My mussels were lovely, but my husband didn’t really enjoy his fish which was a shame. My friend’s meals seemed to be enjoyed too.
Delicious food, friendly and attentive staff- the perfect evening, thank you so much guys!x
Lovely restaurant, im a little picky with steak and i can confidently say they served the nicest fillet steak ive ever had! I would recommend to anyone
Amazing food, amazing service and lovely location. V helpful staff and child friendly
Very limited vegetarian menu and the beetroot salad was very poor value with no substance to it, had to order a portion of chips with it which were really overdone- all of the chips we had were overdone. Overall experience very disappointing
We had a lovely meal and the food was outstanding.
Beautiful views over the sea.
We love it at Inn on the shore and have been a few times now, always fantastic! Perfect for lunch with a view!
Service a bit slow but worth the wait as the food was lovely and value for money.
Everything was perfect. We had a gorgeous evening.
Best food I’ve ever had! Amazing staff and lovely clean place to eat, staff went above and beyond☺️
Really enjoyed our night here, however felt as if the steak was a little over priced
Lovely scenery and decor inside. However there are only 2 vegetarian options which are salads, pricing at £13 and £14. I would have thought there would have been more substantial veggie options. We looked at the menu online beforehand, but as this was classed as a ‘sample menu’, we assumed there would be more variety.
That being said, the salad we did have was really tasty and the other food we ordered was well received.
I would recommend Inn on the Shore to my friends who are meat eaters.
The whole experience was dreadful, so we cancelled the booking that we had also made for next week.
The set menu ( no other choice) had 4 options, one of which was river trout and another was sea trout ( …cooked in batter with chips?). There was no ‘catch of the day’ as they’d ‘been let down ‘. There was no draught cider ‘because they’d been let down by the delivery people ‘. Very disappointedly, we opted for the rump steak and chips -steak on a beach location restaurant seemed so wrong, but so did the thought of sea trout in batter with chips snd mushy peas.
We waited for an hour for our lunch to be served because “the ticket machine wasn’t working , so the chef hadn’t known about the order, but would come out to apologise”-he didn’t. In order to ‘compensate’, my husband was offered a complimentary drink but I wasn’t
As we paid the guy behind the bar-to whom we complained about the atrocious experience, in response to his “every thing alright, guys?”, he couldn’t have cared less, to the point of utter rudeness.
I most definitely would never recommend this restaurant , whose attitude to their customers was atrocious and the service, even worse. There are far, far better places to visit , where you can be assured of a true Cornish welcome, excellent service, good food ( and choice !) , whose aim is to please , in the hope that you will return. Not this place , that’s for sure. It fails on all counts.
Amazing food, great friendly service, will definitely be returning
Fantastic little pub/restaurant. We’d checked the menu out before we arrived so knew what to expect.
It’s located right along the beach with stunning views from the garden and restaurant.
The food was lovely, a simple menu but plenty to choose from.
The staff were fantastic, friendly and professional.
Added bonus is that they’re very dog friendly too!
Service was very good, Covid guidance all followed. Menu was extremely poor - only 4 main courses to choose from and two of them very strange for a pub menu. We were 3 ladies for lunch and we all ended up having the cod and chips - not what any of us would normally choose for lunch. Would expect to have the choice of salads, sandwiches, light lunches, etc. Seems like it's trying to be a Bistro, not a pub. The food was good, spoilt for one of us by the amount of salt that had already been put on the chips.
Great views attentive service
Creative tasty diner
With the new menu, from last time we came we expected great things. Firstly very little choice for vegans/vegetarians. The cod in beef fat sounded weird but because it was different worth a try. Very greasy especially as the meal started to cool. Crab started very nice. River trout good also.
Service very good.
This was our second visit in 2 days which says it all! The location is fabulous and it’s a really friendly pub for couple or families. The food was excellent as was the service. 2 great evenings!
The service was very very slow. Our order got missed so had to wait and extra 20 minutes just for a starter. Overall we were there for three hours!
The view was lovely then.
Delightful setting and friendly staff. Food was delicious. Booked in again already!
First time we have been, since change to a more restaurant style menu. Service and food we're amazing, I had the minute steak, cooked to perfection. Only gripe would be the complete lack of vegan options, as my wifes only choice was the goats cheese option, without the goats cheese, albeit replaced by avocado by the chef, In this day and age, and the way this place wants to go, they definitely need to look at that.
Other than that, top lunch.
Need to try the evening menu next...
The food was very nice (although the steak was a little chewy). Just a shame there was a very limited choice and no "snack" option, just full meals. Very tasty though.
Can't blame the young staff, who were pleasant and polite throughout, but too much chaos in what felt like an overbooked restaurant (in a great location). Everyone still getting used to the new rules so Fair rather than Poor. If dinners have to book 90 min slots, service has to be reasonably prompt and you can't run out of main dishes early in the evening - you know how many people you have, where they are, what time they arrived, and what time they must finish by.
