To that spirit, we are bringing to Downtown Hanover NH a brand new restaurant…..a sister restaurant to the three-decades-old Murphy’s on the Green (est May 5th 1992) right on Main Street.
Impasto Italian Eatery opens to the Public on Thursday, May 20, 2021. Come and enjoy our tasty menu. Some traditional dishes and many that have our own twist. Our team of culinary professionals creates mouthwatering food! Talk to them in person in our open kitchen……up close and personal.
Enjoy our specialty cocktails, divine wine, quality beers, and more in Impasto Café.
We look forward to seeing and serving you.
Service was good; food was uneven. The meatballs and the special flatbread were very good. So was the fig and prosciutto salad. Penne alla vodka was gummy and pretty much inedible. Kind of mystifying that a place that focuses on pasta can’t get a basic dish like that down. Lobster risotto was dry and lobster-less. Carbonara was fine, but not really carbonara.
waitress was amazing. made the night. food was good
Great place in Hanover for slightly more refined Italian - still casual, but better than your average pizza/pasta joint. Drink rec - try the lavender spritz!
Food was excellent, great atmosphere, and loved our bartender/server. He was very busy but was still able to make us feel special!
This is a special meal.... the vibe is hip and relaxed, the staff is attentive and friendly, and the food is superb!
This was our 2nd visit in 2 weeks and it was perfect for dining outside. Service and food were excellent.
Food was of uneven quality. Antipasto was excellent with interesting selection of cured meats and cheese; pasta was fine but not exceptional; and desserts weren’t very good. Next time would try the flatbreads which looked interesting. The restaurant is relatively new so probably has kinks to work out and is doubtless suffering from the same labor shortage as most restaurants. We will give it another try.
We had a great dinner- food was delicious! Definitely highly recommend!
Fantastic and first-rate restaurant! The best of Hanover.
Waitress and other front end staff were fantastic! Appropriate check-ins for needs, not obnoxiously ever-present as in some restaurants. But we never were left waiting to ask for assistance. Front end staff are obviously watching carefully.
We were seated (by choice) at high table in less noisy area. My companion and I still had to repeat ourselves frequently while talking. I would suggest hiring a sound specialist to advise on better noise dampening throughout.
Food was great. Beet salad and wild mushroom flatbreads for both of us. Assistance with wine selection? Spot on. KUDOS Nigel and partners for opening Impasto.
Loved it. Will definitely be a regular. Food was great and delicious.
The carbonara was delicious! The cannolis were the perfect ending to a fantastic meal.
Pros: great bread, great server (Devin?) great atmosphere, great martinis/drinks.
Cons: the host has a chip on his shoulder, very cold greeting, laughable. I had to practically wave in his face (right next to him) for him to acknowledge/welcome us. The food quality is a little disappointing (the pasta dishes).
We will be back though!
We were inside, which was pretty noisy (they are continuing to work on that.) The restaurant has only been open a few weeks. Food was excellent-- we had a shared Pig & Fig Salad (scrumptious!) and Shrimp Scampi with Angel Hair Pasta (light, yummy, and just the right spice.) We shared a berry crostata for desert.
the drink I had was OK, but only so-so-- not as flavorful as I expected.
Good service, and overall I would give it a 4.5-- pretty good for a new place!
Great casual restaurant. Former site of the (much loved) Market Table, a victim of the pandemic. The space is lovely: the new decor is nicely done, with corrugated iron accents on the bar and wood and iron stools. Really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service; I could tell this was an experienced team and they took great care of us.
The food was the only weakness for me. Our antipasto starter was notably poor: pickled grapes (I think), a hard cured salami, small cubes of completely tasteless feta cheese and some quite fresh real mozzarella. It was randomly scattered over the plate and whatever effect they were going for there was lost on me. I would have liked to have seen olives, sun dried tomatoes, artichokes etc, and real toasted bread instead of what seemed like pre-packaged crisp bread.
I was excited about my main course: duck confit with mushrooms and gnocchi. A bit high end and not something I make at home, but the richness of the sauce wasn’t there (a flour and water paste feel) and the duck lacked flavor. The carbonara was good with generous chunks of ham. The portion sizes were good: not the huge quantities you often see at Italian restaurants. The dessert choice was also limited.
