Salt the food...Use salt in the water for the Pasta!?! Over-priced...Service was a huge Cluster and not real busy...Too expensive for the food presented...Not going back...Wish them well!!!
I would highly recommend this restaurant. Authentic Italian food by an authentic Italian family!!
The food was delicious. I had the lasagna which was perfect. My wife had the eggplant which was also very good.
The issue was the service. We were seated quickly (we had a reservation), next to the guitarist vocalist speaker, which was loud based on our table. We waited 30 minutes for our waiter to come back with the bread we requested when he took our drink order and that was after my wife went up to the hostess to see if she could locate our waiter.
We will always give them another try based on the food.
A mostly excellent experience. One criticism I have was that, although our dishes were delivered to the table well chilled (salad) and quite warm (pasta), the person who served the dishes had not been properly trained, and his familiarity with English was limited. No fresh ground pepper was offered with the Caesar salad but he indicated that we could use the ground pepper shaker which was on the table. And no fresh parmesan was offered with the pasta - I asked for it and he seemed to not understand what I was requesting. After repeating my request several times, and acting out the sprinkling of cheese, he finally did understand and brought it. The waiter, after quite a delay after each of the salad and then the pasta were served, came by and asked if we wanted fresh ground pepper for the salad ... we said it was too late as we had already used the pepper shaker. And asked if we wanted fresh parmesan for the pasta, I said that I had requested, and received, that from the person who brought the warm pasta dish.
Also, I loved sitting on the patio but cigar smoke from the next door cigar shop came wafting to my table, it was not real strong but I am sensitive to smoke.
Everything was fine except slow getting main course.
My friend and I have been here before and we love the place. The food is great. If it can get a little noisy... but we will definitely come back
Not too many choices for selections and the place is too small for a buffett line.
We love this restaurant. The staff is so friendly, accommodating and the food is WONDERFUL. This is our go to place for anniversaries and nice occasions. Live music on the patio made a great vibe and we already can't wait to come back.
Had a great experience at Encontro and will definitely go back. The bar served delicious drinks and the food in the restaurant excellent as well. Nothing disappointing about our night out.
Food was fabulous! Service a bit slow. Love the ambience of the outdoor seating
Our waiter was just outstanding! Food was delicious. We sat outside on the porch and weather couldn’t have been better!
That's wonderful, thank you for the great review. The porch is our favorite seat in the restaurant.
Been going to Incontro for years and it never disappoints.
Thank you so much!!
Great ambiance, terrific live music, excellent grub!
Our service on 7/19/19 was horrible in the outside space. Good food and menu but experience ruined by very poor service.
We are very disappointing that you had a bad experience. We aim to please all our guests and if we missed it with you this time, we hope you give us a chance to correct it next time.
Extremely pricey. Guess it goes with the neighborhood.
Thank you for our feedback. We use only fresh high quality ingredients which is what gives our food the best flavor possible. We source from top quality and local suppliers which sometimes can be costly.
Great food and great service. Portions a bit on the small side.
Thank you for your feedback!
Our waiter was very inattentive and standoffish. I believe he had too many tables one of which (by the fire pit) was a large group of very loud ladies which made our nice romantic dinner not so nice. He never said hello just "what do you want to drink"? Took our appetizer request (when I had to ask him if we could order something with our cocktails) and then we sat for over 30 minutes before he came back to take our dinner order and that was after asking the busboy to get him. I couldn't eat my entire entree and asked for a box which he never brought back until we paid our bill and we asked where our lasagna was. No I am sorry, nothing. He said, "hummm I wonder where it is"? It was our anniversary, it was noted in the Open Table reservation, but there was never any mention of it or happy anniversary on our paid dessert. Food was good. Service was not up to their standards.
We are so sorry you had a back experience. We aim to please all our guests. We hope you give us a chance for earn a 5 star review.
Sat out on the patio on a warm summer evening. Both of us are gluten free and our dishes did not disappoint. Super yummy brussel sprouts for an appetizer and we both had gluten free pasta dishes finished off with a gluten free dessert. Heaven!
Thank you! We look forward to your next visit.
Best restaurant for the 4th of July to observe the parade. Great food any day.
Great, wonderful food, wonderful service, wonderful atmosphere
Thank you so much!
Always good and consistent in the food and service. Today was especially slow since most locals are on vacation during this time.
This restaurant used to have amazing food, this visit it was just fair at best...very disappointing
Had dinner Saturday night. The service wasn’t up to par; had to wait for a server to finally take our order, food was ok but the servings were small. We both had pasta and had to ask server for Parmesan cheese. Took a while to get cheese. Focaccia bread was stale. I was disappointed with the meal and probably will not return.
