Insalata's Ratings and Reviews
Our favorite go-to restaurant with a great take-out counter also. Consistently good, healthful food, great staff. The only reason I didn't give the food 5 stars this time is that my lamb shank, though the taste was good, was dry. Its accoutrements however were delicious and the friends I bring here from time to time mentioned that the food at Insalata's is consistently very good. They are foodies so that's a compliment!
Excellent meal ~ duck, special mozzarella/citrus appetizer was wonderful! We also had steak, which was quite good. Wines by the glass are a bit expensive ~ $19 for a Chardonnay, but pours were good. Takeout options are always good, especially the yogurt-marinated chicken. Very nice waitress too!
Group of 6 on busy night, seated at worst table despite request via phone conversation and confirmation to sit mezzanine which is more comfortable and better acoustics. Food is consistently excellent. Service can be spotty and was extremely slow on this night, but food was saved as brought out hot by kitchen staff. Great menu and always delicious. It seemed to have been understaffed on our night.
the best food around...one of our favorites...the food is creative and seasonally changes depending on what is available in the produce section or farmers market. Lets say you want Salmon... they usually always have it, but the preparation will vary...and is always thoughtful and delicious!
The food here is some of the best in the area. Always fresh and changing. The waiter was distracted with a larger party and wasn’t as attentive as they are typically. But overall the meal , seabass tangine , was outstanding.
When our main dishes arrived they were only warm instead of being hot. Our server readily took them away and returned them at the correct temperature, and they were as delicious as anticipated. I expect that they had been standing in the serving area for some time due to the number of people being served. This was an isolated incident in the number of times we have visited, and the menu continues to be adventurous and tasty.
Service was horrible; 15 minutes before waitress came and took order; asked for bread and drinks and never brought; had to ask other staff for assistance. Waitress never checked on our table; there were 4 of us ding and my order came 7 minutes after the others. Also one salad not properly prepared.
Celebrated my birthday and it was wonderful as always. We started with two appetizers which we shared and we highly recommend- the Cataplana and the Crispy Herb Falafel. We all ordered different entrees. I had the Waygu Steak which was cooked to perfection. My husband ordered the Lamb Shank which was tender and delicious. My daughter enjoyed the Glazed Duck Breast. My son ordered the Casareccia pasta dish which he didn't like as much as he expected. We had three desserts which were all fantastic. We had the Pear Galette, the Sorbet Twosome and the Cassis Cremeaux. The wait staff was attentive and we were to chat comfortably while sitting at our booth.
We chose Insalata's to get together with a friend coming from Oakland. It was the perfect meeting spot since we're in Santa Rosa. The food on the brunch menu was yummy. Also minimal traffic on a Sunday afternoon. Their pear scone was to die for so don't pass it up. Enjoyed eggs benedict and variations thereof. Good any time.
I ordered the fattoush salad; which I have had in the past and enjoyed. This time the salad was smaller, very oily and salty. The pita chips were the size of tortilla chips instead of bite sized pieces. Seemed thrown together without much thought. We were seated directly in front of the kitchen which was noisy and cold due to people continuously opening the side door to come and go. I would definitely avoid this table!
I went there for a Thanksgiving pre-fix menu with a friend, after researching to find the best menu in Marin for the holiday. The food was absolutely wonderful! The service was excellent and we were not rushed on this special day. Started off with assorted breads and appetizer samples. My friend had a tasty salad and the butternut squash and pear soup was yummy. The turkey dinner was perfect, with four delicious sides and the pumpkin chiffon pie a fitting ending. My friend had the salmon dinner and raved. The wine by the glass selection had a lot of variety, great for the various courses. All in all a great time!
Our lunch group of 5 enjoyed ourselves. The mista salad was excellent, including the salmon add-on. Black pepper papperdelle with duck was milder than I expected, but tasty. Mediterranean Mezze was interesting and enjoyable. Wine list is interesting. A good place to go back to.
