Conceived by Rainer Becker, and developed alongside executive chef Hamish Brown, INKO NITO is a standalone Japanese dining concept that launched in Los Angeles’ Art District. The interiors at the Downtown LA location create an elegant but approachable setting, incorporating custom glazed handmade tiles throughout, with an open Robata grill allowing customers to soak up the environment.

We were there on a Sunday evening and ordered the “Sunday Funday” special. Definitely a great value, there is a lot of food! One for two would have been enough, not sure they would let you share the special though. The food was quite delicious, although some of the items on the assortment plate were a bit cold. Service was friendly, I like the atmosphere of the restaurant. It was quiet, but it also wasn’t very crowded at the time we were there.
We showed up at 6:50 for a 7:00 pm rezi. We thought we would check in and grab a drink while we waited. Not sure if they had a bunch of buss people not show up but the host looked to be too busy running around clearing and setting tables to even bother checking the host station. We stood there waiting until after 7:00 before the host finally looked over to see a fairly large backup forming. When we told him our reservation time he just told us it would be about a twenty minute wait and went back to setting tables. Considering the fact that there were a bunch of tables open....we were more than a bit surprised. All of the above said....
They sat us at our table about 10 minutes late, but the friendly bartenders helped to take the edge off of what was looking to be a bad experience. The food was amazing (have the beef cheeks!!) and so was the waiter....Hence the 5 stars for service.
I was leaning toward blaming the host for the poor beginning, but over flowing wastebaskets in the restrooms, un-bussed tables on the patio seating probably indicates poor management.
Go for the food... be prepared for a wait.

Sunday Funday was a great value! Food is not really Japanese, just Japanese-inspired. (I am Japanese).
The best sushi I’ve had outside of Tokyo. Really a fine dining experience in a lovely little part of LA.
I made a reservation for my husbands birthday. I noted in my reservation it was for a birthday. When I checked into the restaurant I told the server it was for my husbands birthday. The restaurant did not offer us a dessert menu at the end nor did they bring out dessert. Instead they brought me the check. When I noted my disappointment the waitress said we don’t offer birthday desserts. Ridiculous because I didn’t even get an opportunity to order dessert. Never coming back. Food was mediocre and service was terrible even though the place wasn’t even full.
I had great experience. I wanted to try something new. The food was delicious. Shareable food and tapas vibe. The Drinks were excellent as well.

Dine LA: Presentation of plates was very nice; however, most of the food lacked flavor. The beef cheek was good, which actually had some flavor. The decor was nice and ambiance is pretty hip. I’m happy to have tried this restaurant; however, it is not for me.
Cool place for drinks and small plates
Got the DineLA fixed menu. It was good as well as the drinks. Valet was $12 though so I suggest finding street parking.
The Scallop is excellent but the Branzino is a little salty. The Creme Brulee is one of the best.

yes it was New Year’s eve but we were there for a 6:45 reservation and the DJ kept turning up the volume of the disco music — there was no dance floor — louder and louder until we left because we could not speak across a small table for 2.
What a great night celebrating my sons birthday . We were greeted warmly at the door . Server came immediately with water and drinks shortly after . Waiter was super helpful with suggestions . Waiter helped us with a cake celebration

Food is too salty and I ordered expensive dish but they used cheap food ingredient.
Also waitress took our dishes before finish. She did many times.

Always a great experience at INKO NITO. Top notch service and food. Yellowtail collars are delicious and meaty. Beef cheek is well seasoned and so tender.
Wasn't blown away by anything, but decent food and cool patio.
We had the "Omakase" Tasting menu, nine courses. Amazingly fresh Sashimi. Yellowtail salad was subtle and light. The scallops skewer was succulent and flavorful. Beef Cheeks were incredible and the Branzino a delight. Meats that literally melt in your mouth. The brulee was excellent although I could do without the soya caramel cream it was topped with... the contrast of flavors was too much and disappointing. I look forward to returning, I have too try their baby back ribs. Two thumbs way up.
Very good food and service. Relaxed atmosphere on a Saturday night. A few of the dishes seemed overpriced for the amount served, but otherwise delicious Japanese style food.

Restaurant seems to have taken a step backwards. First two times I went it was spectacular. This time was below average (poor service, lesser menu, etc.). Will not return, unfortunately.
The service here can be a hit or miss. While our server was very kind - it took two appetizers to come out before I had to flag him down for our drinks.
The food came out slow, I know grilling takes time - but felt like the restaurant pace was moving must slower than it should’ve been.
It also appears to be that their menu has since changed. Personally I preferred the menu from when they first opened in LA. The portions as maki rolls are too small to taste any of the distinct ingredients they offered. I hope they go back to the way they use to serve them.
However, all the grilled and vegetable portions are delicious and well portioned.
Ambience is always great, but as I mentioned service can always be a hit or miss.
Server was awesome! Sat by the grill and the food was awesome, portions are just right and order numerous items and share, great for two people cause most of the food is prepared that way. We will be back for sure
