We are open for outdoor dining only where we do have awnings and heaters. Dressing for dining al fresco is still recommended.

We have socially distanced all our tables and require masks as per law. Masks are required at check in and when speaking to staff.

As a result of social distancing, our already small capacity is extremely limited. Cancellations and requested changes should be e-mailed in advance to info@iltegamino.com. We respectfully remind guests that we strictly enforce our cancellation/no show policy. Cancellations and changes with less than 24 hrs notice and no shows are charged a $25/person fee. Our grace period for reservation arrival is 5 minutes.

    So good! The ragu pasta was delicious and my husband's branzino was just as yummy. The ambiance was romantic and our overall experience was wonderful. Highly recommend!

    Amazing food. My family is still talking about it. The fried zucchini in olive oil with house made breads was to die for. The burrata was rich and served with sun dried tomatoes and olives and toasts. Everything was incredible.

    Best Italian restaurant in Carmel! We went here for our anniversary and had the best experience. The food was phenomenal and authentic and the staff was very friendly. I highly recommended this place!

    Waiter did nothing but want to hear himself talk. Charging $14 for bread and oil (really?) Zucchini Flower Blossom was basically fried cheese. Ceasar Salad has no taste (got extra dressing which had no flavor). Short rib pasta was actually very good. Very disappointed.

    Beautiful and romantic patio on which to dine. Service was really friendly and helpful and the food was delicious. I had the seafood pasta which was outstanding. Very reasonably priced wine list. The restaurant is a bit hard to find as it is set back up behind a building and no sign at the street.

    We love the courtyard dining. New menu is okay, not as fun as old one but definitely tasty. Sal does not need to read the entire menu to everyone though. Kind of annoying. The Lemon Panna Cotta was definitely a highlight❣️

    How fortunate we are to have found this hidden gem! Warm, friendly service in a cute courtyard! And the food! Best Ragu we’ve ever had - perfect blend of slow cooked short rib, sausage and tomatoes. Pasta special with sausage was delicate and fantastic. They let the ingredients shine and complement with fresh, perfectly cooked pasta. We were full but ordered a tiramisu “just to try a bite” but it was so delicious that we finished it. Can’t wait to go back again!

    Last minute find and it was a delicious treat. Genuine Italian food, they accommodated our children (I should of checked the menu before reserving a table) and we had a lovely meal.

    Great Italian dishes… and the best Tiramisu we’ve ever had. Hidden in a courtyard near PortoBella the outside dining is surrounded by buildings keeping the wind and fog at bay. Attentive service with the owner on site. Fabulous restaurant in a town with not shortage of choices.

    Charming restaurant. It’s tucked back a bit so you should seek it out. Our host was delightful. He explained the menu and his recommendations were spot on. We will most definitely return.

    Absolutely wonderful time! This tucked away restaurant makes you feel like you stepped into Italy. Four of us loved our selections, everything was homemade and so fresh! We will come back every visit!

    1st night dinner in Carmel after 2+years due to Covid. Found this place on Google as we were looking for a different Italian dinner venue. Very nice quiet location just off of Ocean. Extremely friendly staff, some of whom were Italians! Family owned. Food was good but not overwhelmingly so. I had the Pasta Pescadora. 2 prawns, small amount of squid etc. Lots of Pasta. My wife had the mushroom pasta which was the Special. Both good. Location for this place is the best and you can tell they really want to be successful as they go above & beyond in greeting & service. They did have some issues with supply as they only had some of the bottles of wine from their list. They were encouraging patrons to order by the glass. Lots of heat lamps for the tables to ward off the nighttime chill so common in Carmel. Overall: glad we tried this place! Loved the location. Very Italian!

    Wow we had the absolute best experience! Went for my husbands birthday and I truly felt like I left the US and went to Italy. It’s truly an experience. The staff and the food was amazing.

    This was an excellent restaurant experience. We checked in for our reservation time at 7:00 p.m. early and was seated promptly. The Host, forget the gentleman's name, was simply one of the best we've ever encountered. He was engaging, friendly, very passionate about the menu and overall, made us feel comfortable. The food was good. This is a more traditional non-american menu and we loved it. The carbonara and ragu were both very delicious, very fresh and we had no issues. A great ambience and great value. The tiramisu was also very tasty and the coffee was fresh and balanced. Overall a very great experience while visiting Carmel by the Sea. The location of this restaurant is in the back from the sweets shop.

    It is a cozy comfortable space hard to reach if you don't know where you are going but it is worth the adventure. The food and service are exceptional, wine list is reasonable. One of my favorites
