    Il Tinello is always on our short list when we come to NYC several times year. The venue is readily accessed in Midtown near several subway lines. Service as always is superb, professional and efficient. The food is excellent with specials available daily in addition to the regular menu. Salads are notable, but be warned, the complimentary grilled pepper is hot. Wine list is primarily Italian and runs on the expensive side, with most being well above $100/bottle. However a smaller selection of wine by the glass is available. Strong recommendation for the catches of the day and the veal dishes. Finally if you need something "special" done that isn't on the menu they will try their hardest to accommodate. Smaller size of the restaurant and sound level make it possible to enjoy an evening of conversation.

    Outstanding meal. Wonderful service. Jesus was so attentive and professional. Used to be my go to restaurant when I lived in Manhattan. So glad we stopped in again after so many years. We will be returning soon.

    Dining at Il Tinello is an excellent way to spend an evening in NYC. The food, service and ambience are all outstanding. I had two specials. My appetizer was bay scallops in a cognac sauce. My main course was four cheese ravioli in a garlic and oil sauce and with cherry tomatoes. My wife had the burrata mozzarella for an appetizer and halibut martini for her main course. The tartufo and Italian cheese cake desserts were delicious. If you're looking for an upscale experience with delicious food and a wine list to match, try Il Tinello. You won't be disappointed.

    Fabulous food and service. Friendly, congenial staff. The waiter remembered us from our previous visit He even talked to us a bit about Italy. Salads, halibut, and tartufo were excellent.

    Very fresh and great quality. Buffala mozzarella ravioli was so delicious. Seafood salad was excellent. Must try the Ricotta cheesecake or Tiramisu. Will be back.

    An exceptional choice . Food, service and ambiance - all first class. There are very few restaurants remain that maintain the standards of Il Tinello. Friendly host, attentive servers dressed in white dinner jackets, very extensive menu with many additional specials and great wine list. Strongly recommend it.

    Excellent food, outstanding service and an exceptional Maitre D who may well be the owner given the attention he gave to all the tables. Menu is extensive, tables are not crammed together and the subdued noise level makes this an ideal place for a business dinner. New York prices so be prepared for that. Otherwise cannot fault it.

    Continental atmosphere in a classic Italian bistro setting. As traditional and professional as it gets - the peak of classical Italian cuisine and pro service. Sure, it’s great for a business lunch or dinner, but take your SO or BFFs out for a fabulous meal.

    A disappointment. The service and ambiance was excellent. The food however, was consistently mediocre. We tried different items on the menu and found nothing that had a quality taste or specialness to it. They get serious money for these dishes that isn’t has good as that found in a busy diner that can provide fresh ingredients in standard fare. You’ll find this review to be pretty accurate. Fine wine list, however.

    Everything was wonderful - unfortunately, the AC was not working while we were dining there and it was quite hot. They brought us free glasses of champagne to help with the heat!

    Our first visit to this wonderful restaurant only a few blocks fro our stay at The Warwick. Service was perfection, as was the food! We had a late dinner after a very long day and it was just a delightful & relaxing . My husband especially enjoyed their eggplant dish.

    We were late arriving for dinner after a Broadway production last night. Welcomed us w open arms — ordered and had a typical fantastic meal at Il Tinello. Never rushed us — treated us like family. No wonder this is our favorite NYC restaurant.

    Very disappointed. We thought the food would be some of the best given other reviews but sadly it was not. Cold seafood appetizer at $29.95 was tasteless. Octopus was unrecognizable in a brown sauce. Veal Chop also tasteless. Swordfish Livorneze also with a brown sauce and not what livorneze should be. Very expensive and definitely not worth the money.

    The service was exceptional . The food amazing. I had blue point oysters and for entree the rigatoni with mozzerella. My husband had burrata and the chicken special. We live in Long Island and had come into the city to see a show. We would honestly make the trip just to eat at this restaurant.

    There are so many things that Il Tinello on West 56th St does “right” it is hard to get them all into a single review – but I will try. When you walk in the first thing you notice is the ambiance. If you are looking for loud and hip, go elsewhere. Il Tinello is a classic. Wood, mirrors and white table cloths. The tables are in a pattern which allows each party to enjoy their meal and conversation without sharing either with those close by – and while not hushed, it is comfortably quiet. After you are seated you are immediately provided with a complementary (and delicious) offering of bruschetta along with a plate of spectacular (and hot!) peppers. As to the rest of the food, the menu is too extensive for me to have claimed to have tasted it all but I can tell you the Dover sole is outstanding, my wife thought the Bronzino was the best she ever had, my mother-in-law is still talking about the seafood fra diavolo and any Italian Grandmother would be proud if her manicotti tasted as good. To make the Il Tinello experience complete is the waitstaff. Not only do they have years (if not decades) of experience but you get the feeling this is not just a job for them but a profession. They like what they do and treat their guests accordingly. Go and enjoy!
