Chef John LaPosta has had a long and exciting career path which has landed him in the restaurant of his dreams. Along with his partner, Tina Kruger, he has created a wonderful American Gastropub full of great energy, fine hospitality, and of course, outstanding food.

It is his passion for excellence, beaming hospitality and tireless work that have been the hallmarks of John's 30+ years as one of the Capital Region’s most popular chefs. He is known for his outstanding food that he serves to "real" people in a fun and unassuming style. His simple philosophy has always been "put the love on plate." Had the steamed Asian pork belly taco things. They were ok, but not much to them. Asparagus salad was fine and the Rigatoni w/ sausage was tasty. Really nothing here to get too excited about. Decent food. Felt a bit rushd. Kinda'louf. Seated along a wall when we prefer a table.

Our dining experience was excellent. None of us had been to Innovo Kitchen and everyone enjoyed their meals and wine. The waiter, Gary was very good. He seems to enjoy his job and was very helpful with ordering. We will call come back for another meal.

I had the Birria Tacos. Excellent, but unfortunately only offered on Cinco de Mayo as a special. The rice and beans served with them actually had some nice flavor -- much better than the tasteless stuff at typical Mexican restaurants in the US. The only downside of the dish was that it was quite salty -- especially the sauce traditionally served alongside Birria tacos.

For appetizers, we shared Chicken Wings and the Potted Buffalo Chicken - excellent choice! Main dishes included Utica Riggies - the medium heat version was too mild. Having ordered Riggie's in Utica, we recommend ordering the high heat version. A Caesar Salad dinner was okay, but the medium grilled steak was cooked too well, no pink visible. Adding shaved parmesan to the salad would be a nice touch! The Pork with Rabe sandwich very good, a dipping au jus on the side would enhance the flavors. Hands down - the fries were the favorite! The fish fry also gets high marks. A few beverages that got a thumbs up: the Whispering Angel wine and the IPA Sierra Nevada. Lastly, we thought the Innovo servers were top notch and want to give them a shout out here! Once a month, our group of four uses Open Table to choose restaurants that we have never been to before. We enjoyed our visit to Innovo Kitchen and would love to return in the future. We thought the menu had several other intriguing dishes to try, and we hope to come back and sit outside near the fire another time.
