   I love that this place highlights sustainable seafood. We even received a "Seafood Watch" Guide to buying sustainable seafood at a market with our bill! The food was excellent, especially the mushroom bisque (would come back for just that). The setting was wonderful: we were in a small bar area with dim lighting. They had outside seating too, but I'm glad we were inside since it was warm and I had made a reservation. The ONLY thing I found bothersome--if anything--was that parking was limited to a pay-per-hour lot or street parking if you could find some. We just gave in and bought parking for two hours; it was a small fee but I wish there were more options. It was a great time; I will be recommending the restaurant to others.

   We spent our final night out this season at enjoying a perfect meal that included a wonderful salad, pork chop with Dijon hollandaise, caramelized brown sugar, broccoli, potato and bacon hash, and finished with delicious orange creamsicle ice cream and a coconut white chocolate magic shell. The staff is always wonderful. Love Indigenous.

   Our daughter gave us a gift certificate to Indigenous for Christmas. We live in Massachusetts, but spend a couple of months in Sarasota. Our daughter researched restaurants and really like the way Indigenous sounded. The place definitely lived up to the hype. We started with a shared cup of mushroom bisque. It was outstanding. The next time we go, I will not be sharing it with my husband. We also ordered the beignets and the mushroom appetizer. They both were very good. My husband ordered the pork shop and I ordered the hamburger My burger was delicious, and so were the roasted potatoes. To be honest, after the appetizers and bisque I was so full and was only able to eat a small amount of my main entrée. My husband loved his pork chop and the hash that came with it. I suggested that the next time we come, we share an entrée, but I honestly think it will be tough to decide which one we want. Our surfer was fantastic, she couldn’t have been nicer and more accommodating. We will definitely return next year.

   This was our second visit to Indigenous. The first time was excellent, and we weren't disappointed on this second visit. The food was amazing !! Everything was outstanding from the appetizers (Trout Pate and Roasted Mushrooms) to the main courses of Cobia and Cheshire Pork Chop. Portion sizes are generous (especially the pork chop !!) and prices for the quality of the food are extremely reasonable. This was a significantly better meal than the previous evening at Ocean Prime - and about half the price. Service was very good. Our only slight problem was that we ate in the small room at the rear of the restaurant, where the air conditioning was a bit too efficient. The rest of the experience more than made up for that, however. We will definitely be back. Indigenous really is one of the top restaurants in Sarasota and well deserves its reputation.

    Wait staff was both delightful and professional. The Chef expertly melded the ingredients so each bite provided another flavor profile. A lovely evening.
