Indio Restaurant & Lounge - Permanently Closed Ratings and Reviews
This is the second time that I have visited this restaurant, and I am very pleased with my experience once again. The food was great with excellent service, and the atmosphere/decor is unique and is a bery nice touch to the dining experience. If you love Indian food or simply have not tried it yet, then I would definitely recommend you visit here.
We returned to Indio and had another outstanding experience. The spinach pakoda is so light and fresh. The lamb chops were cooked to perfection. We also had an off-menu chicken dish that was superb- if only I could remember the name! Even the papadum was perfect. The service was courteous, attentive, and helpful, as always. Indio is definitely the best Indian around and one of the most enjoyable dining events in the Triangle.
We dined here again 9/9/2016. The food and service were outstanding. Indio is certainly the best Indian restaurant in the area. We were extremely pleased with all aspects and will definitely continue to dine here on a regular basis. Of course, we recommend Indio to all our friends!
We had given up on Blue Mango (this establishment's previous restaurant) but heard about the new ownership and decided to give it a try. We were pleasantly surprised. The service is improved, the menu is more inspiring and varied, the spices are authentic (and, phew, hot if you want them). All round a much better experience with more authenticity and better food.
The food was great service was awful. We waited over an hour for water refills. The only reason we got water refills is by finding a waiter ourselves and asking for water. Food took over an hour and a half to get out. Was never told sorry. The food was great but the service was absolutely horrible. I do not plan to go back even though the food was great I would much prefer Garland because their food is similar but their service is so much better.
I went at lunch but it would be great for dinner too. I'm so glad I found it. I'm already telling all my friends about it. The decor was tastefully elegant with nice lighting. The wait staff immediately responsive and the owner was welcoming and cheerful. :) :) :).......................................................................................................................................................
Service was first class. Food was excellent. My wife and I had vegetarian dishes - paneer makhani and kofta lajawab. Both had a lovely blend of spices with just the right amount of heat. We started with samosas. They were also nicely spiced but there was, for us, a little too much pastry. Perhaps two, larger, samosas, rather than three, would have made it a more satisfying dish. Garlic naan was good, but I think the Peshawar naan might have gone better with our selections.
The carrot halwa is definitely shareable! Served in a large dish with two much smaller dishes for us to eat from. Might have helped if they had provided coffee spoons, rather than teaspoons. It was very good, though, unless you are counting calories.
The chai tea brought back memories of the tea my grandmother served in Scotland many years ago. It's worth the $4 per cup.
Tried the salmon bites which were supposed to have a soy glaze. When we tried them we asked about where the soy glaze was and they said it was on the salmon before it was fried....Hmmm ok. The fish also was extremely fishy and tasted like salmon from a packet. We also have the califlower which was soggy and too over sauced. The calamari was standard but nothing special. The actual indian dish Tiki Marsala was very good. We got the shrimp as a sorry for the salmon bites but it just tasted like seasoned broiled shrimp. If you go here stick to the main dishes and avoid the tapas. The restaurant was empty and the service was friendly enough but they did forget my calamari. They were apologetic and tried to make our dining experience better.
I had read some less-than-stellar reviews about this place (I guess they had previous management that wasn't so great?), but this place was absolutely amazing. Very attentive and quick staff, incredibly delicious food, and big portions for a good price. I was incredibly impressed and I'm kind of sad that I live so far from Raleigh because I would go here again and again.
We drove nearly an hour and half to go to this place and it certainly delivered AFTER we asked for the old menu. This is a warning to anyone who used to dine here before as the management has changed. This restaurant is the only place that has 4 vegetarian entrees. It's absolutely ridiculous to think people would come here for 4 things. It was only after the waiter told us the cook would be willing to cook something from the previous menu that made it worth it. They've definitely improved the ambiance of the place and it's great for drinks!
We really enjoyed our meal at Blue Mango. The food was excellent and reasonably priced. I had to ask twice about our naan, but the waitstaff did apologize profusely for it. The ambiance is nice and it was quiet enough that our two couples could carry on conversations easily.
There is a change in ownership. They changed the menu. The food is still good, however the portions are no longer family size. They are planning on changing their name soon. Overall a good experience. We will be back to see what the new owners do with the place.
We have been there many times and always enjoy the food. Quality Indian food. The service is also impeccable.
The unfortunate thing is it is usually not very crowded. This is only a bad thing because I hope they are doing enough business to stay for a long time.
Try it. You will enjoy.
The food is great and the atmosphere is nice. We took a group of about 10 people, and while the food was great, we felt a little rushed and we kept getting interrupted by the servers. If you're going with a large group wanting to have good conversation, this may not be the place to go. But if you're looking for great food for a few people, it's perfect!
I am an eternal optimist, but wow. Blue Mango was the most entertaining dining experience I've ever had. It really looked like a bad episode of Kitchen Nightmares. Gordon Ramsey seriously needs to makeover this management team, it was embarrassing. The manager was so rude to her staff and customers. Zero organization. The food was very good which was positive, but I am confident that this establishment will see a decline in consumers unless they reevaluate their management. The waitstaff so not deserve that type of disrespect.
Found a new favorite!
Had a wonderful meal with my friend. She had never had Indian food before and loved her dish. There were so many options on the menu for me, even though I am severely gluten intolerant, that I had a hard time choosing.
I liked the ambiance of the place as it is inviting and allows for a leisurely meal. I think I will try the bar next time, as it seemed very inviting.
The service was on point and friendly and our waiter made sure my food was safe for me.
Music was a bit on the loud side for having a good conversation, but I should have simply asked to lower it - which I didn't. And that is the only critical feedback I could give, because it was simply a delightful meal!
This was my first time visiting and my first time eating Indian food. Everything was great but I would like to say that the tomato soup was a bit too salty for my liking. The restaurant looks amazing, nice and clean, and the owner seems to be auper nice as he checked to see if our meal was ok. I would definitely recommend to friends and come back if I'm in town. Thanks!
A fan of the food! Love that you can tailor the spiciness to your tolerance level. My favorite dishes are the Lamb Vindaloo and the Chicken Tikka Masala. We have visited this restaurant on many occasions and must say sitting at the front on the inside closer to the bar area is a hit or miss on service. The bartender is your waiter which isn't bad on a slow night, but if the patronage picks up plan to experience a SLOW meal. In all the other seating zones we have experienced no such problems. The staff are very friendly and super knowledgable. Every suggestion we've been given was a welcome surprise. If you enjoy Indian Cuisine, this little gem is worth a visit!
A small group of us tried the Blue Mango on Saturday night. The interior is modern and lovely, the service quietly attentive. Food and drinks were fabulous! I eat a lot of Indian food, and consider this among the best the Triangle has to offer. Shrimp Do-Piaza was wonderful. There's a nice wine and beer list, as well as some interesting cocktails. I'll definitely be back.
