Located on Charleston’s Upper King Street, Indaco (Italian for “indigo”) serves rustic Italian cuisine by Executive Chef Mark Bolchoz. Wood-fired pizzas, hand-crafted pastas, housemade salami and cured sausages fill the restaurant’s menu which can be enjoyed family-style or a la carte. The massive wooden doors on Upper King Street are your first indication that Indaco is different from the typical Charleston restaurant. Overall, food was good, service was excellent, but noise level was many decibels too high. We had to essentially shout to be heard by our table mates, and observed the same at other tables. Everyone had to shout to be heard over the music, so the shouting, in turn, raised the noise level even further. It negatively affected our otherwise good experience.

Greeting at the front was great - very good table saved for us 😊. Service by Madison was excellent. Cuisine is yummmmmmmmmy - prosciutto appetizer followed by the Cavetelli and the spaghetti misto - wonderful. Good wine list - and lively ambiance - luv it.

Great service! I made a note in my reservation about bringing a couple with us that had not dined there before but were locals. The server told us she knew a couple had not been there before. Nice to see that they take pride in the specifics of customers' reservations and that their staff is well-informed. Food is always great!

The food was very good. Well prepared and presented nicely. Our waiter was conscientious and did a very good job. The acoustics in the restaurant make it difficult to converse—it’s a converted warehouse with hard surfaces everywhere.

Wonderful atmosphere, great food and fantastic service. We got the crispy potatoes, Creste do Gallo pasta, and margherita pizza. Pastas made fresh and pizzas are wood fired to order… everything was delicious. Our server knew it was my bday and even though we didn’t get dessert he still sent out a small scoop of latte flavored gelato with a candle. It was a special touch! Definitely recommend.

Everyone and everything was excellent. The staff was wonderful and patient as my guests straggled a bit to arrive and we had to move to a different table. But everyone was kind and accommodating. Alex was excellent. And the food - as always - just amazing.

The oxtail ravioli dish was awesome--well done! The ditalini nero shrimp dish was quite poor--too lemony, and the texture of the ditalini did not complement the dish. The shrimp were mediocre, which is inexcusable in Charleston. We *might* try it again and select something different, but overall it wasn't worth the price we paid.

The food was delicious! We went for brunch and had a variety of shared dishes (stuck with their regular food items, though I’m sure their brunch items were delicious). The spicy soppresata pizza was amazing - just the right amount of crunch and chew, with the mix of spicy and sweet from the honey. And the pasta was so 🤤. Will go again every time we visit Charleston!

Food was very good. Meatball appetizer had 5 meatballs and tasted good. Spicy soprasatta pizza was excellent. Broccoli pizza was good but not as good as the soprasatta. Very dark in the covered outside room. We needed an extra candle to see our menu and food.

It was Charleston Restaurant Week and Indaco did not disappoint. First time there, and we will be back. Loved the ambience. Food was outstanding. The four of us got different selections, so we tasted each other’s, and agreed that EVERYTHING was delish. Great experience.

Outstanding food and service. This will definitely go into our rotation for restaurants in Charleston. We had Italian salad, margherita pizza, creste di gallo pasta, roasted chicken, tiramisu, lemon olive oil cake with thyme glaze. Everything was perfect. Pasta dish was a little spicier than I prefer, but husband loved it.

We love coming to Indaco, but have sat in the same place for the second time right next to the door. Of course it was a freezing cold evening and the door kept opening every 2 seconds. Really put a damper on our night but we love the food, the service, wine, and everything Indaco has to offer. Just bad timing for us! We look forward to trying again!

Had a 5pm reservation but the doors did not open for 10 minutes. The food was cold and over salted. Atmosphere was nice and server was nice but the food runner was rude, rolling his eyes when asked for parmesan. This may have been a good restaurant at once but now is just a shell relying on past reputation with a staff that really does not care about the customers. Quite a shame.
