Interim Restaurant & Bar Ratings and Reviews
Interim has been our favorite date night restaurant for years. Great atmosphere, open kitchen, great food, great wait staff.
I did not realize that Chef Dave Krog had left... but the impact was dramatic and negative. Almost all of the wait staff we knew were gone as well. Food quality (presentation and taste) were definitely off compared to normal.
My hope is that the new ownership can get it back on track, but this was a very disappointing experience. Interim went through a bad patch a few years ago and Chef Dave was able to revive it to its former glory, and beyond.
My wife and I are so saddened... I'll likely give it 1 more try... but without significant improvement Interim will move from 1st to worst in East Memphis dining. So sad.
I have eaten here before and each time they never disappoint. My date loved the food and could not stop talking about how good the Caesar salad with chicken added in was. She was amazed by the chickens texture and flavor. Overall this was definitely worth the money.
Our family dinner on this particular evening was very good but still prefer this restaurant for lunch / brunch overall. The beet salads and soup of the day (French onion / potato soup combo) were all great. As far as main courses, several ordered, including myself, the pasta special that consisted of braised beef and a light cream sauce. Everyone commented it was good but somewhat limited, especially for the price. One member ordered the fish of the day and commented it was dry and extremely small. Although not on the dinner menu, my father was allowed to order the Interim burger. As is the story with every visit, I and several others wished we had done the same. I think Interim has the best gourmet hamburger in the city, but brings back the fact it can be enjoyed at lunch or Sunday brunch. Lastly, great kudos to our server who was friendly and professional and never let s drink get empty. Overall, it was a nice dinner but prefer this restaurant and the Interim burger during lunch and brunch.
Was overall pleased with the experience and meal, the ambience was what was disappointing, the whole restaurant seemed to have one lighting from bar to kitchen to dining room, and just felt it needed to somehow given a more elegant feeling to the dining room.
My 92 yr mom wanted to go out for a nice dinner. We took her to Interim. It is a relaxing place. Good for watching the chefs prepare dinner and some nice small dishes not to overwhelm her. She had the Quail. I had the fish of the night which was grouper. Really done perfect. They are charging for the bread now. Rolls not sliced bread. It’s OK But we prefer a whole grain sliced bread
I had the pork belly for appetizer and it was unbelievable for entree my wife had the chicken and I had the rack of lamb they both were out of this world!!! The chief David came out to are table to introduce himself and check on the food which was very cool!!
Small but unique menu. Started with the beef carpaccio. It was a little to chilled and could have used a little salt for my taste but the quality of the meat was good. I had a cupl of tomato soup. Best tomato soup I have ever had. The wife ordered the duck. I was a little underwhelmed with this dish. Not much flavor and the beans served with them were undercooked. She stated as really enjoyed it so it could have just been me. I had the pork loin dish. This is by far the best pork dish I have ever eaten at a restaurant. Perfectly cooked and seasoned. It came with snow pea, mushrooms and a fried rice ball. This dish is amazing and perfect. We had a chocolate dessert and a few cocktails. There are so many great places in this area and you can add this one to that list.
Our meal was great, as well as the service. I made the reservation on Open Table which requested a table in the bar. I did not request that and they had to scramble to get us a table in the restaurant t proper. I’ll now know to say where I want to sit, which I shouldn’t have to do.
Two of my friends took me to lunch for my birthday. We had an early reservation (11:30am) to beat the crowd which we did but still did not receive our food until after persons coming in after us. The waitress did give one of our party a no-charge on her food as she was the last to receive her food which was a grilled chicken sandwich. The food was very good but the portions were small relative to the price. I also like a tea to go to sip on during my afternoon at work and had to use a coffee cup. Please buy some larger to-go cups.
Lovely meal. I had the pork tenderloin with a house-made applesauce garnish and a delicious risotto ball. I had never actually had a risotto ball before and wow was it good. They custom cooked my 8yr old daughter some salmon the way she likes it, which was much appreciated. It was my birthday and Chef Franck served me a gorgeous dessert I will include a picture of. The wait staff was outstanding.
Overall a very nice meal with very good service. The duck was excellent as were the meatball appetizer. Nice wine selection. The only negative was a very bad cocktail "Hendricks 75". It was either made with very cheap or flat champagne. I sent it back after tasting it but they did not take it off the bill.
This is our comfort restaurant. We usually sit at a table in the bar area...bartenders and staff are very friendly. This time we had the fish special which was tuna. Cooked just right! Also the rack of lamb was excellent. We ordered a side of greens that are to die for.
The fish special was out of this world. I've eaten all over and I've never had a dish like that. It was delicately bursting with carefully placed spots of bright color from snow peas, yellow pepper, red cabbage, pineapple... the rice was hiding a soft bed of savory red curry. The fish was perfectly cooked. It was warm but bright! There's more to it but I cant describe it and do it justice. It was the best meal I've had in months. I was really impressed & cant wait to go back order another fish special.
A noticeable negative experience since the ownership change a month ago. Service was a big step down (to be frank, servers look road hard and put away wet; picked up the tip while we were still at the table). Worst black bean burger ever. Presentation of the mac & cheese was dismal. Brought out a salad with no dressing on it or on-the-side. What the heck is going on here?
Everything was good, however, we were a party of two and we were seated next to another party of two who were seated next to a party of two, even though the restaurant was not full and there were plenty of two tables. So the noise level was a little high and for some reason all of the waitstaff spoke in a very loud tone.
Our waiter Bud was truly an expert. He knew the menu inside and out. His recommendations were wonderful. He even explain to us how the French press worked. One of my friends had coffee and it was made with a French press and he explained it in detail. The desserts were wonderful I had the vegetable plate and normally vegetable plates are boring or standard fare but the cauliflower was so delicious. The potato and leek soup was velvety smooth. We sampled burgers, fish, potato soup and we were NOT DISAPPOINTED. By the way Bud they do have the best fries. The executive chef David Krog came to our table and spent time conversing with us. I love Erling Jensen but I'm adding another favorite to my list - Interim. Great service, delicious food!
