As an exhibition restaurant at SFMOMA, In Situ works directly with chefs and restaurants from around the world to faithfully execute their recipes. The revolving menu features dishes from culinary influencers, innovators, and icons. The recipient of one Michelin star, this collaborative project reimagines the traditional model of a restaurant to offer a unique cultural experience within the museum. We serve a prix fixe menu and during lunch, an à la carte menu is also available. Please note that to accurately represent these dishes, we're unable to accommodate modifications.

The food was an amazing display of art. It was also so delicious.
Food just wasn't that good. Several dishes too salty. I had high expectations and think the concept is great but they didn't execute in a city with so many great dining options.
Great lunch. Unexpected. Creative. Casual ambiance. Every plate was artistic and delicious. A visit is a must. Conveniently located next door to the museum.
the carrot soup was a 10 star, the fish was a one star. the dessert was 5 stars

Rarely do I finish a dinner without finding fault with something, however minor. Too hot, too cold, too salty, not enough pepper, and so on. Tonight's dinner at In Situ was perfect. The food, our server Chris, the jazz in the background---everything was flawless. Thank you In Situ.

Perfectly situated at SFMOMA, In Situ dishes were varietal in global cuisine and deliciously fantastic! Excellent tapioca cheese fritters, chive and basil pancake, potato and roe, lettuce cup salad, and sea bream—a must! Also loved the decor and super comfortable couches! Great experience!

Good, not great. Creative, interesting menu, but most arrived warm (not hot) as if made in advance and reheated, and portions not generous.
Convenient if you're at MOMA, but not worth a visit just to eat.
Oh, and if you want to leave a gratuity in addition to the "NOT A GRATUITY 20%", it's very hard to add to a credit card payment.
This is our 2nd time come back here. We always could not forget" the Korean Fermented bean paste" served with the KOREAN BBQ pork, which is so fragrant after you chew the rice and meat together, harmony ~~~

Phenomenal experience with amazing food. Every dish was presented so thoughtfully and every bite had an abundance of flavor. Would definitely go again & recommend to others.
For a Michelin star restaurant we were really expecting the best. Unfortunately each dish was lackluster. The curry chive pancakes were flimsy and bland. The dill-brined cabbage was also bland and tough. The lettuce cup salad was simple iceberg with ordinary radish slices and the chicken on the side was scant and overcooked to the point it was chewy. The post sausage and rice cakes was substantial but way too salty. Even the desserts disappointed. The smoked sage brownie was dry and the sage was too subtle. My expectations were not met in the slightest. I hope In Situ will consider this comment and do some quality control.
Absolutely amazing food - the carrot soup, the tapioca critters and the bread with browned butter - oh my god!!! To die for!!! The service was very good as well, the interior design is Scandinavian/reduced and beautiful. Most importantly, the sound panels are amazing and so worth it!
Loved it. The food was excellent. The perfect stop for a lovely late lunch after a morning of great art.
Everything was well done the service the atmosphere and we loved our table right by the window. Each dish with a new surprise especially the shrimp toast and the carrot soup. I will run restaurant smooth and easy a great place to land in a busy city after a fun day.
We arrived at the restaurant, a bit early, with full excitement and of course great expectation of a Michelin culinary art kitchen. Unfortunately the experience was a bit of an unexpected disappointment. We took advantage of the SF restaurant week and ordered the three-course set dinner. Beautiful presentation, I must admit, but the food did not match up in taste to the way it appealed to the eye. The main course that we ordered was sea bream stuffed with shrimp. The fish tasted really smelly and there was hardly any shrimp ( or even taste of it) we could find. The fried chicken nuggets served on a nest of pine twigs and needles were acceptable— perhaps a bit better than what the colonel would offer. And, with that remnant fishy taste lingering in my mouth, I didn’t feel like having any appetite for the dessert. BUT, the soup, our first course, an exquisite caramelised carrot soup with a light layer of coconut foam, was really out of this world. If we ever would return, this would be the reason why. But, why pay over a hundred dollars (dinner and drink) for a very small bowl of soup?
The Sea Bream Stuffed with Shrimp was bad...other than that, I like this place!

We enjoyed our late lunch but, to be candid, the items weren't of the same caliber we'd had at In Situ before. Previously, I'd told others the portions were small but worth it because of their creativity and quality. I wouldn't say that about Saturday's meal. I'll assume this was a one-off and not indicative of a trend downward.

It’s a good restaurant but too pricey. There are same quality restaurants for much less money.

Superb experience (my third, the first for the other 3 members in my party). Food is tasty , small but appropriate quantities. Interesting mix of sources and types of food. Menu is interesting with descriptions of where menu items came from. Loved the quiet, allowing us over-sixty-ers to heat one another without difficulty. In Situ delivered a little birthday cake and candle at dessert tine to the man whose birthday we were celebrating. Only disappointment (a tiny one) was the vodka martini—too small and dilute, missing the requested twist of lemon, though the olives were plentiful. None of the featured cocktails had a vodka base. But overall, an AAAAA dining experience, one I hope to repeat again soon.
FANTASTIC FLAVORS! Everything we had at In Situ was beyond incredible. Key highlights: carrot soup, lobster carpaccio, potato and roe, and filet of beef.

Service and atmosphere are top notch but I cannot figure out how they have a Michelin star. Food was disjointed, at best. The tapoica app was recommended by the server was completely bland and the dipping sauce too sweet. One highlight was the cabbage dish. Everything else was underwhelming. Very pricey for the portions too.

It’s my favorite place to go in SF! Because it’s located in the Museum of Modern Art, it’s a nice destination lunch or dinner. The menu is devised from recipes around the world. Be sure to try the carrot soup...it comes in a shot glass.
Nothing was tasty. Food was “overworked” and pretentious. Flavors were tired and too sweet. Service was attentive — so attentive, we were constantly asked if we wanted more wine, even though we still had half of their small pour in our glasses. It is a lovely, quiet atmosphere, if a bit austere. In Situ is very expensive for the dining experience offered.

Quite good food. Seemed rather expensive. 20% “non gratuity” added to the bill which seemed a bit strange.

One of our party didn’t care for and couldn’t eat her stuffed fish dish. As it was to fishy tasting.
It was placed in the middle of the table for anyone to enjoy.
None of the servers noticed and asked if there was problem or if there was another dish she would prefer.
She went without any food.
In a high end establishment customers needs should be priority. Servers should be able to make sure food and experience is at the top of there list.

Fantastic concept, with amazing food. I love the high quality and high variety. Their service needs to improve; their staff are not enthusiastic about the meals they are serving.
We have eaten at the restaurant before but were thrilled when our very discerning friends adored it too. raves all around with plans to replicate the caviar and potato recipe.