Unfortunately poor experience- when we booked menu was general food OK for 2 kids however when we arrived we only had a choice of very expensive menu with 4 mains. One was off the menu, so only 3 available However we ordered we waited one hour and 10 minutes after ordering to then be told no fish & chips - so we had to re-order left with two options mackerel or butternut squash, too late to leave. Everyone had pre- booked so not to have food available is extremely poor management. The mackerel was good however we had waited 1 hour 20 mins and at a cost of over £80 for two wines and 4meals was not a pleasant experience- such a pity.
Just super night out , the guys worked really hard and service was great , they where pushed dud or the bank holiday weekend but standard was awesome
Waited 1 hour and 25 minutes until our main course came .. no one asked if we were ok, or needed drinks etc. When we asked where our food was the waitress didn’t return to tell us. We decided against dessert due to how long our food took to arrive, I shared my dinner with my daughter as hers was inedible and took her home to get her some food.
Evening meal - selection not huge and some different combinations of food. They appear not to do "pub" food so check menu before booking. The prices appear to be slightly on the high side but it appears to be the theme at the moment.
My meal was lovely, I had squash, goats cheese with lentils (don't like lentils but thought lets try something different) and chips with selection of sauces. All presented nicely. My husband had steak and thought it was good.
Staff were efficient and pleasant, will be going there again.
Excellent meal with a beautiful view
Really disappointed! We love the Inn on the Shore and have been coming on and off for years. Amazing location!
Service was very poor - did not get our order right and kept having to ask for items we ordered. Could not get the staff attention at all. Very poor choice of menu - was just wanting pub grub. Very expensive for the service received - the food was very nice once we got it! Kids choices were very poor for a family advertised venue! So upset as got to go out in over a year, got to see my poorly mum in over a year and it was my daughters birthday.... all a bit let down really! Asked the staff for some chocolate ice cream for the kids puddings and if they had a candle to add for my daughter so we could sing happy birthday - they put a tea light on top of a small pot of ice cream! (Which was appreciated) BUT totally wrong flavoured ice cream for both kids ! Just feel there was no interest at all - for the price of our meal I would have expected ice cream in a bowl at least!!!!!
I am so upset! 😔
The music was a little loud & had to ask twice to lower it. No cutlery given with desert or sugar with coffee. No offer of more drinks. Bill inaccurate and when pointed out, made to feel like we were being difficult.
The other issue was some staff were NOT wearing face masks & when we pointed out to them everyone should be, they said the manager said they were ok not to. A BIT OF A WORRY at the moment.
You can't fault the location, stunning views.
The waiting staff were excellent, if a little overstretched.
Service was prompt.
The meal was disappointing. We had the Spicy Shepard's Pie dish which had been 'deconstructed'. Served in a pasta dish the portion looked small and we had to order sides on top, so it wasn't cheap. For my taste the dish really lacked both seasoning and spice. The Onion Bhajees were very underdone and almost raw in the middle. The Pea Shoot garnish on top was 'limp' and yellowing and shouldn't have been served.
By far the most challenging aspect though was the level of noise. We were seated in the newer dining area and we literally could not hear each other speak above the general noise of other diners. Perhaps an acoustic issue with the low ceiling, but I honestly felt like I'd been shouted at for 2 hours. Not sure what you do to fix that.....
Overall not a terrible experience, but not great either.
The lack of bar menu will put me off returning. A la cart menu is more expensive and unless improved and noise levels somehow magically solved not worth the extra cost I'm afraid.
Food was super tasty and well presented. Definitely on the pricey side but very enjoyable indeed.
Limited choice (5 mains, 3 deserts). Overpriced- £26 for tiny rump steak. Used to like this pub pre-covid. I resent pubs trying to recoup their Covid losses. As a local I doubt I’ll return. Same quality, better value elsewhere. If you want a good laugh - ask for sugar with your coffee.
Lovely evening Ala carte menu delicious, staff very friendly, lovely evening
Advertised lunch menu look ok so we booked but found it only offered fine dining set menu. So we got up and left as we only wanted a light lunch so very disappointed
It was such a shame . As so looking forward to it especially it being my birthday .
The service was slow could except that as they were young .
Drinks 20 minutes wait
Starters 1 hour wait
Main came later and food was cold they took it away and it came back still cold.
They asked if we wanted fresh food but it was to late .
They said they would refund the meal which we hadn’t eaten .
Starters were refunded .
We settled drinks bill .
Very disappointed 😞
Staff were good but unfortunately we couldn't have any hot food as the kitchen was out of service . Was offered sandwiches but we didn't go there for a sandwich . Disappointing visit
Great location overlooking the beach, we sat outside in the sunshine.
We had a lovely fish and chips meal- tasted great!
Nice cold beer and gin to cool off on a sunny day.
The staff seemed busy, which meant that at times service was a little slow.
Staff ensured we had a suitable table. Service was efficient and staff were so friendly. Food was spot on. 👍 Thank you.
