" poured over the shrimp and grits and it really took away from the taste of the dish.
We also ordered country fried steak, and the meat was from Claybrook Farms. It had a lot of gristle and was very chewy. The gravy covering the meat had too much sour cream and also disguised the taste of the meat, what little we ate of that. The collards were delicious.
We will go back but will order other entrees next time.
Another outstanding brunch visit to Interim! The Interim burger is my personal favorite gourmet style burger in the Memphis area, and the new additions to the brunch menu, especially the waffle of the day and chicken fried steak, are delicious. The entire staff is friendly with good service. This is definitely one of my favorite Sunday brunch locations!
My husband and I went for Brunch. We have been to the restaurant many times for dinner, but never have tried the Brunch. it was very good. Lots of choices - from your egg dish to a good old hamburger. Something for everyone. And they have a great deal on their Mimosas - $20.00 for a bottle of champagne and carafe of OJ.
This particular brunch visit to Interim was outstanding! The menu had just been changed in the past couple of weeks and was a pleasant surprise. The new chicken fried steak and biscuits with white gravy tasted excellent. Also, I tried my mom's waffle of the day which was a chocolate waffle with peanut butter cream and it was awesome as well. Lastly, the service and presentation were great as always. I will definitely return, especially for brunch, in the near future.
