Inn at Sugarhill - Yogi's All American Riverview Restaurant & Bar
As an authentic country inn, the Inn at Sugar Hill always strives to provide old world hospitality to both its dining & bed & breakfast guests. This philosophy has led to creating menus that reflect not only current culinary trends, but also respect the palates of those less adventurous.
Sugar Hill Crab Cake
Broiled jumbo lump crab cake, served with cilantro-lime aioli sauce
Our most popular soup bursting with crabmeat
Two couples went during Restaurant Week. The menu was limited, but enough to get an idea of food quality, which ranged from an A- for crabcakes, to a C (average) for veal parm. This is a solid, decent restaurant, not a destination for foodies, but a reliable source when you're looking for a night out. P.S. The bread is fabulous. And the service was great.
Every aspect of this dining experience was superb!!
Service was slow. The regulars recieved more attention. The food was bland and the crab cakes were burnt. They offered to make us fresh ones to take with us, but we declined. They weren't that good. They took $20 off instead. The martinis were the only good thing once it was too dark to see the river. Not a great birthday dinner.
It was awesome, great meal, wonderful caring staff and of course the owners are terrific
Wonderful menu, for restaurant week.
The crab cakes , were filled with crab and loved the yogurt sauce accompanying them.
Husband had the Veal Parmigiana, it was good but pasta was overdone.
Chocolate Layer Cake was moist & delicious as well as the Cheesecake! Attentive service. Overall, very good.
Went for AC Restaurant week and glad that we did! Everything and everyone was wonderful from start to finish...service, food and atmosphere. Will definitely go back again soon!
Specials for restaurant Week were varied, priced right and the 2 we chose were excellent. Bread pudding is the best I have ever tasted. Highly recommend to anyone.
Our dinner experience at the Sugar Hill Inn was very pleasant and enjoyable. We found the Inn and its staff to be warm, friendly and very accommodating. Our dinner entrees which included the Emerald Scallops and the Prime Rib Special were very good and presented in a timely manner. It was indeed a very enjoyable evening!
Thank you for your review Slicnic. We look forward to your next visit. Yogi & Selda

Was very pleased with the new menu. I tried the cajun shrimp and chicken jambalaya, excellent! Better than what I had in New Orleans.
Thank you MarthaA, We look forward to your next visit. Yogi & Selda
Yogi's has just reopened after some improvements were made. Everything looks so nice and fresh and bright. We tried new items on the menu, lobster ravioli and coconut shrimp, very good. Our favorite servers were there, Helen and T. Enjoyed the evening with everyone.
Thank you a Chappy44 for yourfeedback. We are glad to hear that you like our new fresh look and menu items. We look forward to see you soon. Yogi & Selda
We took a shot at this place in Mays Landing & it was just a great find. The food was great , but limited in selection. Waitress was terrific - not much else to say. Will go back when in Mays Landing!
Thank you for your feedback and we look forward to see you soon. Happy New Year !
Food was GREAT. I had the Salmon wife had the scallops. Ambiance very nice. There was a little confusion on the drink menu but overall an excellent experience
Dave, Thank you for your feedback. We are glad that your enjoyed your visit. We look forward to your next visit. Happy New Year !
The waiter changed one of our entrees so that he could "tell the difference" between medium and medium-well. One had no sauce. He brought two vodka shots instead of two martinis. He brought a dessert without the asked for ice cream. He told us they just ran out of a liqueur we asked for with coffee and then as we were leaving, we saw 2 bottles of it at the bar
Had a lovely experience. Great service, great food, beautiful atmosphere.
Thank you for your reviews, SassylisaG. We are looking forward to see you again!
Very nice place for you to have Thanksgiving Dinner. Excellent Food
Thank you Janice, we are looking forward to see you again.
There food is amazing. The stuff is so genuinely sweet. I would gladly recommend this restaurant to anyone. And my fiancé and I are planning to have our wedding dinner there.
Thank you EricaM. We look forward to your next visit to our Inn.
New ownership/management. Very eager to please. New menu, very attractive. Well worth the visit. We'll be back!
Thank you Willamd, we look forward to see you again.
