Very nice atmosphere and delicious food. Highly recommend.
New menu is less satisfying than the long-standing menu that preceded it and had occasional appealingl changes. The pasta dishes do too much and work less well. The homemade pasta in my dish was dense--not al dente, just dense. The fennel sausage in the dish was overcooked, and the stroganoff-type sauce was just one too many heavy ideas in a recipe. There is no longer a classic or classic-interpreted dish. They still offer the best soups in town, and some lovely salads and appetizers.
Excellent!! All around thoroughly enjoyable evening with fabulous food!
While the restaurant continues to have good food and service, I was annoyed that we were charge an extra dollar for more pita bread to go with the trio appetizer. Considering that the prices are not low, this seemed a petty charge since they clearly don't give you enough bread to start. Things like this are a turn off!
Delicious, again. Asparagus salad, salmon entree, steak entree, and bucatini entree, all excellent. Flavors fresh and lingering, large enough portions. Only issue this time was that service was a little off: one person did not receive their appetizer (it was placed in front of them and then whisked away, as if it were a mistake) and when the busy waiter glanced at the table 10 minutes later, he fixed the problem. In general, he was extremely busy and we're not sure why. The restaurant seemed filled but not overflowing. It was a Saturday night. Maybe staff was a little light. This may be a Bay Area problem in general.
After having an extensive discussion with our server about how I wanted my steak cooked (pink, and no raw meat), it took a long time to come, and when it arrived it was rare. Sent it back, so my wife and I ate our dinners separately as hers was getting cold. No excuse for that. Also, a minor point, but nobody filled our water glasses the entire time.
Consistently the best restaurant in Marin -- food, service, ambience -- Insalata's excels at all!
Delicious food, great service (thank you, Brian), friendly, lively and yet you can hear each other.
We went on Valentine's Day and they only had a special 3-course menu. I got the mushroom soup and it was so yummy that I wanted to lick the bowl. For entree I got the short ribs with polenta. It was a bit dry and could have used a little gravy with it. I loved the red velvet profiteroles for dessert. It was very unusual but so delicious. My husband got the beet salad, salmon, and lemon tart which he really enjoyed. We've been here several times and have always been very happy with the food.
Everything was amazing ~ Valentines menu was fabulous!
Excellent appetizer and entree but dessert was a major disappointment
Valentine’s Day is all about dessert. Warm chocolate, decadent mouthwatering tortes and they were nowhere to be found
dry over baked profiteroles and a watery lemon tart simply do not do justice to a perfect duck breast entree
Sorry but the pastry did not meet expectations and certainly did not provide the quality one would expect at this price point
Not a perfect ending to an otherwise outstanding experience
Our favorite restaurant!
Always a treat...care and creativity, neighborhood atmosphere.
Excellent as usual, very relaxing and comfortable
It was such a busy evening that we had more than 1 spot with food and drink, so I am not remembering which menu selections we enjoyed, but we did enjoy Insalata's, and have been there before, and will go again.