Having said this, I will definitely return to Impasto, especially with my kids - to try the flatbreads, but maybe some of the dishes need a rethink. I liked the people and the atmosphere, and I hope the menu will continue to evolve.
Went here on a double date and it was great! The food is excellent, they are willing to accommodate requests (I got my pasta vegetarian), the service is excellent and overall it is great value. I will definitely be coming back!
Very nice! Second time we have been there and delightful!
First time visit to IMPASTO. Glad I went, but there were a few little quirks. My food was fantastic Steak Pizzaiola. I was told that the carbona (which I originally wanted, but wasn't allowed to add a side of chicken) was bland. My daughter wasn't impressed with her alfredo (bland), but the chicken in it was tasty. The bruschetta was burnt and the the take out order came out before our meals which doesn't make sense. It should have come out last and instead it had to sit on the table while we ate our food. The focaccia bread was awesome and the beet salad was a hit for my friend. The server who was really nice, had hard time splitting our checks and seemed a little annoyed that we asked for it split. Overall, it was good. I would go back again to give it another shot and hopefully, up my review.
Good food good prices!
Very accommodating to vegetarians. The carbonara was slightly under salted when ordered w/o the pancetta (of course, as that’s a salty meat) but they had no issue providing supplemental salt.
Also Note the pasta is made in house and so is softer/smoother than you may be used to. It’s delicious (better than dehydrated store bought stuff) but different than you may be used to.
Service was very good - water never less than half full kind of service.
A fantastic addition to Hanover’s restaurant/bar scene.
Servers need some training not to remove one person’s plates while other diner still eating.
Lovely ambiance, fantastic waitstaff and service.
The food is deeply subpar. Gnocchi like mashed potatoes, floppy pizza, bread that seemed like it had been microwaved.
Maybe a bad day, but I wouldn't return for the food.
Our first time at Impasto and were were thoroughly impressed with the food, service and atmosphere. Highly recommend!
What a great find in Hanover. Feels like you’re in New York with a great menu and excellent service. A must try!
food is ok , Not sure that I would consider this an Italian restaurant. They don not have gluten free items on their menu.
We are 4 foodies. All of us had a delicious dinner, appreciated the diverse options including creative vegan choices. Connor was an excellent server, very knowledgeable about the food , timely but not trying to be our “best friend”! Definitely coming back!
We were there early, so it was quiet. The service was great and food was wonderful. I look forward to our next visit.
The food was disappointing. Unwilling to modify orders. Flavors were underwhelming. Service was good, friendly and timely.
Delishious food! Waitress was professional and friendly. We thoroughly enjoyed our experience and are anxious to return soon!!
Good food. More vegetarian choices and lighter fare would be welcome.
Enjoyed a new Hanover experience! Food was very good. I had the beet salad and swordfish entree. Overall very pleased.
Great menu & outstanding service. 3 of us went on a Friday night & sat outside on the patio. Wine selection was adequate, beet salad was very good, & our dinners were good. Duck confit gnocchi was the biggest hit. Salmon picatta & shrimp scampi were "dry" for our taste... pasta was cooked well, and seafood was cooked exceptionally well but more sauce would have been appreciated. We'll go back & try other dishes soon.
Bland flavors. Shrimp tasted “musty” atop pleasant enough pasta. This is my second visit. The wine list is mediocre. I’m hearing the same disappointment from others in town.
Salad crisp and appealing.
It strikes some of us that there’s a higher concept and hype
than the skill provides.
We wish it were better. Maybe in time?
Amazing food and fabulous service. Out server, Simon, was really friendly and attentive and the owner, Nigel, stopped by at the tables to chat and make sure everyone was satisfied. We had a lovely evening. Can't wait to go there again :)
Authentic tasty Italian food! Try it i bet you will like! Nice wine list too. Large party was very noisy in room is our only complaint.
This was our first time here- really good experience. The service was excellent, the food was very good. We enjoyed it very much.
Food was really great. I’m so happy there is another pasta place around!
Pizza was bland as was the shrimp scampi
I didn’t think the quality met up to the cost of the meal. The shrimp scampi was over spicy and my pasta dish didn’t feel fulfilling, even after sharing two appetizers. Is probably go to another local Italian restaurant before this one again.
New restaurant in town...fun to sit outside on a pleasant evening...excellent service by Connor and really good main courses, especially the salmon on pasta with broccoli rabe...
