In Bloom Ratings and Reviews
In Bloom is the latest incarnation of restaurant concept for this location. The menu offerings are a bit more diverse and interesting. For those who had some favorite dishes from Live2Eat, you may recognize similar ones popping up on the menu. The risotto fritters were fantastic. The fish tacos (with very fresh/regional black sea bass, served whole and fried) were updated with Asian flavors, which we loved. The service was attentive and friendly, perhaps a bit too casual. The kitchen had an abrasive burning smell that filled the dining room (kind of like when you set your oven to clean mode). But overall the experience was nice, we'll certainly plan to come back.
The food was wonderful...monkfish, stuffed chicken, calamari and let us not forget those dreamy risotto fritters! The service was friendly, knowledgeable and on point for the whole evening. We visit Baltimore often, and will surely include this restaurant again and again.
Formerly "Liv2Eat" (I welcome the name change, frankly...), this restaurant is even better than before. They now have a menu that caters to changing often in order to use the best seasonal ingredients. I personally love this, as I tend to gravitate towards anything on the menu/specials that I haven't had before.
I had the grilled octopus, and my girlfriend got the short rib. Both were fantastic. The calamari appetizer was sauteed rather than fried, and cooked to perfection.
Will be back again!
The food was incredible! We sat on the patio and there were two kids running around pretending to shoot each other and hiding behind my fiance and I....unfortunately it was his birthday and that was distracting and pretty frustrating. The support staff also seemed very disorganized and we had several plates delivered to our table that weren't ours. Our server was nice but I overheard the staff in the alley behind us saying some unsavory things about guests so that was uncomfortable.
Baltimore Restaurant Week. Wait staff: very attentive & informed. Appetizers: delicious (fritters & mussels w/ crusty bread for the broth -Yum!) Entree: poorly butchered flatiron (silver skin intact) and slightly under cooked for medium well and medium rare (perhaps rushing to get them out simultaneously and misjudged the thickness) sides: fine. Desserts: excellent chocolate chip cookie bars served w/micro vanilla shake (perfect) and the best root beer float! It was a bit chilly and the speaker music was very loud which caused a party at another table to shout over it. We gave up on conversation. These are easy fixes and we'll be back again.
We arrived at 7:50 for a 7:45 reservation (parking issues). Our table wasn't ready. There were tons of tables available, and our hostess said she'd check to see if it was ready. We never saw her again. I got up at 8pm to see what the story was, and then someone said, "Oh, I'm just cleaning off your table."
Our waiter took our order quickly and brought our first course (we ordered all 3 of the prix fixe up front). The 2nd course took 35 minutes and didn't include all the items described on the restaurant's website (my dish was pretty much fish and corn... ). We pointed that out to the server and he said "Oh, sorry." Our dessert took another 10-15 minutes, even though we'd ordered it up front. We were late for our concert.
The food was good enough. But the service was definitely MEH.
Limited menu. Lack of lighting on patio. They could have purchased a few battery operated lanterns or string lights but did nothing to improve the situation. Service should have been impeccable to make up for the problems but it was not. They did take a round of drinks off the bill to try to make up for it but it was a bit late at that point.
Food was well prepared with good fresh local produce. Would have liked to have seen a few more choices both of entrees and and side dishes. Considering they emphasize 'farm to table', how about staying at the farm a bit longer and picking up a few more things.
An unfortunate experience. Been here before and had a very good meal outdoors. This time, the kitchen was insanely slow (another couple sat down and had drinks, app and entree between the time we received salad and our very late and rewarmed entrees), and the food really mediocre. No real apology and nothing taken off the check. Waiter Could have asked us During our 45 minutes wait to see if we needed another drink while we waited. Not sure I'll go back. Mushroom soup was good if a bit salty, and waiter was certainly nice, though not very knowledgeable or understanding.
This place can be described as adequate - nothing special on the menu (nothing that this restarurant was known for etc.) , the food was all executed adequately (save an asparagus salad which was exceptional). They sat us in a bar area dominated by a loud TV and there was a constant stream of people going into and out of the restaurant - strange. Our waitress was skittish. I would have a hard time recommending this restaurant to anyone.
This place just keeps disappointing. The menu is overall boring, there was literally not a single vegetarian option, and it seemed overpriced. Service was aloof, and we could not get our check. When I finally went to the bar to pay, our server didn't even apologize for the wait. I've been several times, each time hoping for improvement, and each time it's a little worse. This is the last time.
The few things that I had an issue with is that we came in at the tail end of brunch hour and the brunch offerings were not remotely warm and some cases just cold and we were eating the last of everything and still getting charged the full price when I was concerned that the food was just sitting out for a while.