Great food great service favorite restaurant will always come back
Thank you! Looking forward to seeing you again.
Celebrating school project completion.
Mimosas are great
We agree, a mimosa is the best accompaniment to brunch.
Server was not not as attentive as expected.
Thank you for your comment. We will work on that.
Nice location, friendly staff, delicious presentation and hearty entrees. My husband and I enjoyed our group dinner of 6 people. Jeff, our waiter, recommended the perfect wine pairing (Jeff Carr, Napa) that was a nice surprise after having a lovely Italian wine. We'll be back!
Thank you for your great review. We look forward to your next visit.
Both mine and my wife’s main course was very salty. Can’t say it was bad or good. I will give props to the beet salad as that was delicious.
Unfortunately it really missed the mark. Food was just fine, but nothing to rave about. There were two servers on a Friday night. How do I know? Our waitress told us that it was only her and someone else. Service was therefore sacrificed and everything was timed very poorly.
So sorry we missed the mark for you while dining with us. We sure hope you come back for a five star experience.
Pros: Outside seating is quieter and very pleasant. Live music (singer) on weekends.
Cons: Overpriced for mediocre food. Had the cauliflower as an appetizer, small portion for $8, overcooked and boring. For dinner we chose the cappelini with fresh tomatoes and shrimp. It was tasty, but had a sticky consistency, and the shrimp were very small. Lease expensive bottle of wine, $38 for Malbec.
There are other better options.
We are so glad you enjoyed the outside patio and the live music. However, we are disappointed that you did not enjoy the food as much. We hope you will try us again for a five star experience.
Good all around experience
We have been here many times and I felt a little ignored this time. Our reservation was later in the evening and the restaurant cleared out pretty much before we even ordered. We were enjoying the company and a cocktail so it didn't bother us to much , I just think the waiter may have been really busy.
Thank you for letting us know. We aim to take care of all our guests timely, and apologize that we missed the mark this time. We hope you will join us again for a five star experience.
A wonderful restaurant for everyday and special occasion dining! The cocktails - especially the white wine sangria and peach mule - were enjoyable and not something available at other places. The spicy calamari was a very nice appetizer dish - most notable is the broth/sauce. While we really like both pasta courses, the linguine with clams dish was a very simple but extremely delicious course. All of "Secondi" choices were liked by all. However, the scallops - both in flavor and presentation - was the table winner.
Thank you very much for the great review. The cocktails and dishes you mentioned are all popular. Looking forward to your next visit.
our service was very slow but food and ambiance were great
Thank you for the feedback. We will work on improving that. We look forward to your next visit.
Best place in the east bay
Owners are the best
We dined outside on a moderately cool Saturday evening in early June, and we were quite comfortable. 7 of us celebrating a birthday. Live music outside was very nice. Service started out slow but the waiter became engaged and ended up doing quite well. Drinks were okay, not overly special. Food was good overall - some excellent pasta dishes, the appetizers were average. The restaurant provided a piece of a yummy cheesecake type of dessert for the birthday celebration. Overall a very nice experience and we would go back.
We went to Sunday Brunch with some friends who live in Danville on 5/24/19. Incontro Ristorante was a cool and inviting place that reminded us of going to a friend's house to eat. (Parking lot in the back of the restaurant is a plus). We were seated in what looked like a "wine room" off of the bar, which was beautiful, warm, and inviting. The breakfast buffet was set up in the adjoining room. There was a waffle & omelet bar and then 2 long tables with lots of food choices. Fresh fruit, fresh pastries, bacon, sausage, amazing tortellini, chicken Marsala, seafood pasta, a yogurt station, it was a beautiful selection of freshly prepared food, without being too much. Our Waiter, Jesus was lovely and very attentive!! Oh, and did I mention the price of Brunch includes Mamosas or coffee. At only $22.99 per person, this was a wonderful place to have a Sunday Brunch, and I'd love to go back to for dinner some time. Incontro also has outdoor seating in their patio area for when the weather is nice. The Owner was there as we left to ask if everything was good with our Brunch, and invited us back again when the weather is nice, he said there's music in the patio area. When in the area, I would definitely recommend Incontro.
The restaurant was quite busy and yet they had two servers. Our party of five was given meals at different time. Nothing was coordinated at all. My friend said she no longer wanted her pasta that came with her meal and the server had the nerve to tell her life was too short to be angry. She wasn’t even angry. She just told him it was too late and most of her meal had been eaten. The whole evening was a disappointment and I won’t return.
