A top notch restaurant!! The food is superb and the wait staff and the owner complete the experience.
Ate outside. Noise and ambiance were what is to be expected.
Beautiful view, right along the watefront. Amazing burratta, and great service!
Fantastic food and wonderful service. Lovely to sit next to the river.
We have eaten at Il Terrazzo many times! We keep coming back because it’s excellent in every way. The food is consistently good, the service is excellent (we are “regulars” and enjoy seeing wait staff every time we go), and staff remembers our drink preferences! We enjoy eating outside on the RiverPlace Esplanade. The view is lovely and the people-watching always fun. This our go-to place!
Our go to place. Michael and his staff are great. Great service. Great food and drinks. And the river view is one of the best when outside dining.
Honestly I really have not much expectation because it is hard to find tables for a large party. While the decor of the restaurant was nice, the limited menu and tasteless food pretty much ruined the dinner experience. The Beef Stew was tasteless and the meat were not tender. I had a seafood dish and the actual dish did not match the menu. The dish was basically tasteless again. The only acceptable dish was the Bolognese. I will not return to Il Terrazzo again and you should not even bother with it.
Soupy, Tough, Bland, AND Over-Priced!
When we entered Il Terrazzo, we immediately noticed that it was only about 1/3 as busy as the other restaurants that bordered it, but we felt maybe we had just gotten lucky and caught a lull. By the time we left, we understood why it was only frequented by the naive tourist that stumbled into this awful place.
My wife’s beef entre was in a stew and yet as dry as dry can be (that’s actually hard to do). My pasta dish was swimming in a sea of bland liquid. Everything came to the table microwaved (you cannot get pasta that lava hot without a microwave), and it seems that steamed tomatoes are the restaurant’s “go-to” everything solution as it dominated our dishes…in a really unpleasant way.
My wife had both her salad order forgotten and her dish-accompanying toasted bread forgotten (although promised twice). When I sat down, I was mistakenly (to give them the benefit of the doubt) given the lunch menu, and so at the final check, I was amazed to find prices were much more because they were the actual dinner level prices. I would not have minded much if the food had been at all tasty. We left 70% on the plate. All we could think of during our meal was “Let’s eat what we can stomach and get out of here.”
How this place got so many good reviews is an absolute mystery to me. Maybe tourists just want to drink wine, and don’t care that much? It’s baffling. Stay away. Portland has so many other wonderful choices that to come here is, well, you have been warned.
We had a wonderful time and the food was incredible! It was the perfect space ..great view & ambience..chairs so comfy for an unhurried dinner with friends AND then there is the food !!!! Can’t stop telling all my foodie friends about it ....we all wanted to come back & order the antipasti as a main!!! Thanks owner chef Michael to take time to talk about your passion...I will be a regular!!!
Loved the fresh pasta! Server was great and the alcohol was amazing
Enjoyed our evening and the waitress was wonderful to us, food was good, a beautiful night overlooking the marina, perfect.
I got the lasagna and my wife spaghetti. The base is a beef flavor vs tomato. I thought both tasted like beef stew. Not what I want in Italian food.
Fairly awful - service extremely lacking, food quality ok, but waitress appeared to be in a different World!
Won’t be back...very disappointing.
Party of 5 all sat by 6:05, order not taken until 6:30, at 7:20 we still had not received our food and had to leave without eating to make our event. Paid for our wine and appetizer. The waitress was extremely accusatory and defensive blaming us being late (reservation at 6 and one member of our party was sat at 5:45) as the reason for us not receiving service and the long food wait. She made an unnecessary and rude comment while my husband was paying the bill that turned us off from ever returning. Unfortunate as I’ve been in the past and the food was delicious.
Excellent care and attention to our needs. Delicious food.
4th of July double date night with dear friends! Fantastic food and, quite literally, the beat seat in the house for fireworks!!!
I thought the prices were quite high. And the dish I ordered was good, but not exquisite, as I'd expect a $26 plate of ravioli to be. I don't dine out often as I can't afford to, so I expect it to be something I'd never cook at home and something delicious. This didn't quite measure up, plus service was a bit slow though we did have plenty of time to finish our meal.
