Food very good but so noisy, you can’t hear anything. They should fix the acoustics
Highlights of this meal were the spicy fruit and vegetable salad, the beef stuffed appetixer, the seafood green curry, the Chilean sea bass. The freshwater prawns were delicious but very messy and difficult to eat. The cocktails, especially the jalapena margarita and the gentleman, were superb. This is fifth time we have eaten at Indo. It is our restaurant of choice when we are in the Stanford area.
Terrific cuisine that represents food from the Malacan Straits, Indonesia, Singapore and the like. Great flavors with superb service. Not to be overlooked.
My parents grew up in Indonesia, and there only a few Indonesian restaurants in the SF Bay area. It was my mom's 83rd birthday, and I invited along a few of their friends who are also from Indonesia. We came on a Saturday afternoon, right after the lunch rush, so it was pretty quiet. The hostess and our waitress, Chang, were super accommodating and provided excellent service to our party. Chang was very attentive and very patient with my elderly parents and their friends. I really appreciated that. My parents and their friends also remarked how delicious and authentic the food was. Some of the dishes we ordered were: Roti, Nasi Goreng, Sayur Lodeh, Chicken Sate, Coconut rice, and Pisang Goreng. Overall, I've been to INDO about 1/2 a dozen times, and I'm always impressed with the food and their service.
We were initially seated in the main restaurant close to the bar and the stools....it was so noisy that we could not hear each other. We requested to be seated further away, and the staff were very accomodating in moving us. The food is very good, service could be a bit better (but it was a VERY busy night for them).
One word- AMAZING!!!
Best food ever
Worth the food and cocktails were also fab!
What?? I live right near here and have not been here since before the restaurant changed hands as was named something else...on a lark we decided to eat here and had no trouble getting a table for 2 on a Saturday night. The food was outstanding. Everything had great flavor and was cooked well. It might have helped that we were starving. We got the starter sampler (seems plebian on the menu, but taste was great with slight twists), the black pepper lobster (worth the hefty price tag), the salmon (worth more than the inexpensive price tag), and the Nasi Goreng with Chicken. For dessert, I highly recommend the mango mousse. Not really a mousse, more like a panna cotta texture, but was amazing. The place was pretty full, but not packed - not sure why I would eat there again in a heartbeat. Only ding was that it is a little expensive, but I felt I got high quality for the price. Oh, cocktails also delicious, pear martini well done. Was also nice and warm, service very friendly, and free dessert for texting something to something!
Great spot for a celebration. They have a nice outdoor patio and a long bar. The tuna tartar is good but they use a lot of ginger, so you'll taste it. Noodle dishes are great and they can make it not too spicy.
Service was fast, food was great, quiet place for a get together
Went for Valentine's Day dinner. Food was very good, service excellent, ambience nice except for the volume of the music. It's hard to have a nice, romantic, fine dining experience when the music is too loud and everyone in the restaurant is having to talk loud over each other. Other than that, the experience was good.
This has become a favorite spot for getting together with friends, all the food is fantastic and works well to share. Great Happy Hour and love the outdoor covered patio seating. Service is always friendly and prompt.
Varied menu suited everyone in our group. INDO staff was Professional, bring things quickly and yet giving us plenty of time to talk between courses. Food was very well prepared, and we all left happy
For my wife’s 30th birthday and it was amazing
It was a great dinner, great food, attentive service. We felt it was economical for what we got. The only downside: the indoor room was too noisy so we sat outside. There were heaters but some of us were chilly, especially after our heater began to run out of gas.
The food and service is always execellent at Indo.
Nothing Indonesian about this place, except its name. Close your eyes and you could be eating anything, anywhere. Very average, vaguely Asian food and service.
I came here one time for a work dinner, and another for a quick lunch date, and both times, I was very impressed by the food. Good flavor, and easy to share. They're not afraid to have heat in the dishes, and quite tasty. The pricing is a bit steep for the dishes, but still very convenient to have Indonesian food in Palo Alto.