Our third time there. The first two times I recall everything was very good including the food. This time, however, didn't quite do it for any of us. The fact that there were three tables occupied on the porch and our group of seven were the only ones in the dining room at 7 PM on a Friday night seemed to say that the others who weren't there knew something we didn't. Did we get a new chef, perhaps? Drinks: I've never had a server bring out ONE DRINK AT A TIME! What's with that? My Belvedere martini didn't taste like Belvedere, another's Manhattan looked like a glass of rosé with a cherry in it. Not sure what she ordered, but I noticed that another in our party didn't touch hers after the first few sips. Two of the girls in our party ordered chocolate martini concoctions and liked them, but then chocolate can mask a lot, and who orders a chocolate martini anyway? Appetizers: Fried calamari was a bit over-fried to my liking, not one piece resembled a ring or tentacles, and the spinach and artichoke bake seemed to be sitting for awhile before it came out, as it was lukewarm and not easily dippable for the accompanying pita chips. Entrees: My scallops, while tasty, seemed a bit dry despite the sherry/cream/tomato sauce they were swimming in. Two of our party who had the crab cakes seemed to think they were "meh", one saying hers was rather cold, and another said their roast beef special was a bit tough to cut. Service: While she was pleasant, not particularly attentive considering we were only one of four occupied tables in the place.
Dear Jack S, Thank you for your feedback. I can assure you that we are addressing all of your concerns during your visit and we hope you will give us another opportunity to serve you better. Please let us know when you are coming next time. Yogi and Selda, Innkeepers
Always an awesome meal and ambiance at Sugar Hill Inn!
Thank you TomD, we look forward to seeing you again.
What a gem... This lovely restaurant within a B&B inn has a wonderful ambiance, great wait staff, and most importantly, savory & tasty dishes! The restaurant includes a full, proper bar, and the bartender was so helpful in pleasing one of my guests who is rather particular about her wine... A seasoned, social, and knowledgeable bartender goes a long way, and Helen was all-around terrific!
As for the food & dishes, to start, the shrimp cocktail is outstanding... Colossal shrimp with a tangy, but not overly spicy, cocktail sauce. All of us at the table agreed that the filet mignon was a great dish... We all ordered it our second night there. The meat was done perfectly at medium temperature, a quality cut, and every bite melted like butter with great flavors. The previous night that we were there, my wife had the scallop dish which was very good & flavorful, but the scallops could have been seared a tad bit more to make the color & texture perfect. So if you order the scallop dish (which we would recommend as a tasty seafood selection), request that the scallops be properly seared, meaning that they should have a very light browning on the outside all around. Spike, our server both nights was more than accommodating! With the restaurant almost filled to capacity, she handled one of our more particular guests so very well, making appropriate suggestions and trying to be as accommodating as possible to ensure her satisfaction... only as a seasoned, professional server would know how! Above all, the owners of the inn (Selda & Yogi) who also oversee the restaurant operations made us feel so very welcomed... Selda checked in with our table many times to ensure that everything was okay, as she did with all of the tables from what I could see. Selda & Yogi naturally make you feel right at home! They are genuine people. We so thoroughly enjoyed our time there & dining experience. We look forward to our next visit!
Thank you Derek, We appreciate your kind words and wonderful review of our Inn at Sugar Hill and restaurant. I will make sure we address the scallops concerns. We look forward to your next visit to our Inn and restaurant. Yogi & Selda
We were in the area of the Inn at Sugar Hill and took the opportunity to have dinner. We were unaware the Inn was under new ownership. The service was excellent. We were warmly greeted and seated immediately. Manager checked on us several times during our dinner. Very impressive!
We had the tomato bisque soup special, crab bisque and Caesar salad to start. All were wonderful. Entrees were crab cakes, salmon, stuffed shrimp and Tuscan chicken. Crab cakes were excellent. Salmon was excellent, cooked as requested, but didn't really care for the dill sauce. Tuscan chicken was superb. Stuffed shrimp were a little overcooked and the stuffing had a little too much lemon for our taste. Sides were mashed potatoes, french fries, coleslaw. All excellent. The side of wild rice pilaf was under cooked. The drinks were an excellent Cosmopolitan and a rather weak white sangria. All in all, a good experience and we will return.
By the way, the views are amazing from the porch overlooking the lake at sunset!
Elman 1952, Thank you for your nice comments and feedback. We look forward to your next visit.
New owners very friendly and accomodating. Great views and great food.
Thank you for your nice comments RickB. We look forward to see you soon.
Excellent! Everyone is attentive and friendly. Great service and the food was delicious. My favorite place to go.
Dear GicelaH, Thank you for your wonderful feedback and we look forward to your next visit to our area.