Overlooking the willamette
My husband and I wanted a low key Italian meal so chose this location on the riverfront. The place was not busy but they did have one half of the restaurant blocked off for a private party. Service was friendly but inattentive. Not much ambiance. I got the Pollo Cacciatore which was tasty but my husband got the lasagna which was doughy and tasteless. He barely ate any of it but no one seemed to take note of that. He did have a Cesar salad as a starter which was ok. We each had a glass of wine with dinner but were empty for quite awhile before anyone asked whether we wanted another. Decided we would rather give that business to a place which was more alert to our needs. Seemed as though we had to ask for all the basics—Parmesan cheese, black pepper, more olive oil/balsamic for bread. Wouldn’t go back.
This place never disappoints. I try a new menu item each visit and am always most pleased. Sit outside if you can and the weather is conducive. Always great service. Always great food. Always great wine. Outstanding!!
The experience was great overall! However we had a reservation and everything seemed slow. Our meal was wonderful! The waitress was very friendly. However it took extra time to get our drinks. We shared a bottle of wine? The salad took long waiting for crotons. The waitress came out at least 3 times explaining the delay. Finally had main course first. She could have suggested we choose a different salad. Then there was a wait for the serving spoon for the pasta. Just little things
Have eaten here twice and was impressed both times. The Chef does an excellent job, and makes it a point to come out and greet his guests. Authentic Latium and south Italian cuisine in an intimate setting.
This is our go to when in Portland! Always wonderful!
The best authentic Italian food. Michael, the owner, was amazing, friendly and knowledgeable about the wines and foods. Amazing, amazing! I will definitely be back!
This Italian restaurant is set on the waterfront and is quiet which was perfect for the four of us. We had ravioli with bolognese sauce, porcini -filled ravioli with a lovely brown butter mushroom sauce, and the ravioli with prawns. We all loved our dinners. They even comped us our cannolli because it was our 25th wedding anniversary. Very nice place.
The food was absolutely delicious. I dined there by myself and can say it was a great experience. It is where healthy and comfort food coexist in perfect harmony!
I was disappointed.
Food was great, Chef was very accommodating as my sister at the time had specific dietary restrictions. Outdoor seating was very nice. Service was friendly and helpful. Moderate pricing. Highly recommend.
There were hardly any customers, yet our served seemed rushed and frazzled. My salad included wilted lettuce and little crotons that looked like they came out of a bag from a grocery store. I was not offered fresh pepper and there was no regular pepper at the table either. My lasagna seemed old and reheated . Stouffers makes a better lasagna. My husband’s pasta had hard edges.
The entire meal was horrible. Would not recommend this restaurant.
It’s such a quaint wine bar and a beautiful location. All I can say is try the truffle pasta. It was amazing and I’ll definitely go back again for it.
Absolutely lovely dinner here. We made a reservation for a party of 10 for my reservation and basically got our own private dining room with a spectacular view of the river. My Italian family from Boston was visiting so I was hesitant to take them to an Italian restaurant but it turned out spectacular. Everyone was so impressed by the food. Only disappointing food there the cannolis, far too sweet, but everything else was so perfect we really couldn’t complain! Waitstaff was also super helpful when we got lost trying to find the restaurant! Absolutely would recommend!
Great food and drink very good stsff
Wonderful staff and beautiful venue. The food was fantastic. Truffle pasta and Caprese! Yummy! Thanks to our fantastic server Nori and chefs? Ethan and Michael. We look forward to to returning soon.
Mother’s Day dinner we had early reservations and had the restaurant to our selves. The food was excellent and our server(s) were excellent as well. We will be back
Very enjoyable dinner seated outside. Food good, expensive, but recognize you are paying for the ambiance of being outside.
Great place for a little Italian food, a bottle of wine and outdoor seating on the waterfront.
Friendly staff. Food was good but not a big selection. Seated right away and a terrific view of the river.
Romantic, tasty, and beautiful dining experience.
If you have not eaten at Il Terrazzo yet, something is wrong with you! This place is amazing. The knowledge of the staff is incredible.
I've had lunch and dinner. Can't wait to go again!
My wife and I Had dinner there while visiting Portland. Very friendly owner and staff. Had two different pasta dishes. Both had fresh pasta and were very delicious. Had buratta as appetizer and it was very good. Great wine selection as well. Would definitely visit there again if in the area.
