Our goal at Insalata's has always been to bring luscious Mediterranean food, gracious service and a warm atmosphere to our diners. For over 20 years we have shared this experience of intimate dining and joyful celebrations in a variety of ways. First and foremost as a fine dining restaurant with our beautiful private Siena room in which to sit and relax and enjoy a meal. We also offer take out dining for those days when time is of the essence, or catered affairs where we bring great food and staff into your home or venue. Our guests have become family and we have grown together in the community in which we all live and work. Everyone at Insalata's is extremely proud to be a part of this extended "village" family.
I look forward to coming back here in the future.
The food, usually fantastic, just wasn’t up to par. The salmon was over cooked, and the pork wasn’t great.
Having just dined with a friend a week earlier at Insalata’s and being very happy with the meal, service, atmosphere etc. I wanted to return for my birthday dinner with my husband. We were not disappointed in any way. Can’t wait to come back again. Such a wonderful explosion of flavors!
Attentive service and superb food. We have been here before but not for many years. It seems very much the same but not at all dated.
I usually enjoy the food and service here, however, this past Saturday night was a disappointment.
The service was very slow, we ordered a bottle of wine and had to wait at least 15 minutes for the wine to arrive, ditto for the second. Our server was pleasant but her timing was off. In addition, my salmon dish entree came out barely warm. We will try again, hope it was just a one off bad night.
Last night was my birthday dinner and it was fabulous!! The two starters, a whole roasted eggplant with interesting spices and then the fig and cantaloupe salad, were so lovely and the flavors paired so amazingly well. Our entrees were halibut which was light and flaky with a perfect sauce that didn’t take over the delicate halibut. The scallops were done to perfection
and so tender and still full of the juice of the sea. The blackberry tart was simply a delicious end to a very special meal. Our server Sharon from Manchester did an excellent
job ensuring our meal was a real celebration!
Food makes us want to go back. Too bad about the service.
Would love it if the bar opened at 5:00, so when we get there a little early, there'd be something to sip!!
Meal was great - thank you!
Best food in Marin.
Insalata's is a Marin classic. The food is always exceptional. We often have business lunches here for the ambiance, the quiet and relaxed atmosphere and the skilled servers who always seem to have impeccable timing.
Great lunch at Insalata’s. Perfect place for great food and conversation. You can hear your dining companions. What a thought.
I hadn't been back to Insalata’s for several years and was delighted with the entire experience! Delicious food (we selected all appetizers) and wand, perfect service, comfortable noise level for talking. Can't wait to return!
Yes, would generally recommend, BUT, there were a few issues. 2 dishes arrived that weren't ours, they seemed very confused that evening, don't know why - it wasn't very busy. I used to go here years ago and they offered some bread or focaccia with 3 small dips, that was a nice touch. That's gone. Really missed that.
I had a lot of hummus leftover to take home. Instead of just giving me a few extra pieces of pita bread to go with it, we were charged $1 for a side order. Really? My friend didn't get her grilled eggplant appetizer for 40 minutes after we started eating. Thought maybe they would give a discount on that considering she was almost done eating. But, no.
Not rushing back. It's a nice space, though. Food is good.
We've been going to Insalata's more frequently in the last few months, and every time we've been wowed by the food and service. Such great and interesting food choices and our last server, Richard, was very helpful and engaging.
Insalata's is our favorite Marin restaurant, to go by ourselves or to bring out of town guests. The food is always delicious, interesting, and beautiful. Favorites are: Fattoush Salad, Hummus with Green Goo, and just about any entree.
only problem was the chef was out talking to a table near us and he had an incredibly loud voice.
Oh, and my scallops weren't cooked enough. (Maybe he needed to be back in the kitchen). I brought them home to cook some more. (Was so full didn't want to complain)
Consistently best restaurant in Marin
Excellent food and excellent staff.
Horrific. My boyfriend and I love this restaurant but not this night. We watched parties of 2, 4, and 6 that were seated after us order several rounds of drinks, appetizers, main courses, dessert, pay their bill and leave before we received our appetizers. In fact, the service was so slow and horrific that we asked our server to just wrap up our main course because we were tired of waiting and didn’t really want to sit there any longer (even to eat our meal). When we got home the food was disgusting — undercooked chicken. I generally do not waste time with reviews but this was an experience I will never forgot.
The waiter didn’t even bother to offer to comp our drinks or anything. He apologized for the service but only after my boyfriend told him to wrap up our meals and not to bother with plating them.
I've never had a bad meal at Insalata's. Our most recent meal was delicious and the service was excellent, as always.
The meal was excellent but I was disappointed and quite surprised when they wouldn't let my friend and I have separate checks. Which is important when two of you order completely different items or additional items on the menu.
I've now celebrated four friends' birthdays at Insalatas. We've appreciated the range of delicious choices on the lunch menu. We've also appreciated the quiet tables that allow us to hear eachother! Never have we felt like the wait staff hurried us or were overly cloying. Great spot for a special lunch.
Beautiful food, quiet interior, friendly, and knowledgeable service
Our favorite neighborhood go-to restaurant. We feel fortunate to have such a high-quality establishment so close to our home. One of the most beautiful restaursnts with consistently great food and a great bar, great bartenders, friendly and helpful service in Marin Co. AND....the most reasonably-priced take-out bar of this calibre in our environs.
Insalata's consistently provides an excellent experience, both with food and with service.
Son visiting from Boston.
Missed the trio of spreads that use to be offered as an appetizer.
One of,, if not, my favorite restaurant in Marin. The menu, food are inspiring. All love it, vegetarians included. superb glass of rose pino.
They have European seating....not private for couples...but good 4+ diners. Every course or drink order was by a different "server"....I don't like that. The food of course was quite different and quite good. Also, I like to drink not only wine but beer. They has choices of 2 beers.
Always outstanding cuisine. Delicious flavors, savory seasonings. My favorite dining experience in Marin.
One of our favorite restaurants! My 80+ year-old parents drive from the east bay to meet me at Insalata. Great food. Impeccable service.
Our server, George (?) was fantastic! The food was divine! Thank you!
Server seemed overwhelmed
My 1st time, my partner’s 3-4th.
Pretty good for such a remote place.
Female NY-like Server was a kick.
The dishes were very unique and delicious. Overall, nice pleasant experience. Need more of this kind of venues in the city.
Always delightful. The food this particular evening was especially delicious. And we really appreciate that it's quiet enough to have an enjoyable conversation. THANKS for not pumping loud music that ruins meals! Insalata's continues to be a favorite.
Loved everything 👌❤️
This is one of the rare romantic places that you can bring a kid to. Food is memorable and service is friendly.
Love this restaurant! Food very delicious and specisl
As always, Insalata's is a wonderful place to dine...in this instance a weekday lunch. Setting, service, food are all presented at a high level. Tastes are exciting, portions are generous, and you never feel hurried. When lunch was over, I visited their take-out section and went home with dinner for that night, and even enjoyed some left-overs the following day. What can possibly be better than three consecutive meals at and from Insalata's.