WE WILL RETURN TO THIS GEM! My family are locals and actually tried this restaurant for the first time last month. My husband and I are quite foodies, and my husband even admits to being a "food snob." We took our two sons and all 4 of us thoroughly enjoyed dining here. What a neat place! There are multiple rooms in which you can dine, each unique and full of character. The food and cocktails were absolutely superb and fresh! Hot artesian bread was a plus! Every staff member that dealt with us was over-the-top accommodating, especially the owner and his wife. They were so kind to our boys and made us all feel special. We even got a tour of the rooms in which you can stay, along with the history of the inn. We have put staying there on our list of things to do. We thought it was especially neat that the front porch, working doorbell, and wood floor in the entry way are completely original, uneven and beautiful. The owners let my son ring the bell to see how it worked. My husband was born and raised in England and his parents are flying over next week to visit us. We will surely be taking them here! We CHOSE (because we were offered a choice!) to dine in a quaint room with a fireplace. We loved the feeling of going back in time. The music was relaxing and the views are nice. You can tell that this place has become a passion to its new owners, who go out of their way to make sure you are enjoying your experience there to the fullest. I will be buying my parents a gift certificate to got here as well. We can't wait to return!
LeeW, thank you for your wonderful comments and acknowledging our efforts. It was our pleasure to have you and your family here. We can't wait to meet your parents!
What a birthday blast girls’ night out! My friend and I dined outside and ordered from the restaurant dinner menu. The view of the water was beautiful.
Our caesar salads were crisp and dressed perfectly, and the bread was warm. My friend loved her chicken Francaise, and I enjoyed the Cajun Shrimp & Chicken Jambalaya over pasta, which was only a bit spicy. The pasta was cooked just right. Our cheesecake desserts were creamy, flavorful, and beautifully presented.
My red sangria was very good, and my friend liked the choices of white wine available.
Most of all we loved the staff; the manager, server, bartender, and bus staff did everything possible to make our celebration fantastic!
Thank you jbhomemaker1. We are delighted with your visit. Thank yo for the nice comments. We are looking forward to seeing you again. Many more years with health and happiness. Happy Birthday.
Food was good and beautiful view of the river boat parade from our table .
Thank you Marie G. We are looking forward to seeing you again.
Hostess was very nice and had our table ready as we had reservations. Our waiter was excellent as he recommend the scallops for dinner as well as the fillet and crab cake. Both were amazing. For dessert he recommend the peanut butter pie. Wow is all I can say. We had a window seat and were able to see the water as the sunset. Perfect night. Definitely will be back.
Thank you guyP, we are looking forward to seeing you again.
Excellent. I love this place!!! Everyone there is wonderful!
Thank you GicelaH, we are looking forward to seeing you again.
For the past 3 years our long-time favorite shore restaurant ‘down the shore’ largely went away. The owner was sick, and hours of operation were spotty or non existent. That all changed in July when Yogi Kumar and his wife purchased the Inn. Honestly, we haven’t had a meal this good at the IASS in over a decade, if ever. Menu is new and exciting. Meals included crab bisque, onion soup, shrimp and chicken jambalaya, filet mignon, crab cake, and grilled salmon. Excellent bottle of Villadoria Tuscan Nebbiolo wine (value priced) made for a terrific complement to our food. They have a separate outside cafe/bar with live music on the river (with a dock - you could boat from OCNJ to the restaurant!) at the property, if that is more your speed.
Yogi was a partner in the Grand Summit Hotel in North Jersey and decided to downsize. He plans a year-round operation and eventual improvements to an already beautiful historic gem. Steve and Cookies in Margate is the benchmark we use for evaluating shore restaurants. The new IASS is, based on tonight’s one meal for 4, at least the culinary equal of S&C....and reservations are ALOT easier to get here in Mays Landing.
We have a house in Ocean City. Anyone from Atlantic City south to Strathmere should think about how difficult it is in season to get a reservation /wait on the barrier islands or Somers Point. If you take a 20-30 minute pleasant drive to Mays Landing, you can get seated immediately (for now even on a Saturday night) at a top- level restaurant in a relaxing, historic and beautiful setting. Why would anyone wait over an hour to eat at a ‘Crab Trap’, for example, when you could be eating in style within 30-minutes of OCNJ?
Go to the Inn....this new owner is working hard to earn your consideration.
Thank you Highrider. We are looking forward to seeing you again.
We had a great time
Everybody is so nice and friendly
Food was good
Server was very good
We were seating outside under the gazebo , the day was beautiful .
We will return when we are in NJ
Thank you. We are looking forward to seeing you again.
The staff was wonderful and friendly. The surroundings were very clean. Noise level was low, allowing for conversation. Ambience was delightful. Beverages were reasonably priced. I particularly enjoyed the soup, which was piping hot, rather than tepid as in many establishments. Quality and portion size and presentation of the meal was excellent. My one complaint was in the delay of service, in that there was a 90 minute delay from the time of our reservation until the time the main course was served. Staff did acknowledge this and I think there will be improvement on my next meal there.
Early dinner special, great value, awesome food and great service!
