   Needs an update to furniture and space. Great value on food and wine selection was fabulous. Our server was fantastic. He was the bartender, the busser, the server, and the cook but he still did service with a smile and a skip to his step. Great job!

   The first time I visited In the Red Wine Bar, it was a dark and cozy night and the lights glowed just right on every table; the din was a happy one; and the scent of all those delicious bites was as inviting as the warmth of the entire space. This time, five of us arrived early, before dark. Still charming and cozy, it wasn't quite as magical. We would soon find out why. The owner was having a rough day. Every wine we ordered, he had not received from his supplier. When we asked for a candle, he said he had none at the moment. He said no to coupons, forgot someone's order completely, and apologetically warned us the service would be slow on the food because he also had no cook. This is no way to run a restaurant, but the show must go on, and he made it work. My girlfriends and I are still laughing about the "no's" that greeted almost every request we had. But we still had good wine from the stock on hand, and the food came out savory enough, considering he is not a cook. We laughed and toasted and had a great time, knowing we would be happy coming back on a better day.

   We were looking for a good place north of Ballard on a Friday night where we could hear ourselves and WE WON! The food was very tasty from the generous and nicely arrayed charcuterie platter to the smoked sardines and the roasted dates. This is a wine bar right now but they are expanding to a full bar very soon. We happened to be there on an Art Walk night so the environment was very pleasant. We will be back soon.

   We enjoyed a flavorful and varied cheese plate with a generously poured glass of exceptional red. Followed by a shared Cesar salad and a hummus plate. Oh, and several more glass of wine. All the food was well presented and delicious. Our server was friendly and attentive. We sat outside because it was blazing hot and it was a little loud, but that didn't keep us from having a lovely time.
