Lunch menu okay...dinner menu too retricted. Used a gift card and they totally couldn't tell me what was the value or how much the meal was until we used it....weird system. Would go for linch but nevere dinner again.
Insalata's is one of my favorite Marin restaurants. The Mediterranean cuisine is creative, flavorful and seasonal. It's always been a good experience whether for lunch, brunch or dinner. My go-to dishes are fish, lamb and salmon salad. My friends enjoyed the food but were disappointed with the very limited selection of beer.
Love this place......................................
Food and professional, friendly service are consistently great. Only wish the wine list (especially Chardonnay) matched the otherwise wonderful experience of dining here.
My favorite restaurant in Marin - always delicious, with excellent service.
The food never disappoints. We always love the trio of dips, fattoush, and salmon. Out of this world.
I love their Fattoush salad for brunch, it's just so hard to slap down 17 bucks for a portion of a head of romaine lettuce, though the accompaniments are primo, such as olives and cherry tomatoes. The Eggs Benedict is a winner for brunch, as is the burger. Speciality sandwiches is where they fail, such as a Cod Burger which was all bun, with a bit of fish and a whisper of cole slaw. I want to love everything about this restaurant, but some things are just a bit ho hum.
Excellent food, service and ambiance!
Good food, but I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 because the crab pasta tasted good, but was too oily and not enough crab.
Food and people are amazing.
The layout is really bad: people jammed at door, breeze hits the bar every time.
Flow needs work if it is to have a better "buzz".
But the newish chef is great!
We had not been to Insalatas in a couple of years- which is a shame because we have never had anything other than a great meal.
We were there this time for a birthday dinner, but Insalatas is a lovely place with delicious food and attentive but not intrusive wait staff. We won’t let so much time pass before our next visit.
Friendly staff and very good food, but it seems just too expensive to go there very often. Too bad!
There were some specials and new dishes on the menu that we haven’t had before. Specifically an appetizer of salmon on flatbread that was particularly flavorful and a touch spicy and cannelloni with short ribs. We also enjoyed the dips and the duck. Overall a very tasty dinner with outstanding service.
Very nice atmosphere and delicious food. Highly recommend.
New menu is less satisfying than the long-standing menu that preceded it and had occasional appealingl changes. The pasta dishes do too much and work less well. The homemade pasta in my dish was dense--not al dente, just dense. The fennel sausage in the dish was overcooked, and the stroganoff-type sauce was just one too many heavy ideas in a recipe. There is no longer a classic or classic-interpreted dish. They still offer the best soups in town, and some lovely salads and appetizers.
Excellent!! All around thoroughly enjoyable evening with fabulous food!
While the restaurant continues to have good food and service, I was annoyed that we were charge an extra dollar for more pita bread to go with the trio appetizer. Considering that the prices are not low, this seemed a petty charge since they clearly don't give you enough bread to start. Things like this are a turn off!
Delicious, again. Asparagus salad, salmon entree, steak entree, and bucatini entree, all excellent. Flavors fresh and lingering, large enough portions. Only issue this time was that service was a little off: one person did not receive their appetizer (it was placed in front of them and then whisked away, as if it were a mistake) and when the busy waiter glanced at the table 10 minutes later, he fixed the problem. In general, he was extremely busy and we're not sure why. The restaurant seemed filled but not overflowing. It was a Saturday night. Maybe staff was a little light. This may be a Bay Area problem in general.
After having an extensive discussion with our server about how I wanted my steak cooked (pink, and no raw meat), it took a long time to come, and when it arrived it was rare. Sent it back, so my wife and I ate our dinners separately as hers was getting cold. No excuse for that. Also, a minor point, but nobody filled our water glasses the entire time.
Consistently the best restaurant in Marin -- food, service, ambience -- Insalata's excels at all!
Delicious food, great service (thank you, Brian), friendly, lively and yet you can hear each other.
We went on Valentine's Day and they only had a special 3-course menu. I got the mushroom soup and it was so yummy that I wanted to lick the bowl. For entree I got the short ribs with polenta. It was a bit dry and could have used a little gravy with it. I loved the red velvet profiteroles for dessert. It was very unusual but so delicious. My husband got the beet salad, salmon, and lemon tart which he really enjoyed. We've been here several times and have always been very happy with the food.
Everything was amazing ~ Valentines menu was fabulous!
Excellent appetizer and entree but dessert was a major disappointment
Valentine’s Day is all about dessert. Warm chocolate, decadent mouthwatering tortes and they were nowhere to be found
dry over baked profiteroles and a watery lemon tart simply do not do justice to a perfect duck breast entree
Sorry but the pastry did not meet expectations and certainly did not provide the quality one would expect at this price point
Not a perfect ending to an otherwise outstanding experience
Our favorite restaurant!
Always a treat...care and creativity, neighborhood atmosphere.
Excellent as usual, very relaxing and comfortable
It was such a busy evening that we had more than 1 spot with food and drink, so I am not remembering which menu selections we enjoyed, but we did enjoy Insalata's, and have been there before, and will go again.
I always love Insalatas. The food is unfailing superb. On this particular day, though, the service was painfully slow. Someone must have called in sick that day as the one server was overworked.
Menu has good variety. Very good preparations and flavors. Service on every occasion has been outstanding. Relaxed atmosphere and a go to place.
Inventive menu, delicious food and great wine choices!!!
Another outstanding meal.
Excellent management staff.
Always a good choice. This place works!
Service and food were amazing as always.
Excellent food, we have been at Insalata's at least 10 times and the food and service are always excellent. I am vegetarian, my friends are not and we all found interesting and tasty choices in the menus.
Food was excellent, as was the service. Insalata’s is an easy place to enjoy a good meal. Only caution is to make sure you ask about specific ingredients if you have allergies. Not all the ingredients are listed on the menu.
We love Insalata and dine there at least once a month. The food and service are always exceptional and the warm atmosphere and delicious smells make each visit special. Our company has holiday dinners there and lunch meetings. I can always count on the experience - exceptional and very, very special.
Decided to try Brunch since we have only had dinner. We loved the specialty drinks but were thought they were pretty expensive $12-13.
My entree of Grilled Lamb Tenderloin on Flatbread was skimpy on the 2 lamb kabobs and
mostly lettuce. Was disappointed with this choice but others had the Smoked Pork Loin Eggs Benedict, Corned Beef Hash and Middle Eastern Inspired Vegetarian Platter which they said were great!!
Dessert of Ginger Apple Cake and Sorbets were equally delicious.
Insalata is my go-to for consistently good quality food & service. I felt extra special when the hostess addressed me by my name and on the following weekend, I was warmly greeted by my waiter at the Farmer's Market. How nice is that???
Our server was awesome!! The food was amazing.
