They accomodated us very well after a long day at the golf. We were a thirsty bunch, and they helped us rehydrate brilliantly !

We have been to Indian Essence many times but this was the first since outside eating only. We were lucky that the weather was good on Wednesday lunchtime, especially as the gazebo had been blown down by high winds 2 days before. BUT, we experienced their small plates alfresco menu which was absolutely brilliant, one of the best ideas we have come across during recent hard times. Small plates like this are ideal for lunchtime sharing, our party of 4 chose 2 each with a couple of sides and the mix of tastes was superb. All excellently cooked as usual, exceptionally good quality for outside dining. They should keep that small plates menu for the future...

It was lovely to have Indian Essence food presented as Indian Essence should be rather than having a takeaway, and even though the taste is the same it just isn’t as nice! The small plate selection was a great idea and one we hope they continue at lunchtimes. The outside area was lovely - not sure how we would have faired if it had rained we were on the edge of the gazebo, the staff are attentive and helpful. We had a superb lunch thank you.

The food was tasty and they had made a great effort with the outdoor set up due to covid. The staff were also very polite. The only slight thing was the price, it is a little bit more expensive than your usual meal, especially as they have a “small plates” menu outside - that said it’s nice for a treat!

Eating outside was a new experience for us at Indian Essence but the staff were attentive, blankets and heaters were also provided. They have an alfresco menu which is small plates but when we requested something off their takeaway menu they were very accommodating. We had a lovely time and would recommend.

I came to dinner for a celebration with a reservation and made to wait 40 minutes in the cold before being seated, after initially being told it would be a ten minute wait. We were offered a table down a small entrance away from the restaurant as they were “running behind”. This is disappointing service as I’ve met you before and eaten at your restaurants multiple times which I’ve enjoyed but this is bad service, our table was clearly given to friends of the owner, our food was served an hour after we finally sat down - it was very nice food but unfortunately everything else detracted from that. We were not 2m away from the couple next to us, I was practically touching her with my chair, we were the last ones in the restaurant as everything took so long and the restaurant was cleaned up around us which was just a lovely ambience to sit in. My food was cleared away as I was still eating and I had to ask for blankets as I was cold. All round it was not a good experience at all and I wouldn’t recommend people wanting to celebrate and have a nice meal out to go. A free glass of Prosecco and £10 off the bill doesn’t cut it for me I’m afraid!

A highly enjoyable al fresco experience with friendly, attentive staff and an excellent selection of dishes, including for vegetarian tastes. This might be popular in the summer, even after lockdown restrictions have ended!

The al fresco terrace has been done to a high standard with gazebo to help if it’s windy or it starts to rain. There is outdoor heating too. Food to the usual high standards of Indian Essance although the al fresco small plates make it a particularly expensive meal. Somewhere between a starter and main they recommended to us 2-3 per person. At £12-16 per plate that is an expensive dining experience and that’s without drinks. Having the usual menus available would have made for a better rounded experience.

the small plates menu was a great idea, allowing us to share a range of dishes, tapas style, between us - it's always difficult to choose what to have from the menu, so maybe this option will continue in some form. Duck Keema Pao and lamb 3 ways were amazing. good outside space, although some traffic noise.

A superb tapas menu available. We had delicious lamb, chicken and prawns.
A new addition was masala spiced steak and chips.
We thoroughly enjoyed our first meal out since lockdown.
We shall be heading back very soon.
It is by far the best Indian for miles.

Wouldn't advise to eat outdoors in colder weather, with just an overhead canopy with one side panel.
Tiny bar heater, not sufficient to keep you or food warm.
Tho nice food and service.

Beautiful food and we’ve been many times. It’s very expensive but it’s worth it for a special meal. Our waiter was lovely but I have docked a point as the upwelling got a little tiresome.

Second time I have eaten here, first time I had the tasting menu. The second time A la carte. Overall the food is OK and in some instances excellent, but I do not feel it justifies the price.

I am happy to spend £200+ on a meal if it is to a given standard but do not feel Indian Essence has hit those heights on either occasion.

Tasting menu with wine pairing - one of the wines was awful and had a 1 star review on Vivino, cheap and nasty. Food was average to good depending on the course.

A la carte - Scallop starter did not work. Mixed kebabs excellent.

For main course the monkfish was very good, but the steak despite asking for medium rare was well done - I raised this but nothing was done.

Overall it is not a bad restaurant but it does not compete at the price point they are attempting to charge customers at.

The one saving grace is that the cocktails are consistently excellent, it is just a shame the food is not of the same consistency.

Excellent food quality and presentation. Very thorough when it comes to allergies, ensuring that any meal is prepared individually if you have allergies. The service was excellent. Great place for a celebratory meal and one that you will remember. The tasting menu - is very substantial and paired nicely with suitable wines (if you choose the wine option).
Felt safe during our COVID-19 visit. The book system was effective and reminders and confirmations sent at appropriate times.
I would definitely recommend a visit.

We had the tasting menu and paired wines. This is Indian food with a difference: not a 'curry house', but wonderfully prepared and presented delicacies.

The staff were attentive but not intrusive - the manager (owner?) also taking time to check with us and talk about the food.
This was the last evening before Second Lockdown so there was a party atmosphere - almost like a New Year's Eve gathering.
Our first time at the restaurant: will not be our last.

The food and service is always exceptional here. I used to come here before the first lockdown and post lockdown. I will continue to support them via takeaways too, however, the best experience is to dine in so you can truly enjoy the cuisine, ambience and the service.