We had an awesome experience here! The food was delicious (had the calimari, flatbread, and garlic noodles), and the happy hour drink specials were also really well made. The service is great, and the restaurant has a lovely ambiance.
Superb Indonesian food without having to go there...with excellent service.
Empty. Could not even get in. Gate from street was locked.
Duck kapitan was amazing. Bartender offered to switch TV to channel I want which was nice.
I went this restaurant a lot with my colleagues or business friends. Very good selection for veg and no-veg people.
I bring my family here this time , My wife love the duck kaptian and I very much enjoy the BALI Ribs.
The quantity for the ribs is a lot(considering $16), it is enough to share with two and duck is well cooked(slightly overcook per my preference ).
I also love the Roti and chicken satay , but seems like they didn't offer sampler this time.
Mango pudding is also another must try :)
Really enjoyed our New Year's Eve dinner! The specials for the evening were very interesting, we had the scallops. From the regular menu, we also ordered the martabak, the lamb korma, and the garlic noodles. All were wonderful; the martabak is very special with the sweet curry dipping sauce, and the lamb fell right off the bone.
It was as always great. Very dog friendly on the mostly enclosed patio area, especially with heaters on.
We enjoyed a variety of Indo-Chinese foods. Bahmi was our favorite. Wait staff was friendly and attentive.
We enjoyed our Friday dinner although this isn’t a good place for friends to talk if there are more than two of you because of the noise level.
We followed web suggestions and got roti, garlic noodles, basil chicken, mango salad and green beans. Perfect for three people with a small rice.
Service was fine but took a while before the server appeared after we were seated. Once we were “discovered” all was good.
We would return but next time I think we will try happy hour which runs to a generous 8 pm.
Overall: we enjoyed the restaurant even if a tad noisy for us. It was very good.
Really nice and consistent, food is excellent. Everything is well prepared. The staff is efficient and friendly. They bring the appetizer quickly, and then give you a break before the main, great timing. The only drawback is that it is very noisy, it gives the place the atmosphere of a hot place, but it is hard to carry a conversation.
Excellent server and food.
Every other time I've been to Indo, the food has been outstanding. However, when we went there this past Sunday, both the Chilean seabass and the salmon tasted off. Maybe we shouldn't have ordered fish on a Sunday, but if Indo can't make sure the fish is fresh, it shouldn't have it on the menu. I would like to emphasize, though, that I normally love every single thing at Indo.
Good apps but mains were a little sweet and bland. Service was quite average - had to wait for someone for 15 mins to clear up our table after we were done eating. Ambience is nice though.
The food keeps getting better! And service is really fast. Unique, delicious cocktails too.
Everything tastes great. The tuna tartar was unlike anything I've had before.
It was incredibly noisy inside so we sat outside even though it was raining. Heat lamps were helpful. Had basil chicken with veggies. Chicken was overcooked, very few veggies, minimal sauce. Overall disappointing. Have had dinners here that were good. This was lunch and I wouldn't come again.
Came here with a friend on a weekday. The food was flavorful and well prepared. The service was friendly and professional. However, we found the restaurant a bit noisy making it hard to chat.
A nice variety and selection of Indonesian food in a modern atmosphere. The service was quite good. My only complaint is that it is quite noisy due to the lack of sound insulation.
I really enjoyed the food. I ordered the fried rice and it was delicious. So delicious that I wanted more. I don't feel the portion was enough to substantiate the $15 price. It is just rice after all. Someone in my party ordered the Pad Thai and their portion was huge compared to mine, so I feel as though the portion sizes could be tweeked a little. My biggest complaint was the ambiance. The entire place was lit by candlelight, which is great if you're feasting on the hunt in your cave, but not so good when several people have to pull out their cell phones to read the menu. The other gripe is that the acoustics were not very good in there. It was very loud, even though the restaurant was not very busy, and several members of my party remarked that they could not communicate members at the other end of the table. Overall, great food, but disappointing ambiance.
Really, really great food but the restaurant is very loud.
Lovely restaurant, delicious food, and awesome service!
Delicious food...amazing service...knowledgeable staff! Justin, the manager, took amazing care of us for our anniversary dinner!
